  1. In orbit is worse. Jeb has a space suit, he can explore the mun to his heart\'s content, especially without trival limits like food, water, and oxygen. Also wouldn\'t you eventually drop out of orbit as the Mun rotates around the Kerbin? You should either eventually drop into Kerbin\'s atmosphere or escape that orbit and get stuck going around the sun.
  2. Welcome to the KSP Forums! Happy Launching! Arrr! Capt\'n NO-ORIGINALITY EDIT: Awh was totally ninja\'d by Skunky
  3. Well first of all if you are using liquid engines, make sure to use shift and alt to control the throttle of them. Also, in the build area, you will notice a set of pictures on the right side of your screen. This is your staging menu. Going from bottom up, this is what happens when you press space, in order. If your rocket is set up how I think it is, with 1 liquid engine in the middle and 8 (or however many) solid boosters around it using radial decouplers, it is actually smart to have both the rockets and boosters on the same phase. You can turn off the liquid if you wish to conserve fuel, or fire both solids and liquid at maximum thrust to get out of the atmosphere as quickly as possible. So if you had the setup that I think you have, I would have this for staging: [list type=decimal] [li]All of your boosters, your liquid rocket and fuel for liquid rocket[/li] [li]Radial Decouplers for the solids[/li] [li]Stack decoupler for the lander if you have it, or your command pod and parachute if you dont[/li] The top three things on your rocket should ALWAYS be: Parachute, command pod, stack decoupler. This allows you to always return to ground with your parachute safely at the end of every trip, assuming you don\'t get stuck in space. In case you are ever close to being stuck and you are almost out of liquid fuel, just do a retrograde burn and your orbit should decay and you can return to earth.
  4. Do not take this question to be offensive please, but is english your first language? (Just asking because of grafik (graphic)) Anyways, yes it is a very good idea for a game that makes it more fun than Orbiter in my opinion. However, playing Orbiter gives a good base to know the physics to even be able to halfway play this game... Scripting might be a good idea, but JS I\'m not so fond of. I would suggest LUA if anything.. *awaits the LUA haters to jump on this thread* 8)
  5. I have my 4 munar-grade rockets in my thread 'The Muninator Series'. I like them
  6. These are my crafts in the Muninator series. I had lots of fun developing each of them, and all of them are munar-grade rockets and have varying levels of ability to get to the mun, BUT I have been able to touch each one of them on the mun and make it back to Kerbin. Muninator I: This was really a test design and looks TERRIBLE and wobbles a lot, but it still has the capability of making it to the mun. Muninator II: A step in the right direction, this ship even has nosecones, and a general good looking design. A major issue with this ship is its lack of ability to steer in the first stage. MUST stay straight up until considerably out of atmosphere... Muninator III: This ship is only a slight variant to the II, differing only in a few minor design changes, but even these few changes drastically increase handling ability and general ease of making it to the Mun. Muninator IV: This was my attempt at the common saying 'add more boosters'. I used a very small main rocket and kept adding boosters until i had the ability to get it to the mun. Note: This rocket lagged even my computer, so I wouldn\'t attempt it on a shit comp... The Muninator V is currently under development, I shall edit this post when it is finished.
  7. Getting back to Kerbin is even doable with RCS if you have a very light lander module. I have been able to get to the moon for a while- I just managed to get on the moon and back to Kerbin and live 2 days ago, I was really happy
  8. Most of my Munar-grade rockets jettison fuel at various stages, just for simplicity and planning.
  9. Wait just a minute.... So your gravity is never calculated between the sun, kerbal, and your ship? Though that is an easy and minimal lag way of simulating gravity, I think that a way needs to be developed to allow gravitational computation to be done between 3 bodies.
  10. Yes that is smart. Many people think to try to burn towards the planet to re-enter atmosphere. This most likely will result in you loosing all of your fuel pointlesly. The best way to efficiently re-enter atmosphere is to do a retro-burn( firing your thrusters in your oppositite-velocity vector, which is the green circle with an X in it) while you are at your AP. You will notice yoru PE decreasing rapidly, and you should find your orbital path re-entering atmosphere!
  11. Hey guys. I\'ve been playing the game for a few weeks and been havign some fun, landed on the moon a few times. I\'ve already made a few forum posts but I figured I would make my official beginnings here! Cheers, Steven
  12. I dont have any pics, because I just saw this thread, but I shall take some tonight. I used only stock parts, a fairly good rocket. First attempt with it I screwed up and slammed into the earth at 500 ms Second attempt I got slingshotted from munar orbit into solar orbit. Kinda sucked Third I got to the Mun, landed too hard, broke one of the fins I was using as a lander leg, fell over and exploded. The guys lived though! Fourth I got to the Mun and finally had an incident free landing! Unfortunately I didn\'t have enough fuel and upon leaving got stuck in a munar orbit. Well at least Jeb was happy about it! Fifth time everything went perfect. I got there, landed, and got back within a few kilometers of the launch platform. Once again everybody was freaked out except Jeb. Good ol Jeb!
  13. Theoretically cant you get very VERy close to theM? you should be able to get to a point right where your kerbal orbit changes into a solar orbit, and kill off all of your velocity. That would be as close as you can get to actually hitting the point, but you will never be completely still. I shall working on hitting the point between the earth and the sun tonight!
  14. I\'m planning on making an orbit tutorial and possibly a Mun landing tutorial, I will keep you posted if I make it
  15. To get into an orbit with little eccentricity you have to work at it. One or two things to point out when doing orbital corrections- If you wish to modify the ap, do it at the pe, and vice versa. If you wish to decrease the distance that your ap is from earth, burn in the opposite direction that you are going, while you are at your pe. Your ap will start to reign in. Do experiments like this when you reach a stable orbit to figure out how to best maneuver ypurself
  16. It is a fantastic game, dont get me wrong. But it is a game of calculation and being methodical, not the ksp crazyness

    KSP at work

Yes! I was totally playing it on my iPad during school today, some fun shit. Got a few people watching Twas a boring lecture anyways
  18. This game is stupid, I will NEVER play!! :troll:
