Hi Kerbonauts, I'm Lunniy Korabl, you may (or may not) remember the Weka spaceplane mod I made back when the Mun was the only destination.
SpoilerI'm a VFX artist by trade, and I wanted to share this webseries I'm about to launch. Crafted with miniature practical effects and digital animation, Hyperluminal is a pick-a-path series where you also get to pick the paths that get to be picked (it's pick-a-path sqaured!)
SpoilerThe trailer is done and ready to drop, and you can find heaps more teasers on the official Hyperluminal twitter. Obviously pick-a-path^2 is going to be a lot of work, so I'm looking to crowdfund either on a platform like kickstarter, where I would need to raise enough funds to cover the whole project at once, or with a patreon where I could do a lot of behind the scenes fx and science content in between each major episode to keep patrons interested long term.
I figured this would be a good community to guage interest in such a project. Do you prefer to back kickstarters or patreons for fun science fiction/fact content, and what sort of rewards are you most interested in? -
Looks awesome, though I think the winglets aren't quite in the right place. Should sit right on the edge as if they're an extension of the back "lip". Warm memories flooding back!

Yeah maybe a bit luxurious! I always imagined an IVA like the facetmobile. Minimal equipment and struts everywhere!

That would be quite wonderful! Let me know if you need anything, though I imagine the original files are adequate. It could probably be all one piece now we have part modules, though I found the multiple parts useful for balancing the thing for flight. You'll notice in the config the front was unrealistically light to compensate for the stubby wings being so far back. Now that you can create "actual" lifting bodies, this should be less of an issue.

So, can you do a Bop one?
Sure thing! Given the current update rate, I'd check back here sometime in 2018.
-
Only 720p because the original files weren't big enough, but here it is with a Jool on top!
Spoiler(I also lost the craft images when I cleaned up my 50 different versions of KSP)
Edit: I'm on a roll, just added Moho: -
Sorry for the slight necro post, but I'm glad to see people enjoyed using the weka for so long! The original release thread is locked so I can't update the post, but I consider all my KSP mods to be public domain. They're meant to be enjoyed, so please feel free to update, modify and share!

Looks a lot like one of the legs failed to deploy.

That's an amazing photo. It boggles the mind that not only is that a rocket stage landing on a tiny ship, but that it is doing so after successfully delivering dragon to orbit. Just needs more powerful SAS next time.
-
Well, it's happening. Whole rocket will use just under one MW from batteries: http://www.forbes.com/sites/alexknapp/2015/04/14/rocket-lab-unveils-a-3d-printed-battery-powered-rocket-engine/
Edit: Obligatory hype video...

Where's the "None" option?
I'm from New Zealand, which is definitely not part of Australia. Unless you meant Australasia or Oceania.
Need to modify that Australia option to either Australasia or Oceania. Us K1w1's don't like being lumped in with Aussies, and vice versa. So no vote from this user.So much this. Not sure why America and Afro-Eurasia gets split into pseudo-continents but we get lumped in with a single country. Note that even when talking about Australia as a continental region, New Zealand is not part of the continent of Australia. New Zealand and Australia are both part of the wider regions known as Australasia and Oceania.

With much googling, it looks like the bad anaglyph colour correction can't be corrected without messing around in regedit every time the game is run. Also need to brighten up night scenes, because there's nothing like cutting out half the light to each eye when night time in KSP is so dim to begin with.
Might have to invest in some shutter glasses, because
-
Yeah, the depth is fairly easy to fix, though the convergence controls seem unresponsive within KSP. What I'd also like to do is set the zero parallax plane closer to the vehicle.
By far the most annoying feature is that their anaglyph colour correction gives everything an orange tint, meaning the left eye sees black as grey while the right eye sees it as black. That is the opposite of what anaglyph colour correction is trying to achieve. It's that kind of silliness that gives 3D a reputation for inducing headaches. Maybe I need to have a word with NVIDIA.
Edit: Convergence fixed, obligatory wing coming right at you.
-
Oh yay, anaglyph (and probably other 3D) works just fine using NVIDIA drivers! The default depth is way too much though, unless I'm over the other side of the room.
-
Hmm, trial software. You'd think there would be an easier solution considering KSP is so moddable. I'm be quite interested in anaglyph 3D, since I don't own any 3D hardware (but plenty of glasses!)

Technically it seems like a good rocket. Especially once upgraded with liquid boosters.
I remember when the shuttle was going to be upgraded with liquid boosters. It's not hard to imagine SLS will go the same way.
-
I hope the robotic program is replaced complemented by a manned one!
Fixed that for you.

Since they already performed that test, I suppose they're just saving money. I was under the impression the escape motors were fired during escape tower jettison though, which is something they are testing. Does anyone know what the difference is? Are they using a different motor for jettison or is the difference to do with escape capability being disabled in some other way.
-
Since it's capable of deorbiting itself, I'd imagine there's navigation and RCS stuff all crammed in there. It's basically a fully functional spacecraft wrapped around an upper stage.

And we don't have to stream in realtime. we can buffer say 10 min of video and send it piecewise over several hours.
But video aside, for still images we will need compression too. Transferring for example 3 MB raw instead of 200 KB jpeg is pure bandwidth waste.
What would 10 minutes of streamed video do for us that a timelapse of still images would not? If the goal is to observe the moss growing the surely a sequence of compressed images would be ideal. It would be a bit silly to transmit video if we intend to throw away most of the data by speeding it up anyway.

Ah yes, there used to be an attached Moon poster there photoshopped to say Mun. Couldn't play KSP at work back then, but could access photoshop and internet!
-
Avatar as requested! Tweaked it to be more legible that a direct resize of the patch.
-
Judging by my username, I think I made this account as soon as it was possible to land on the Mun because I wanted to brag.
-
Pretty sure the 7 man figure for new USA ships is just because the shuttle could take 7, so anything less would be perceived as a step backwards by politicians. Same reason they are required to land on land instead of splashdown.

Made a little patch and banner. Will update with a more accurate cubesat once we've settled on an overall design.
Edit: Whoops, probably should have checked the forum sig specs first. For those who can't be bothered resizing, have a 120 pixel high version!
Remember the image can be a link to this thread by wrapping [ url=http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/86010-KSP-Community-CubeSat/ ][ /url ] around the image code.
Thinking of putting together a spotify playlist for playing KSP, what music would you recommend?

I like to play this when launching directly to interplanetary transfers with no antennas like it's no big deal.
