Interplanetary guide question
Brainlord Mesomorph replied to seyss's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Why not just plot the node and see? As for how to long burn, see the tutorial in my sig. -
Colored lights?
Brainlord Mesomorph replied to Crusher48's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I like to use small batteries (with the green LED) as running lights on wingtips and around docking ports. -
UT clock confusion...
Brainlord Mesomorph replied to GoSlash27's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
4 minutes per orbit sounds about right. Whenever I try to do a burn relative to a precise geographic location at Kerbin, I always have to advance the nav point 2 to 3+ minutes when I finally get there, to compensate for planetary rotation. -
Dammit Jeb! He snuck aboard an orbital construction flight that was supposed to be unmanned! Now he's wandering around alone in a shipment of space station parts that will be heading to Tylo in 90 days. And he's supposed to be on another flight. I'm going to have to go get him.

How do I embed an imgur album in a forum post?.
Brainlord Mesomorph replied to Brainlord Mesomorph's topic in Kerbal Network
thanks! I'll be using the heck out of that! -
here's my entry: I call it MegaTanker: It weighs 3,700 tons on the launchpad. SSTO. The lifter is 19 of my "Saturn SSTO" boosters. Costs 2,100,000 funds to launch but I recover ALL of the boosters usually at the KSC and get back over 1,500,000. The payload is a 360 ton interplanetary tanker that delivers 250 tons of fuel to Jool for 500,000 funds. Nosecones were sacrificed for part-count. Still turns KSP into a slideshow. sorry for the number of pics but I'm documenting my JOOL-5 challenge BTW: the tanker comes apart into 5 smaller tankers when it gets there.

Sorry none of that seems to work, and are you suggesting I'm being whiny? -

I think I've seen it done. How do I embed the HTML code? -
0.19 but I think the results of this poll will be determined by how long there was between builds.

Simple and Easy ways to test Eve -capable spacecraft
Brainlord Mesomorph replied to Coga19000's topic in KSP1 Tutorials
Thanks, I do test everything at Kerbin, (I guess now that I have hyperedit, that is roleplaying) -
What makes you feel like a pro at KSP?

I did something similar on purpose! was sending a payload up to doc with a tug already in LKO. didn't give the payload enough of a final stage. so it ends up sub-orbital with an Ap of 74km. I did get the timing right though, was just a few km away so I was able to switch over to the tug, DECELERATE the tug to suborbital (!), so now I had about 3 minutes to dock before they would both reenter. execute the dock and accelerate back to orbit speed! whew! (wasn't skill so much as highly maneuverable tug!) -
WAIT: Walkers? a mod?

Kerbal EVA Crash tolerance?
Brainlord Mesomorph replied to SlabGizor117's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
verry interesting... BTW any one know the max delta-V of a kerbal in a jetpack? -
How many screenshots have you taken?
Brainlord Mesomorph replied to Norpo's topic in KSP1 Discussion
2500+ about to be a lot more as I document my JOOL-5 challenge and start sharing craft. Just moved most of them to a subfolder for speed. -

1. Recovering a totally out of control spaceplane at 30 km and leveling off less than 100 m over the sea. Then landing at the KSC. 2. A perfect docking. no stopping, no second tries, just rendezvous, straight approach and connect. 3. Docking 2 rovers on the ground (very tough) 4. Docking 2 seaplanes AT SEA! -
1. Start with the next letter of the alphabet and then pick a word that sounds aerospacey: Gullwing, Hawk, Icarus, Javelen 2. Pick a constellation (or mythic person) associated with the job it does: Pices SSTO jetboat, Hermes SSTO UAV 3. Call it what it is: RoverLab, SeaLab, AeroLab 4: Call it what it looks like: Saturn SSTO Booster, or (my favorite) Science Dog 1 and 2 If do single-use ships, name them for the destination: Duna One (usually followed by "Duna One Rescue") - - - Updated - - - oh, and that. (but I use letters) so more accurately: Gullwing 17d Hawk 2c But that's mainly for filenaming the craft. Once launched they get renamed with the mission code (JEF: Joolian Exploritory Fleet, J5C: Jool-5 Challenge) and a number of how many of those we have now. so we end up with: J5C Hawk CM JEF Megatanker Two

I know how the OP feels. I just used hyperedit for the first time . I've been testing a rover on the Mun. Like the 3rd or 4th trip, one last test , with the docking station this time. I schlep the whole contraption to the Mun, and discover I left the probe core off the docking station! So I dl hyperedit, and teleport from the launch pad to lunar orbit. test worked, and I went back to my previous save. IT WAS ONLY A TEST FLIGHT! STOP LOOKING AT MT LIKE THAT!

Stock/Career Your 3 plus: pointy rockets and planes antenna always (not just for science)

I don't do flags, I do mission patches. It really bothers me that KSP doesn't do both, and have combined flags and mission patches into "mission flags" But if I had to pick one, (and I do!) it would be patches. First, the basic patch for my upcoming Joolian Exploratory Fleet And its sub-missions(!) like the Jool-5 Challenge and its refuel vessel And the Space Stations we're building: ... and the Colony:

I started a poll on this and got lots of interesting opinions. to answer to OP: Start at about 5 km altitude, or 100 m/s speed or whenever the SRBs burn out (they are tough to steer), then a niiice sllooow turn that's 45 degrees by 15 or 20 Km, and 90 degrees by 60 km, or whenever coast phase begins. HTH edit: a nice balanced rocket will turn for you after you start it. you just have to keep the nose of the rocket in front of the course ( the V attitude reticle within the O prograde reticle) or lock to prograde

Flag-planting captions- what do you write?
Brainlord Mesomorph replied to FlyingPete's topic in KSP1 Discussion
For a contact I usually write: "We did it for money." -
The only Spock. And a fine actor in Yiddish theater, too, (which, I know he'd also liked to be remembered as) Makes me wonder if my avatar pic seems ... inappropriate .
