[Windows/KSP 1.1] Kerbal Config Editor v1.1 Release
LitaAlto replied to IRnifty's topic in KSP1 Tools and Applications
I know, "no pic no click" gets tedious--but I'm really curious to see what the UI looks like, and what this offers that Notepad++ with the KSP UDL doesn't. Would you put up a few screenshots of the editor in use, please? -
I'm in the process of editing a cinematic, "Across Minmus: An Anti-Gravitational Circumnavigational Odyssey." But I've culled some screencaps from the video footage, along with screenshots directly in-game, as a teaser for the video. Hope you enjoy!

Good to know, although I don't think we're going to get each other's emails.

Project Manta was a series of experiments with piloting anti-gravitational craft, primarily using Kerbal Foundries' antigrav repulsors, but also using parts from Modular Rocket Systems, Dr. Jet's Chop Shop, Near Future, KAS, etc. While the craft is challenging to drive without crashing, it showed great promise in the hands of a seasoned pilot. Jebediah Kerman, of course, was eager to be the seasoned pilot in question. And with this craft, Jeb is capable of great feats--and great damage. Of course, hijinks--and explosions--ensue. I recorded all of this in November. Why am I posting it now? Because Project Manta directly ties into my most recent mission. And it's Awesome. I hope you enjoy!

I don't believe they are, but I'm going to experiment with having only five ports on the hex hub (two vertical, three horizontal) and see if that helps. That idea is based on this screenshot of the aftermath: It doesn't look like they're clipping--but maybe their collider meshes are larger and those are clipping...? Either way, I'll update later.
-
Is anyone using the 3.75 m hex hubs successfully? I've built stations with two of them and I've noticed that when I add the hub, the station becomes prone to what I guess are phantom forces, and prone to distortion of both the station and its orbit (circular orbits become eccentric), and eventually the station spontaneously flies apart, typically about when I'm either switching crafts or switching to map mode. (I'm not asking for technical support yet, but can provide output_log.txt and a copy of the save, along with screenshots, once I figure out whether this goes to Cpt. Kipard or Squad.) Update: I'm using the 2.0 hubs currently, although I don't think upgrading to 2.1 would change anything given what was changed. I'll upgrade anyhow.

Forum member and YouTube gamer Jatwaa had a series of challenges recently, collectively called The Fast And The Kerbalus, hinged around high-speed hovercraft using Kerbal Foundries' antigrav repulsors. I got first place in the very first challenge, which was a speed race to the end of the Insular Airfield. (Reversible stock engines let me keep up the speed until the last possible moment. YAY.) So when the second challenge was announced, I was stoked. A race all the way to KSP2? Grueling! But totally worth the shot! And I had plans for getting around the mountains. Awesome, Jeb-approved plans. Then I tried a run, and... ran into technical issues. Then real life got weird and I had to drop out of the entire challenge series. BUT I GOT VIDEO--complete with color commentary from Jeb. Aside from the race we discuss Kerbalkind's greatest sailor, and a bit of Kraken lore. Hope you enjoy!

Fast and the Kerbalus - KSC2 Dash
LitaAlto replied to Jatwaa's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
So I had attempted a run the first week of this challenge, but I ran into technical difficulties, let's just say. Then life got too weird and I had to abandon the challenge, which is a shame. Still got video, with color commentary from Jeb: -
FWIW someone on the Google+ forums was looking for a mass driver. I pointed them at this and they though it was perfect for their needs. I still haven't tried this myself, yet--but soon.

Thanks, this is very helpful. I really appreciate it.

I'm struggling with an issue that's keeping me from playing KSP, and I really badly want to play. I'm trying to deal by watching KSP videos in the meantime. But a lot of them have people talking and... I don't want to get into it right now, but hearing people talk is kind of a problem right now. Anyone got video channels or video makers you recommend, without talking? I already know about SWDennis, Danny2462, and Nextor's Lab, but others would be very welcome right now. Thanks.

I'm really sorry for being a bother. I'm still getting the heap sections error with the 4.4 beta, with WAIT = TRUE added to the cfg as you requested. I didn't know what DBG did but it was commented out originally--I tried that with DBG commented-out and not, but no difference. My output_log.cfg is here. Win7 x86, Athlon II X2 215, 4 Gb RAM, KSP 0.90.0 Please don't ignore me. I'm trying hard to give you what you're asking for, but the thought of being treated like I don't exist is really messing with my head.
-
Yes, I'm on Win7 x86. My processor (Athlon II X2 215) has two cores. I've got 4 Gb RAM installed, with the usual caveat about not having full access to all the RAM. This is for Kerbal Space Program 0.90.0 So on my system, I can close all windows, run a game booster that kills off all unnecessary services, and defrag memory, then run a clean install of KSP with only ATM added. Then the game loads as if ATM never cached isn't caching anything, and runs into the heap segment error after about 15-30 seconds. I never see a sign of a textureCache folder, BTW. And here's my output log if you need it. Thanks!

(If you don't know which meme I'm referencing, click here and be enlightened.) Got some orbital-craving pics? Post them here!

I completely deleted the KSP folder and reinstalled the game from scratch, and installed the latest ATM on top of that, so it's the only mod and should have no cache. When I start the game, it acts like everything is already cached, and then throws the "too many heap sessions" error. Is there another cache elsewhere that it's maybe reading from? If not, I'm very puzzled by this behavior. UPDATE: Here's output_log.txt.

Thanks! BTW, I'm not saying this is hellish. It's actually very pretty and frenetic, like some Final Fantasy music I've heard. But it sounds like something that could mess with minds after a while, and that's a good quality for this playlist.
