CKAN/Steam Workshop
Alshain replied to Aperture Science Employee's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
The thing is if it is a permissive license you are already granting them that permission by selecting a permissive license. I don't like it, I think it's a bit shady, but it is allowed. CKAN certainly doesn't appear to be breaking any rules, I'm sure if it was then SQUAD would have blacklisted it from the forums by now. But the whole idea of going behind the developer of an active project, while not illegal or impermissible, it's still incredibly rude, even more so if they make their feelings against it known as some have, and then still decided to continue the practice. -
CKAN/Steam Workshop

That is an inaccurate blanket statement. I'm a native English speaker and I would interpret it that way but I'm in a very different region than you and English has many dialects. You shouldn't assume non-Canadians are not reasonable English speakers just because they don't speak your version of it. -
CKAN/Steam Workshop
Alshain replied to Aperture Science Employee's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
It's not a blanket statement at all. If one mod author doesn't support it then there are mod authors that do not support it. I didn't say all mod authors don't support it. My mod is on it, I didn't put it there (in fact I told spacedock NOT to put it there). If you have a problem with my mod, and you installed it with CKAN, you are S.O.L., I will not help you, for the simple fact I can't guarantee what it's pushing to your computer. No, not all. But many. As for who finds it valuable, that's in the eye of the beholder. As I said, it's my opinion. You don't have to agree, but that's not going to stop me from stating it either. -
CKAN/Steam Workshop
Alshain replied to Aperture Science Employee's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Except when it doesn't. CKAN is a piece of garbage not worth the bandwidth it is downloaded with for one simple fact... Mod Authors do not support it. Yes, their mods are on it, but in many cases, they didn't put it there and they don't support it. If something goes wrong, there is nothing to do about it. Don't go complaining to the mod author. If it's out of date (which it often is), nothing you can do about it. Seriously people, you are better off manually installing mods than using CKAN. This is all my opinion of course, but if you want to use it, just know you are on your own entirely. Both Steam Workshop or the Curse Client would not have this problem. The mod author would decide if they wanted to distribute using that method and they could keep it up to date and ensure it works. -
Landing gear can't wait for 1.2, needs bandaid.
Alshain replied to cephalo's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Well the issue there is what we have is all we have. I agree the stock gear makes poor spaceplane gear (It's downright ugly on a shuttle replica), but he is using the largest gear in the game there. -

Alshain replied to cephalo's topic in KSP1 Discussion
That isn't that odd, the NASA shuttle landed at about 225 MPH. The Orbiter did take a long time to stop, but relatively speaking, the runway it stopped on was shorter than the one in KSP. -

Alshain replied to cephalo's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Ok, here are a couple. I have more, but not all of them have their control surfaces set right. I'm not really playing 1.1 anymore because of the other wheel issues. They should touch down ok, what happens after that is anybody's guess. The second one requires KAX. https://www.dropbox.com/s/5trwqzhkvos7hds/T4 Finch.craft?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/b4w51uoztad6lex/Wren.craft?dl=0 -

Alshain replied to cephalo's topic in KSP1 Discussion
@cephalo It just takes fine tuning on the elevators, your probably either using 100% authority OR you are just coming down on a bad glide slope. I have plenty of planes of that style that can "land", I use quotes because although they can touchdown, they spin out afterward. That is the real problem with the wheels, not the stress limits as you describe. I'll get you some craft files if you like (I have to sort through the ones I've updated already). -

If tapping the S key is sending you back up at 5 m/s vertical speed then you have a design problem in your plane, even without the precision controls. -
But yet you can't show me a memorial for a living person, so obviously not.

Again, show me a memorial for a living person. Dictionary.com is no Merriam Webster.

And yet the simple definition does. Why don't we make this easy. Show me a memorial that has been made for someone who is alive.

You guys keeps saying that, but I posted a well respected dictionary and everyone else just keeps spouting rhetoric. Show me some evidence of this.

Stock Communications System: What's the Word Now?
Alshain replied to Geschosskopf's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Well first, that is complete nonsense. My satellites don't drift even with decades of time warp. Second the reason RT can't be stock is because with signal delay you need to have the autopilot. You can't have one without the other. Squad isn't likely to implement an autopilot. -
Stock Communications System: What's the Word Now?
Alshain replied to Geschosskopf's topic in KSP1 Discussion
You don't see those used in space travel a lot. Fishbone, or Yagi antennas, are primarily used in the High Frequency bands (including Very and Ultra). Corkscrew antennas are typically low gain omnidirectional antennas. -

Alshain replied to Geschosskopf's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Same here, but I won't mind using those new antenna parts with RT. IMO the RT dish antennas are kinda bland. -

Rover Wheel Functions
Alshain replied to Vagani's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Fair enough, that is good to know. Thanks Arsonide! -
Rover Wheel Functions
Alshain replied to Vagani's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
@Majorjim The wheel blocked issue is not necessarily going to be fixed in 1.2, as far as we know, it is intentional. -
Alterations I want to make to the KSC
Alshain replied to ZooNamedGames's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Point is still that the Space shuttle was 19 degrees and this is a Space game. So which do you give it without having a configuration window? (FWIW though, the shuttle certainly did not use a PAPI) Now there is a mod for an ILS too. -
Alterations I want to make to the KSC
Alshain replied to ZooNamedGames's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
There was a mod that added PAPI but the problem is the way the game renders, it was quite difficult to see it. As far as something in stock, well it would likely require a configuration window which isn't consistent with stock at all (there is no in-flight configuration window to control anything at the KSC). Typical plane glide slopes are 3 degrees, but a Space shuttle glide slopes are as high as 19 degrees. -
Symmetry on/off toggle for part tweaking
Alshain replied to KerikBalm's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Not if you use the mod I suggested to strip the symmetry away. As far as incorporating it into stock, that I can agree.
