  1. I wasn't particularly hyped about the resources system planned for 1.0... until now
  2. These are on different launch attempts, each connection between stages is reinforced with 8 struts. Meh, at least it's accurate to the real one. Did you clear the launch clamps manually from any previous launches? I know that they don't always recover automatically from the Kosmodrome, so if your N1 spawned on top of them... I ask because I've lost too many rockets that way
  3. It's SO CUTE! Getting gold foil to look right in KSP is tough but that brownish texture is a cool stockalike solution.   6. Perfect, now I can launch my new s̶u̶r̶v̶e̶i̶l̶l̶a̶n̶c̶e̶ civilian research station. To the Mun! All good so far, works like a charm. Flying to the Mun has never been so stylish.
  7. Matching decouplers and 2.5m engines would be cool, and a 5m SAS would be handy too, perhaps incorporated into the largest nosecone. For building Energia/Vulkan analogues though the pack is pretty good as it is.
  8. That N-1 is truly a thing of beauty. On an unrelated note, I decided to make a quick R7-alike ICBM using Tantares LV. Will it have sufficient range to hit another continent? 10 minutes later... Yes, it definitely can reach another continent!
  9. I remember using them that way back in... 0.13? 0.15? Whatever it was, I made it to the Mun for the first time only to discover I'd mounted them a tiny bit too high. My rocket landed awkwardly on its engine, bounced and flipped over.
  10. I tried out a Zenit launcher with the new, punchier, dirtier Hurricane: Second stage is from the Tantares ALV, and the payload was in the region of 10-15 tonnes. It seems a reasonable launch vehicle, made it to low Kerbin orbit but didn't have the delta-V to go beyond that. I'd call that a success myself, useful but not overpowered.
  11. Looks good. I've been looking for a stockalike RT-10 replacement for quite some time, and this definitely fits the bill!
  12. Those are all sound reasons for including the Whirlwind. I withdraw my previous criticism!
  13. On the topic of fairings, since KSP 1.0 will hopefully include some payload fairing parts/modules to complement the new aerodynamics... will you be making custom non-dependency fairings for the ALV and TLV, Beale? As if you didn't have enough projects already
  14. That Whirlwind engine is quite a beast! Not sure it's strictly necessary given how powerful a single-core design already is, but it certainly looks cool.
  15. Having played around with the parts for a few hours, this is the best Vulkan-style launcher I've come up with yet. I have no idea what the payload capacity is, but I'd estimate it at "quite a lot". http://imgur.com/a/GdxsX#0 I've had less luck with Buran-style launchers, the damn things keep tipping over! I'm going to keep at it though, the problem is with my designs rather than the mod. One possible issue I noticed is that the slanted nosecones for the boosters don't seem to work. The data files suggest that they should have a Separatron built into them but nothing shows up or gets activated in the VAB or in flight. Has this function not been implemented yet, or is it a bug?
