Inspired by katateochi's What will you call your 1.0 craft? I was wondering what themes do you usually go after when naming your vessels. I usually go mythical! Greek gods and creatures, Persian mythical creatures, sea monsters (All hail the Great Old Ones, All Hail Cthulhu! Hail!) Recently, I started using Lord of the Rings' lore. Tons of names there!

I second all of akron's suggestions. I'm curious why the inline model has a hatch? Are they supposed to be traversable?

Is it possible to make that sleek looking probe nosecone a fuel tank? IIRC, back when SP+ went stock someone did that, But I can't find it.

I mean, what's the rush to make a permanent base and no return? Why not spend resources for landing, experimenting, and coming back with a crew of five for example? Isn't that easier and more helpful?

Those are exactly the points I agreed to! But I'm a bit too Utopian! And I'm a bit more aware of the financial shenanigans of my country!(So when I say I'm concerned, it means I worry that the budget supposedly going into scientific research with a military cover would go into the pockets of the rich and dirty!)

I understand. But why it has never been for science?! Why do we need power and prestige to do scientific research? Is there a stigma?! I think there is, because in order to spend money on stuff such as an expensive space program they'd need this cover, otherwise people (the general public) would consider them a waste of resources.

This has me concerned. I trust the bright minds of my country to do what they do best. It's just that the government is using this as a gesture of "independence" and "power". Whereas I think space is all about unity and humbleness. But I have to say, I'm also very excited, that capsule looks so cool!!

With all due respect, I think we'd need another thread to discuss politics! (I really like the atmosphere here. Intelligent, semi-unbiased discussion of sensitive matters)

Space exploration is expensive. Sure, there have been some satellites and other stuff (which they're very proud of! As in like they're the first to shoot little monkeys in space cans!) But even I, as a space enthusiast, wouldn't encourage these so called "advancements" at the moment. More important matters to spend money on than showing off monkey-catapulting skills! (I wasn't aware of Bush's Axis of Evil comment!! In our media the US (government) is sometimes referred to as "The Great Devil"! How messed up is that?! )
