I was landing on the Mun when suddenly on touch down rocket almost flip but then stayed balanced on two legs like this :D. Question is now do I turn SAS off? http://i.imgur.com/GXSbgEK.png
Show-off! ;)

I'll do 'both', it depends on the mission and target and how long I'm willing to wait for the next window (I run multiple missions).
This update seems pretty reasonable. Though I was looking at their forums and my only concern is that the page doesn't appear to use the entire window, if you know what I mean. A lot of other forums are like that for some reason and it just feels claustrophobic to me. I know this sounds silly but is there a setting for that or something? (sorry if this was answered already in case I missed something) https://i.imgur.com/wCB2giK.png https://i.imgur.com/sBcEEJs.png
Room for (future) advertising?

Silent Update or how I lost my best Kerbal because of Microsoft...
LordFerret replied to Galenmacil's topic in The Lounge
I would say never to allow Microsoft Updates to autoupdate... let it inform you it has updates, and then go evaluate what they are before just installing them. In the past that was simple, each update clearly defined what the update was and did. Now, they don't tell you... you have to go look up the update information (externally) to find out. Pain in the arse. -
Turkeys CAN fly.
Yes, though mostly flightless. Best of luck to Maxmaps in his next venture.
I agree with this; there's probably a good alternative to deleting forever 2.5+ years of combined effort and history. ...
Years ago, I and fellow administrators handled a similar situation by simply making an entire section read-only... a view-able archive.
... PHPBB3 for the win!!!!
Absolutely.
Looks pretty awesome! good to know you are now using the modern flat design style instead of gradients and false 3d. it looks pretty good.
Sorry but I see this 'flat design style' as a step back... as bland as my phone. @KasperVld - F5!
Hello there! Today, for the first time, I managed to get to the Mun, land (without toppling over) and get back to Kerbin! I just wanted to post some pictures below! Don't forget to stop and smell the flowers
"Even though the members of the International Space Station (ISS) are floating thousands of miles above us..." Think the author beat them to that.
Well?, when you live in hole in the ground... it can seem that way. -

'PSA' means "prostate-specific antigen", as in a PSA Blood Test. Once you hit 50+ years old, acronyms as such take on a whole new meaning lol.
Remember ole Hurricane Sandy? My Pennsylvania suburb was right it its path. It took a long time to lose the power too, so we watched movies to wait it out before it happened. We went to a friend's house who had a generator that was powerful enough to power the whole house, so we watched movies there. The power at our house came back on after that night, as we live right on a business strip with a fire department. The power here never stays out for more than a few hours. We get lucky. But we're moving soon, so we might have to endure outages for a week. God dangit Mom.
I remember Sandy. Hell, they won't let us forget it here. They're still rebuilding from it... a hot-button topic especially regarding dune reinforcement. My house was spared damage by the storm, although it did lose power for over a week - imagine the smell I encountered upon returning home, emanating from my meat freezer. I was out of town the duration of the storm, up in Maine. When I was ready to return my trip was delayed yet another week because of the blizzard which followed the hurricane. I was absent for 3 weeks all total. Then, to add insult to injury, the following summer Seaside Heights (boardwalk) burned down.
Each of my missions has TLA (three letter acronym) Joolean Exploratory Fleet (JEF) Jool 5 challenge (J5C) Munar Resource Survey (MRS) etc. Then each ship uses the TLA as a prefix on its name: JEF Megatanker One JEF Tylo Station J5C Challenger MRS Orbiter II MRS Rover 1. It helps a little.
I do the same, it's very helpful.

On my way back to Moho again, this time for high resolution mapping (SCANsat). 38 days out...

I've been through some major power outages over the years. The first big one I remember was 1965, the NYC skyline totally devoid of light, no radio or tv broadcasts. There have been quite a few others as well, including power loss from hurricanes and ice storms and major snow storms... even power outages from heat. It's nothing unusual actually. We've come to expect it and stay prepared.

How activate ROOT permission in Samsung Galaxy S3
LordFerret replied to Pawelk198604's topic in Science & Spaceflight
All of a few seconds worth of Google search for "root samsung galaxy s3"... http://joyofandroid.com/root-samsung-galaxy-s3/ -
I propose that you must prove yourself able to brew a superb pot of coffee ... because (in real life) if you can't, the engineers will beat the life outta you with their slide-rules and wrenches.

Silent Update or how I lost my best Kerbal because of Microsoft...
LordFerret replied to Galenmacil's topic in The Lounge
... Note that Microsoft has put out at least 3 updates to Windows 7 to try to automatically download Windows 10, and marked these as recommended and important so they would be installed when set to automatic updates. Not only does it chew up your disk space and network bandwidth, but then it runs a program specifically designed to have you accidentally allow it to install Windows 10 if you have a dumb-thumb moment with the mouse. ...
There is a way to do away with all of the Windows 10 fuss...
Computer Configuration To block the upgrade by using Computer Configuration, follow these steps Click Computer Configuration. Click Policies. Click Administrative Templates. Click Windows Components. Click Windows Update. Double-click Turn off the upgrade to the latest version of Windows through Windows Update. Click Enable.
Or, you can disable it via the Registry (edit the registry via 'regedit /v'), which is what I did (Win8.1 on this laptop)...
Subkey: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate DWORD value: DisableOSUpgrade = 1
After you've done this, you can go in and uninstall the "GWX" program which is the offer download program, and that will remove the icon from the taskbar. There are several references on the web about this and how to stop it / remove it. The information I've put here comes from this - http://serverfault.com/questions/695916/registry-key-gpo-to-disable-and-block-windows-10-upgrade -
Solar Panel Issues?
LordFerret replied to Choctofliatrio's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
If you put your cursor on the part in the parts list in the VAB and right-click for the expanded description, it says "Panels cannot be retracted". -
You should know better than to ask that... and if you don't, now you do..... here comes the mod lock hammer.

Weird view behavior... not seen this before.
LordFerret replied to LordFerret's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Again... the Kerbal isn't the active object, the rover is. The Kerbal should be just standing there, period. When I took the screenshot for the ORBITAL view, I did so quickly, before it actually settled into orbital view which would have been up-side down. I rotated the image in Gimp slightly to keep the rover's orientation in the picture set consistent. I have FreeEVA installed, which I use out in space while (a Kerbal is out) on EVA. It wasn't being used here. As for the *new* mouse double right-click to rotate the camera view around; I'm not liking it. Many a time I need to right-click on a part (checking things or accessing a property in the menu that I didn't assign to an Action Key) - which often, because there's no response, I'll have to click on more than once, and now I find all of the sudden that dragging the mouse anywhere changes the view. Nope, not liking it. -
I don't need a computer tell me what's what and when to do this that or the other thing ... I have governments and politicians and people of all sorts from all walks of life around me who supposedly know everything and know better and know what's best for me. And you're worried about the dangers of AI? LOLZ!!!

I was rovering around on Mun (again), and I noticed some weird view behavior. This is the first time I've seen this, but if any of you have already (or if this is old hat) let me know. In the pictures below, the rover is the selected active craft. AUTO view ... everything normal here. FREE view ... everything still normal. ORBITAL view ... uh, not quite normal here. What's up with my Kerbal? (I rotated the image a little for comparison's sake) CHASE view ... we're back to normal. LOCKED view ... uh, not normal again, he's stargazing I'll guess. Weird. All I did here was switch views. The rover was active. I had driven it up on autopilot (probe core) to pick up this Kerbal. I didn't run him over or knock him down, and I didn't do any switching back and forth between the rover and the Kerbal (or anything else). Just changing views put him in the positions you see. Is this something new or what? Weird. Never had this happen before.

First it was Minmus... now it's Mun as well. I was rovering around on Mun (again), and I ran across this (literally lol)... another split seam, and it goes on for quite a way. Yes, this one is 'full of stars' too.
