Yaw how to use it?

Geschosskopf, I pretty much do the same now... although flying around low altitude through mountain passes and such, it becomes a two-handed endeavor. -
Yaw how to use it?
LordFerret replied to Teilnehmer's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I have a stick but it's not hooked up to this machine (it's on my flightsim machine). Yes, having one button/key operate both. I know flightsims offer it (good for the beginner). I'll have to play around and see if that's possible, I've just the small jet to try it out on. Thanks. -
Yaw how to use it?

I've not tried this yet - is it even possible in KSP? ... to auto-coordinate (tie together) aileron/roll and rudder/yaw? -
A question about sub-assemblies and what defines a sub-assembly
LordFerret replied to Major SNAFU's topic in KSP1 Discussion
From personal experience; I've found that to be a quick way to make an engineer very angry. I recommend waiting until after-hours, buying them lots of beers (and then telling them), as it helps soften the blow to their ego. -
Yaw how to use it?
LordFerret replied to Teilnehmer's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Just like piloting a plane (a little Cessna for example), in a turn you'd roll and yaw - coordinated flight (see here and here), rudder and aileron. At high speeds, like with jets, rudders are little used (and usually computer controlled to compensate adverse yaw in aileron turns)... they don't serve much unless you're under 300kts (based on what I know of flying an F-16), on the ground keeping you on the runway centerline. -
+1 rep for the 'Dronie' ... first time I've ever heard that one. lol

There were plenty of nifty things one could do with a BLOAD command, like define an array in memory and load the contents of a file into it... the file contents were an assembly subroutine, in binary, where you'd then define the location of the start of that variable in memory (VARPTR), use a DEF SEG statement to initialize a pointer to that segment of memory, and then jump (CALL) that subroutine. That's how we used to make Basic 'fast'.
-
Yes. Actually, Basic has been able to read/write BMP files pretty much right from the beginning... the BLOAD and BSAVE commands.
-
Well, you could take that array and load it up into a Basic program (QB64 for example {documentation}, or any other language you have access to/proficiency in for that matter), and create an image array (SCREEN and/or _NEWIMAGE command) and PSET the gray-scale decimal values into that image array ... then just have Basic write the array out as a BMP file (SAVEIMAGE command). For reference. - - - Updated - - - By the way, what is this 'grid' stored/created with?

I stand corrected! Thanks. -
A question about sub-assemblies and what defines a sub-assembly
LordFerret replied to Major SNAFU's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I believe the problem is that you're trying to drop the 'root' part into sub-assemblies, and that's not permitted. There is a way around this. Whatever it is you're planning on making a sub-assembly, make sure it doesn't contain the root and that it connects to something. For example: This ship, cannot be dropped into sub-assemblies... When you try to do so, it will tell you why... Taking the same ship, removing the chute, and installing a probe core in its place - and then making that probe core the root, then selecting all but the probe core... ...that can be dropped in as a sub-assembly. -
Very rarely do I revert. Instead, what I do, is when I build a rocket intended for a manned mission, I'll slap a probe core on it first. If I can successfully launch and attain orbit, the next launch is without the probe core and with crew instead.

If I might suggest: An old field trick. Tripods, even the best of them, can shake/vibrate. Find yourself a solid enough foundation of adequate height, a boulder or rock/brick wall. Take a few pair of old socks, put plastic bag liners inside them, and fill them with sand/dirt... tie off the end with string or a rubber band. Flop a few of them down and nestle your camera into it... you can push the stuff around and get the framing you need/want. Use the timer delay on the camera (assuming your camera has such) to make the shot. I always carry such stuff along with all my equipment. I do a lot of photomacrography (been doing such for years), and such a field trick works perfect every time. Welcome to my world.

lots of shooting stars: Perseids will be at peak tonight (in europe)
LordFerret replied to Cirocco's topic in The Lounge
10:45pm EST here... I just caught two of them in the past 20 minutes, one of which was quite nice. I'll go back out in a little while and watch for more. We've quite a clear sky here tonight (so far). -
Should aliens ever make their presence known?... this world would fall apart in a day. Why? To answer that, I have a better question: Should they show up, who are you going to listen to and want to follow?... those little green guys with the superior technology who travel through space... or the incompetent government/religious leaders (and media) incessantly yelling at their puppets, telling them what to do.

NameExoWorlds public voting is now underway
LordFerret replied to Streetwind's topic in Science & Spaceflight
This is like naming grains of sand. -
I have filtering software on my computer which when the word "California" pops up, I get a message that says 'You could care less about this' and then it moves me to the next page/article ... similar to my Kardashian filter, which groans in pain, farts, and then moves on.

Sent Soho1 to Kerbol. Close to it anyway. Close enough that the solar panels burned off and heated the entire ship to the point of glowing. Soho2 will try using heat shields, and get even closer.

sal_vager, check this out.
-
Heh heh... I view the same references, plus this one.

Backbone connections between Verizon, SBC, Level3, and Savvis are having troubles this morning... high latency and packet loss.
