Yesterday, I did a mun landing. The rocket should have gotten enough ∆V for LKO, Transfer to mun, landing and return to Kerbin with only a couple m/s of ∆V left, so I risked Jeb's life to try out. Guess what? I landed on mun, returned to Kerbin and had about 4 Liquid Fuel left. That was close The important thing about Delta V with those mods is that they calculate The delta v Of your rocket assuming that you Stage it perfect. For example, you decouple The boosters in The same Moment as they run out Of fuel. Try to always have a couple hundreds Of delta v over what you might need according to The delta v map because you can always make a mistake^^ Wargh.. Writing this was horror xD why doesn't Android simply switch The keyboard language when typing english? #justmacuserproblems Volcanix

Finally! Does using FAR / NEAR make the planes have less power or more? And is FAR really 'required' for the planes to work? Won't they fly with stock aerodynamics? The planes look great. Is there some trick in placing something in the cargo bay of SP+? Because, always when I try to attach one node to another, KSP wants me to place it on the bottom of the cargo bay. I hope you know what I mean <.< -
Right click to close sci-bay jr. and goo pods
Volcanix replied to r4pt0r's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Wait, you can CLOSE the science bay door and goo canisters? Oh. Hehe. Yeah, a possibility for closing it with the right-click menu would be a good idea. *integrates science-closing action groups in his rockets* By the way, what's up with your signature? did you have to change it to the kitten? xD -
First of all, welcome to the forums! If you want to know if your rocket has got enough fuel to reach orbit or other planets, you should use an information mod like MechJeb or Kerbal Engineer Redux. Here are the links: MechJeb MechJeb is a mixture between an information mod for telling you some interesting stats about your ship and an autopilot mod. It can, for example, fly your ship into orbit without having you doing anything (if I understood it correctly) or other things like docking. I don't use the mod myself so I haven't got any experience of it. KER - Kerbal Engineer Redux I use this mod for information about my ship. You just attach a computer chip - like thing on your ship and a window appears telling you the stats about your ship. It shows the ∆V (delta V) and TWR (thrust weight ratio, see UmbralRaptor's post for further details). The TWR is also really important because it gives you information about how quickly your ship can get up into the air. If you got a TWR of 1, your ship can hover. Nothing more, nothing less. With a TWR under 1, it won't be able to lift or hover, because the weight is to high for the thrust provided by the engines in your stage. A TWR over 1 gives your ship the ability to liftoff, at around 1,6 you get kind of a comfortable liftoff. One personal "rule" I've got for my ships: The stages I use to get in orbit (the stages that lift the rocket in the atmosphere) must have a high TWR, goal is 2, but under 1,4 it gets really uncomfortable when you fly upwards. You should find that out yourself! A rocket with a huge engine and tiny tank for example has a high TWR, which means that it will accelerate really quickly BUT if the TWR is too high, the atmospheric drag will slow you down so your rocket will become ineffective. Experiment around with that a little. The first tutorial in my signature shows some good ships that also helped me with ship design. Try it out! If you've still got questions, just ask them. The forum is the right place for it! Volcanix

"just had a Gravity" What ? What does that mean? Did the debris fly-by or crash into your Kerbal? I'm interested. I usually don't care much about Debris. Terminating it from the tracking station only removes it from the TS (tracking station), doesn't it? Or does it destroy the vessel? Cause that would be a bit cheaty. Can somebody tell me?

Hey there, welcome to the Forum! I also had that bug sometimes. When I started playing KSP and walked away like 20m from my ship I just heard *puff* and my Kerbal.. Exploded? Since then I don't walk away too far from my vessels Since then I always try to bring a rover with me to prevent it. Volcanix

Realistic Rockomax "Mainsail" Liquid Engine
Volcanix replied to SybyAbraham's topic in KSP Fan Works
Oh my god! That is AWESOME! Keep up the great work, I look forward to seeing the Skipper! Maybe you could do the Mk1 Command Pod or the Mk 1-2 command pod, if some other people want that to? Just render some stuff (I'm pretty sure it's not that easy as it seems like in my text... excuse me^^) till you got a little rocket! -
Circumnavigate Kerbin...BY FOOT.
Volcanix replied to MedwedianPresident's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Before you make a challenge, PLEASE, first type some rules. Is rescaling allowed? Timewarp mods (if there are some)? Mass Relays? Seriously, please think a little bit before you make a challenge like this. I'm pretty sure no one will take the time to circumnavigate Kerbin with a Kerbal. -
Googled "Wanderfound Kerbodyne". Was not disappointed. Found mostly some planes from you, but one page was kinda.. I don't know what I should say.. That site copied your content and posted it there with Ads. Or was that you? You should really make a thread where you post all of them. I bet its gonna be popular
-
Never been to anywhere beyond the Kerbin system. To be honest, I've never tried it out. I'm busy building spaceplanes and stations in LKO.
-
What does shucks mean? (non-native english speaker here) *uses Google Translator* Oh no, that was meant seriously! I'm pretty sure I've seen a couple of your spaceplanes around somewhere, have you got a thread or something for it? And about that tail off-blowing, is that only because of FAR? I had FAR and thought "Oh yeah finally I can fly some fighter jets realistically", so I turned, pulled full up at full throttle and BANG! Aerodynamic failure. I think I'm gonna reinstall it soon if I've got enough time to build some spaceplanes, currently I'm working on a space station. Maybe I could use the spaceplanes to bring the parts into orbit? Not a bad idea, tho. *starts KSP*

Haha your profile pic made me laugh So, if I understood it correctly, you want to get active on the forum, right? Welcome! Have fun

Ad Lunam - Final Update 2015-05-31
Volcanix replied to Cydonian Monk's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
This looks interesting. Keep up the work, I'm looking forward to reading new reports. Subscribed! -
Hey there, welcome to the forums. I'm pretty sure that your name has something to do with Minecraft, but I may be mistaken. You said you have many questions, just ask them! Just make sure to post it in the right forum section. Oh, and another thing. You can edit your post, so there is no need to post a second answer. You can also multi-quote other people. I recommend reading the Forum FAQ, everything important stands there. Good Luck with your mun landing. Don't forget to quick save before if something goes wrong. Post pictures and tell us about it! Have fun on the forum (and, sure, also in KSP!) Volcanix

Exploring The System - A design tutorial campaign 0.90 Final
Volcanix replied to Pecan's topic in KSP1 Tutorials
Oh, yeah. Didn't think about that. But I'm sure it will take a lot of time for me to build something like that.. I'll see. That's a good tip. One of the things I often forget when launching a vehicle, like preparing the staging.. Especially on little rockets. I start the plane and the engine ignites in the same stage where the parachute deploys. "Jeb, I told you it wouldn't work!" EDIT Just finished making that mission logbook thing. If you're interested, just look here, your suggestions always help me! -
Welcome to the Forum! That efficiently-getting-into-orbit thing is also something that I still need to learn. I hope I'll figure it out soon xD To cover up some questions I would recommend reading the Forum FAQ. It prevented me from posting threads about stupid questions.. except for one. Urgh, never mind. Have fun on the Forum!

Exploring The System - A design tutorial campaign 0.90 Final
Volcanix replied to Pecan's topic in KSP1 Tutorials
Wait, 2-5 units of mono prop for an experienced player? That's nearly nothing. And 38 refills are a whole lot. But who knows. Maybe someday a ship will come from a wide interplanetary mission, and won't have enough mono prop to dock. Okay, moving a station isn't realistic, buuu.. I'm just gonna construct a new one. I've got enough time. I connected the launch vehicle and the station with a couple of struts. Maybe the problem is, as you've said, that the top part is really heavy. Just gonna construct a new one, maybe I'll post it in a new thread, maybe not. I'm gonna edit this post then. -EDIT- After trying out a lot of stupid things in sandbox and then trying to rescue Jeb from the old station and noticing that I only build wobbling Lifters I decided to forget that save and make a new one. In the new one, I try to build the best (easy-to-steer and maybe cost-efficient) Lifters for LKO. Maybe we can make a challenge out of this, if you want to. I will lose, however, but I think it'll encourage me to rethink my designs. Maybe we make two sections, one for cost-efficient rockets, and one for low-tech rockets? Or have you got other ideas? Wait, you didn't say you participate yet. -

What other action gives you a message? Have I missed something from KSP? I thought it would only give you a message when you finished a contract. -
Hey there, welcome on the KSP Forum. You work at sea? Where, when I may ask? On a ship or on something else? I'm interested! However, would be great to hear something about that. Have fun on the Forum, and if you've got questions, just ask!

Exploring The System - A design tutorial campaign 0.90 Final
Volcanix replied to Pecan's topic in KSP1 Tutorials
Of course you can give good answers. I understand (nearly) everything, otherwise I just type the word I don't understand in Google Translator. For translating single words it's great, but the sentence by Google shows that it doesn't put out good sentences. I think what you were trying to say was "Ich habe vier Jahre Deutsch im Gymnasium gelernt." What you said (what GT said, to be correct) was I was taught four years german in gymnasium (i honestly don't know if there is an english word for that). With that 'seit vier Jahre' it sounds like you are in school / learning german since four years. Or did you mean you learned german for four years? There's a difference between that, right? Since means you're still learning it and for is when you learned it in the past. Our english teacher told us this like 10 times and said every time that graduates make that mistake every year and we have to watch out for it. Oh, and one thing that is interesting, over the past year, my english error quotient (number of mistakes divided by the number of words) has gotten better than my german error quotient. Maybe it's just my english teacher being nice to me (my grades increased) and my german teacher showing me her hate (my grades decreased ) but I don't think so. However, I always get bad grades at german exams.. And good ones at english. They are far more easy compared to the german exams. You don't have time to play KSP? That's sad. Do you need to do that much for school and other stuff? I also got a lot to do for school but currently, it's vacation. So, no need to worry about school! Even on normal school days I've got about 2-3 hours left to do something on my computer or else. But sometimes I don't want to, so I just watch YouTube videos or - how I do now - write on the forums. Are you still in school or have you already graduated? I just had a quick look at the trailer of Bargain Rockets and it looks pretty funny. However I think i will now start writing my Mission Report thread thing. All that new mods just distract me from what I want to do on my save game and sometimes I just delete my sandbox save full of hours of work and later I regret it. (regret heißt bereuen, richtig? <-- nobody will understand that, I guarantee it). Why is that thing cursive after copy-pasting? Nevermind. Yeah, I think I'll just gonna hop back into KSP, take some pictures of the KSS, and then post a thread about it. Maybe I'll call it "Jebediah's Adventures".. or "The Kerbal Motion Mission Logbook"... I'm usually extremely uncreative, but this seems to go out well. The monopropellant tank is for refueling and - yeeees - docking. I didn't practice docking much, but I've done it twice and it worked out pretty well so I just hope I can do it again when constructing my station. But there is one thing that really bothers me. When I flied ... flought ... flight? (dear english god, help me ) my station core with the launcher up to LKO, it wobbled. And it didn't wobble just a little bittle (just a little bittle bittle, tziiiiiiing xD), it wobbled that much that I needed to try again 4 times, and it only worked then because I decoupled my boosters (not SRBs, Rockomax Skipper-powered-boosters) a bit early with about 25% fuel left and then.. it still wobbled, but I could control it with 12 RCS thrusters and an ASAS module. Do you know what causes this? or do I just need MOAR STRUTS? Oh, and about that Tractor rocket thing from your tutorial. Do you use it to tow your rockets from one planet orbit to another, or do you only use it for adjusting your current orbit? No problem! Your tutorial is really helpful so why not? And do that rocket design thing. Looking at this tutorial, you are great at writing these! Volcanix -
You are the god for spaceplanes, aren't you? That plane looks awesome. Have you managed to land it at KSC after the test?
