Why fire Kerbals when you can just kill them? You don't even need to "waste" a rocket for that. Just put a booster on the bottom of a command capsule, put parachutes on the booster / command capsule so you can recover it, and launch it. Just let the Kerbals EVA during the ascent and they die. I feel bad for writing this. Kerbals are innocent. Don't kill them.

RSI Constellation Phoenix from Star Citizen
Volcanix replied to Westi29's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Oh. I feel really stupid now Maybe that's why KSO doesn't work? Is there a way to download an older version from steam? -

Hey there Porkjet, seems like not the only german around here I've got a little question, it seems like your mod is compatible with .24.2, why is there still standing 0.23.5 in the title? And are there any news on future updates?

Resources and how could they be more interesting ?
Volcanix replied to Justin Kerbice's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
@Justin Kerbice & southern rock Maybe, if you got time, we could get together via a Skype group or something like that and start working on that? I think I've seen a mod which allows to redesign the tech tree and I'm sure some people who are interested can help. I could test out the stuff, and maybe do some modeling if blender works on mac. *googles it* Tell me if you are interested, I love the idea. -
Nice mod, any news on this one? I'm interested in the IntakeAir generator

Heißt es nicht in den neuen Devotes dass sie Spaceplane+ in einer leicht abgeänderten Form ins Spiel bringen wollen? das würde mir ziemlich gut gefallen
-
When I've seen that you've answered this thread I already thought "I bet it's an SSTO made with SP+." So, you use your planes to drive around and collect samples?

Volcanix replied to Justin Kerbice's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
I've got some free time today. Should I make a save game with Kethane and maybe TAC life-support where I set up a couple of tank rovers or should I build some kethane deposit tanks with converter units and provide the craft file? If so, should with which mods, do you have some ideas what the design should come with? -
I'm not sure, but when an asteroid hits Kerbin I think it just lays down at the surface and ... well, does nothing. But I'm not sure on this one.

Volcanix replied to Justin Kerbice's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
Do you mean something like this? I discovered that series a while ago and I'm a bit disappointed because he doesn't bring out new episodes really often. But, looking at the concept itself, just having a bit of fuel at the beginning with your kethane scanner and then being completely dependent on your drills and transporters? Was that what you mean? Or just the same thing with Karbonite? I bet it would be possible to create a save game for this, at least with the modification that liquid fuel tanks are empty from the beginning but your first ship can be fueled or something like that. I like the idea! Subscribed -

Woaaah, awesome! Nice to see you are also on the forum! The first link somehow doesn't work, but in the video description it's fine. How did you get B9 to work in .24 ? Is there some .. update somewhere? -
Not really that complicated, but it's an awesome idea! Is the rover connected with the frame over the docking port at the bottom? Have you got more screenshots?

Kerbodyne SSTO Division: Omnibus Thread
Volcanix replied to Wanderfound's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I forgot the altitude, but it was in the mountains near the space center. And about that brake thing, I always thought it was a bug that when disabling the brakes that the plane doesn't start driving. Maybe I should download MechJeb. But first I'm gonna continue on building my space station in LKO and send a rover onto mun's surface. No, not with SSTOs. Even if I would like to <.< -
Kerbodyne SSTO Division: Omnibus Thread
Volcanix replied to Wanderfound's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
My angle of attack... Yeah, that is the problem. I want the rocket to pull up (the prograde marker) so it stops falling. The problem is, if I start the engine trying to stop the fall, it flips over.. Also, another problem, more engine power means I have to pay more attention to my controls.. To the Pt... plane: It was during takeoff. It didn't get much speed and lost altitude. So I pulled up the pitch *SLOWLY* and well... then I lost control. Yeah, the game didn't reset my throttle. Checked that^^ -
Kerbodyne SSTO Division: Omnibus Thread
Volcanix replied to Wanderfound's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
So, after some testing the conclusion: I flew the Kerbodyne Benchmark and it flies pretty good. Done a flight into orbit with about half the fuel left, sadly, stupid KSP aerodynamics caused it to flip over during reentry.. However, it's a good plane. (or it is just easy enough to fly) It got to about 1200 m/s until the rapiers switched to rocket mode. Worked well! I've also tested the Ptertananadado... ehh.. sorry I forgot the name No matter in which angle I pulled up, 30, 40, 45, more caused it to flip over, it didn't fly upwards. Have I forgotten something? Or am I just stupid? -
My rocket keeps tipping
Volcanix replied to pokemonareugly's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Oh yeah good that you mentioned it, maybe an SAS module would help. The command pod has nearly nothing on SAS force in relation to that giant rocket. @pokemonareugly (nice name btw ) Try adding some SAS modules from the control section in the VAB. I don't know if there is a special place for them where they are more effective, but I usually place them under my command pod. If that's not enough, maybe attach some right over the boosters or one over the tricoupler. And please post screenshots -
Kerbodyne SSTO Division: Omnibus Thread
Volcanix replied to Wanderfound's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I'm gonna do that later. I'm currently also experimenting around with SSTO's which bring station parts to LKO, but I don't really get it.. *searches another tutorial on youtube* And yeah, I've already gone through that tutorial in my signature. I don't always build spaceplanes, but when I do, it takes years to reach the higher atmosphere. -
My rocket keeps tipping
Volcanix replied to pokemonareugly's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I'm sure it starts tipping after it starts wobbling around. First of all, try to strengthen some connections between the upper stage and the tricoupler. It would be great if you could post a screenshot on a page like Imgur or elsewhere so people can have a look at your design -
Hey there, welcome to the forum(s)! I'm pretty sure you would have enough room for errors (regarding fuel) when you just went into a 70km x 70km orbit. Remember, Kerbin's atmosphere only goes up to (nearly) 70km. Like Master Tao said, point the ship retrograde (best at the Apoapsis), get Jeb out the ship and push it from behind (at the engine, if you've got it there) with the Jetpack. But get back soon enough so your jetpack won't run out of fuel! Tell us if you've managed to get him back on Kerbin. I'm interested.

I played the tabletop and also Dawn of War. The tabletop isn't really in my favor, its pretty expensive and i don't see much suspense in it. I once collected Tau because I liked their design the most, but I gave them to a friend of mine who collects space marines and also some other ... ehh... some other... eeeeeeh... eeeh.... eeh.. armies? I guess that's the right word. you seem to be a big fan of Tau, looking at your title, avatar and signature Have fun with it, the game is great, the tabletop pretty expensive. But everyone should have his own opinion on that^^ Volcanix

Kerbodyne SSTO Division: Omnibus Thread
Volcanix replied to Wanderfound's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Daaaamn, those are nice. But the design of the Kerbodyne Komet doesn't look really stable.. Even with all these struts, those boosters don't seem very trusty to me It's nice that you also put up some planes for stock. I can't really fly with FAR, even if I've got around 300 hours and 200 landings in FSX, but well.. there is a difference xD Keep it up -
Adding Kerbal Engineer Redux or just a little information text showing you the ∆V and TWR would be great. New spaceplane parts, like those in spaceplane plus, would also be great. I really think the spaceplane parts should be improved. What about Mk2 Cockpit IVA? It's not that big thing (I think) and would encourage some people to actually use it If new spaceplane parts are going to be added, on ticket for the hype train please

Woah.. That's by far the best I've seen around, from simple tables to huge pictures. But to be honest, I do not know what the symbols of some things mean? Oh wait. There they are explained. Consider me being blind sometimes. <.< Haha... After doing a successful mun landing yesterday in my sandbox save I decided to accept the "Explore Mun" contract in my career save game and done it. I thought "ohmergawd that yesterday was SOOO close I need MOAAAAAR ∆V!!" so after landing on and setting a collision course on Kerbin I still got about 1.300m/s of ∆V left. I'm sure I could've gotten to Minmus... My rocket wasn't really cheap, it costed about 75.000 funds. I still made a lot of profit But I'm drifting away from the topic. Sorry. If someone's interested in the trip beginning from short-before-mun-landing, here's a little imgur album:

Not sure where you'd like to download it, but I'm sure it will work if you copy the KSP file and run the KSP apk.. eeehm, exe or however that was called in the game directory. That worked for a friend of mine without even having to change something steam-related, just move it somewhere. But why don't you download it via steam?
