  1. I don't think anyone would abide by that.
  2. Yes, there is only an option to transfer your purchase to steam if you bought the game before it was sold on steam (may 2013 I think but don't quote me on that).
  3. I think this wins at the most discussed topic on the KSP forums 413 posts and counting.
  4. SQUAD, would it be possible to post a list of bug fixes to the forum every so often so those of us that don't have access to the open beta test period can get an idea of whats going on? I have a feeling the community would greatly appreciate it.
  5. Look, everyone who said its about money is correct, but you have to understand the economics of it all. SQUAD is a small company, that means that there resources are limited (more so than a large company) SQUAD chooses (correctly) to not invest a huge amount of their resources in a massive server farm that can cope with everyone downloading new KSP constantly. The reason for this is actually quite simple, those servers would used for one thing and that is downloading KSP. The demand for KSP only outstrips their servers capacity when new updates are released, otherwise it suits their needs fine. They can deal with with this massive increase in server demand temporarily right after updates come out but they wouldn't be able to sustain it for weeks on end. Kaspar is right its just not feasible. I get it I'm disappointed too but were dealing with the laws of physics here, they are true no matter how much we wish them not to be, we know that, we play a game that deals with that every day. Now we have to stop complaining if there was a feasible solution I am positive SQUAD would have found it, they are a clever group of people after all. EDIT: I thought of a clever solution, rolling updates. So essentially each account on the KSP store would be given an a time window (10min?) in which to download the latest version of the game, the time window would be recurring (as the build version is updated) but wouldn't necessarily occur each time the build was updated. The cycle time would be dependent on how many connections their server could handle at any given time and how many store accounts their are. So even if the version is updated several times a day, one would only be able to download the latest version once every three days or so. Its not a perfect solution, it may not be possible or feasible. Just an idea.
  6. IMHO SOON tm is not an invalid amount of time, the cool thing about KSP is that every week the devs tell us what they are up too and it seems like they are spending their time wisely, the unity five update took longer than expected. So what? They commited to finishing it and they are unwilling to release a seriously broken product post 1.0.
  7. Perhaps pilot and engineer would be a better combo, or better yet just an engineer.
  8. The coolest part of this whole thing is how they detailed how they came up with the random winners.
  9. I think the addition of comets would be a cool post 1.0 addition, maybe in a cooperation with the ESA.
  10. Part test contracts that require you to take the part through a certain flight regime, such as run the LV-N atomic motor for 30 seconds between 10km and 15km between 200m/s and 500m/s. In addition to being more realistic these contracts would actually require a bit more thinking and planing than the currnet, strap a sold onto a part and wait until all the boxes are checked and then hit the space bar type part test contracts.
  11. When SQUAD feels that the game is 100% ready to release i would advise them to announce the release date, which would be a month or so after the announcement, this would allow for PR and any bug squashing that suddenly cropped up. Also I think it would be cool for them to release it to everyone who bought the game before .90 24hrs earlier, for no other reason than i want to play 1.0 as soon as is reasonable, but I completely understand why they wont ever do this.
  12. As long as there isn't any physics involved in the facial expressions I think you can take advantage of multi threading (unity multithreads, it just dent multithread physics) so i don't see this being a performance issue
  13. To point number two, no matter what the chutes should always point in the opposite direction the airflow, which will generally be the negative of your velocity vector, but the rest I agree with. I will say however that drag chutes should be much lighter than the main chutes and create more drag in the upper atmosphere than main cutes by virtue of the fact that there wouldn't be enough air flow to fully open the big heavy main chute, while the lighter drag chute would work just fine. Also radial drag chutes would be nice, maybe with the same texture as the current one but with orange stripes instead of blue, this might even save a bit of memory, but I'm not sure.
  14. I think we need to keep a core team that everyone has, but can be fired/deleted/whatever. This is for the same reason that the planets should always be the same for everyone, so players can relate to each other. When some one comes along and says something like "my ship crashed on Duna, and Jeb died" I know almost exactly who they feel as apposed to "my ship crashed on Duna and Bobert Kerman died." This is because I don't give a crap about Bobert he doesn't mean anything to me, I don't know who he is. Where as with Jeb we have a connection, not just to our respective Jebs but to everyone else Jeb. Its something we can all relate to. If you don't like having to start with preset Kerbals then fire them all and choose your own, you should absolutely have that option and right now you do. But for those of us who like having some of the same Kerbals as everyone else, who like having something that we can all relate to, keep the original three and add one or more female Kerbals who can complement the original three. PS, I don't know why we have to name the the original female Kerbals after real astronauts but if we decide that thats what we want to do I recommend Peggy Kerman. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peggy_Whitson She has been on two expeditions to the ISS (and will soon fly on another) has flown on the shuttle twice (was commander once), holds the record to the most cumulative time spent space walking by a female, as was the former chief astronaut. As far as astronauts go, she is kinda a badass.
  15. I think this would be a great addition to a game that is, after all, about little green men with a talent for engineering and a love of snacks, to have
  16. You could probably combine the propeller part and the helicopter rotor part into one part to save RAM.
  17. Perhaps the likelihood of a Kerbal doing something stupid could be determined by the "stupidity" trait.
  18. As I'm sure we all know KSP has just entered the beta stage in development, although the beta tag is not entirely descriptive of the development of KSP I still believe that it is time for some much needed bug squashing. So my question is what are the devs plans regarding bug fixes? do they plan on releasing an update (perhaps .92) that is dedicated to eradicating some of the most disruptive bugs? or will they, with each update include some bug fixes from pervious versions of the game? Which would be easier/more time efficient.
  19. I really think idle animations would be a great place to start with this, as AI is a really big job.
  20. this would be cool, but would have to be implemented correctly as to not clash with the skill set of the pilots.
  21. I was wondering if it would be feasible for SQUAD to upload squadcasts to their KSP youtube channel, and if they can I think they should do it, its always nice to get an update about whats going on from Max and see what missions is going on, but its not always possible for me to catch it live and I don't think I'm the only one with this issue. Just a small suggestion but it would be quite a big help.
  22. Another suggestion is that satellites that are fulfill a fine print contract are placed in a separate category, perhaps called satellites?
  23. I think it would make sense to have to have the engine running throughout the entirety of the set speed or altitude they specify. that makes more sense than activate it at the right time.
