  1. I myself find your space simulator lacking.. you have stock mark 1 to 3 aircraft and rocketry parts but there is not yet (waiting for 1.0?) any stock train parts.. docking ports make poor couplings..rover wheels make poor rail wheels and you dont have any stock cockpit that could be used as a cab! and you call yourself kerbal space program how is anyone ment to construct a decent railway with this?! please include at the very least a kerbal version of the LCC1 overland train.. plus steam physics and coal..none of this arty farty rocket fuel
  2. still standing on the side of the cab that once was a part of a 44 Class mk2 locomotive that was bound for bombo station outpost on a fuel train run... a mark 3 rescue train arrived lastnight and made a 30km trip to KSC.....stupidly without jeb...hes still waiting for tonights return train
  3. I did a stupid... Resuming from my last update a few pages back.. I fired up KTP-44 IIIs engines from the overnight layover after I got home from work with the idea of getting her back to KSC with 4 kerbals including jeb.. I been at work all day in real life...im not all there I guess Using my xbox steering wheel and throttle arrangement.. driving landliner trains home can be a relaxing activity.. something to unwind with after work.. I drove 30 or so km home to KSC only to find I had 2 crew..the original 2 that drove the train to the crash site.. Jeb... well hes still looking at the flag planted in memory of bill and bob .. 30km away comforted by a pile of broken train parts and a friend I forgot the name of... KTP-44 III now sits shutdown in KSC yard... awaiting tomorrow.. Weekend... where she'll be driven back to pickup jeb..
  4. Shunting in general..trying to manually uncouple a fuel tanker from a locomotive to replace with a passenger carriage.. without something exploding.. running away or going for a swim at the bottom of a hill that all seem to run towards the sea forcing me to cheat and couple the desired train type already assembled in the SPH.. that and actually using a train more than twice in its lifetime class numbers are ment to indicate type and number of a thing.. not how many exploded horribly never to return LL1012
  5. So I wake up at the start of a kerbin sunrise..insulated by my spacesuit from the cold morning.. I eat breakfast...BIRDS...the only other life form on kerbin besides kerbals and...jeb leaving my house... a patch of grass with a flag that reads "my house"... 30km from KSC.. the only buildings on kerbin besides charred remains of space parts on this not too bright morning a train is taken from my house to KSC.. Shes a Landliner KS3 class overland train....or as some would say.. a widowmaker.. as evident by the markings on the side of the locomotive.. "Mark 3" that tells me atleast 3 of this kind of train existed before this one.. no one ever sees a fleet of trains lined up so...of course the other two must have followed the kerbal tradition.. becoming one with the fire, explosions and screaming...terrible screaming! life on kerbin is bleak.. empty..lifeless in contrast the mun is made of cheese where one never has to eat a bird.. minmus is made of mint icecream and duna a giant ball of cinnamon candy would i get onboard any rocket to escape kerbin YES
  6. Drove 30km with a newly designed locomotive to rescue Jeb Kerman - Only surviving crew member of former 44 Class Mark 2 - http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/29533-What-did-you-do-in-KSP-today?p=1792022&viewfull=1#post1792022 Questionably though I forgot I was only going to rescue a single kerbal and took along a full 4 car fuel tanker train.. which gave me all the similar challenges and risks that lead to the loss of the first train.. Some emergency braking... along with switching the bogeys into reverse for some careful dynamic braking as we descended steep down-grades.. the last car fishtailed quite alot at one point with the speed.. but finally we arrived.. picked up jeb.. planted a flag and shutdown for the night and the return trip on the weekend So far the toll for attempting to do a fuel run to Bombo Outpost - 80km from KSC to top up its generators for lighting and pickup an extra kerbal is 3 Landliner trains.. 6 kerbals.. and alot of sadness to a once proud fleet.. the last successful fuel run was along the coast. safer. flat.. Pretty... but long.. this is the cost of driving directly with only mild regard for terrain rather than porting around mountains, hills.. and oddly shaped terrain
  7. I bid a firey farewell to KTP-44 IIx along with the loses of bill and bob kerman... Jeb survived as he was in the cab, Bill was in the leading nose section.. Bob was in the gaurds compartment at the rear of the locomotive, So there we were.. battling up a hill around half way to 82km from KSC Bombo outpost station.. Landliner trains much like their rail bound cousins cant turn all too quick and need to be driven in transition type curves with gentle management.. In a moment of misguided inspiration with the energetic tones of the moody blues pumping along side the twin engine generator transmission out of my headphones.. (damn you - ride my see saw!!) I carelessly took a curve far too sharply, resulting in the locomotive going on her side... once the elastic effects of a full coupled train made itself apparent, the entire train was on her side alas.. the battle was lost.. one wagon hit the dirt hard and detonated. followed by everything else at 31m/s it was all over too quickly The nose section and gaurd compartments that houses bill and bob evaporated.. while the slightly reinforced cab rolled along the ground to a halt with only one backup battery remaining attached.. Jeb.. once again greeted by a bogeys.. broken and spinning wheels.. Nothing else remained to tell the world that thar once be a train here
  8. KSP Taught me one simple thing and the answer to a great question of science Time Travel IS Possible but only forwards, not backwards... To achieve this miracle of science and technology.. you simply do 3 things Get out of bed on weekend - Turn on PC - Load up KSP for "10 minutes" before starting the day Then look outside.. its dark now... its not Morning anymore, thats not sunrise.. its sunset.. You have now Time-Traveled over 12 hours.. Tomorrow is work...
  9. Irony at its best.. see over a year ago I designed what became the first of a class of land-trains...because I lost a plane in the mountain regions outside of KSC.. Jeb was stranded and any plane sent crashed on landing.. so I made a train... this was over a year ago.. now trains for everything and no more planes so yesterday I was modding power requirements and torque on the bogeys along with alternator output.. and accidentally created a monster.. my locomotive KSP-44 Mark 3 showed no hesistation as she climbed a hill with 4 cars.. impressed by this.. I throttled up with jeb as the driver and head towards the mountain.. yes.. those mountains.. becoming more impressed with what was done.. wheels at 1 ton each.. etc the train just kept climbing the mountain.. until she was almost vertical still climbing at 8m/s.. until I reached the top of a peak and was greeted by a sudden flat section... KTP-44 is nothing but a fuel tank.. on many fuel tanks, hauling fuel tanks... the underside of the mid mounted fuel tank caught the edge of the mountain.. exploded.. the locomotive split in 2.. exploding again.. following it 2 remaining fuel tankers also exploded.. Jeb... now sits in the cab.. that somehow survived with Bill and Bob.. ontop of a mountain.. stranded..with a pile of bogeys thats become a signature sign that thar once be a train here.... the very same mountain and similar position that I lost a plane a year ago
  10. Wagon 75: someone installed a claw as a refueling device.. it could single-handedly call upon the kracken and end the world as we know it
  11. I usually go for a kerbalised eqvillent of something in mind when I built the original vehicle.. which lately are just all trains.. Carriage numbers mostly.. but originally based in honour of the australian Landliner buses which kind of looked like a train on land rather than rails.. hence the first train was LL1001x experimental vehicle.. it followed a full class set upto LL1009..which sadly included horrific loss of kerbal life.. eg.. only a new class was established and redesigned following a catastrophic failure rather than a better design upgrade the later trains envolved into lookalike realworld diesels in kerbal space part form .. thus KS-3 for my RS-3 road shunter and KTP-44 as a reference to a NSWGR 44 class diesel electric of which she has a passing resemblence as for simply naming though.. im really hoping someone could make a mod where we could use flip-dot type mini matrix display that we could install on the side/front of things in radial fashion.. name, class number.. kerbal honour too.. vs just naming the tag.. something that'd show up proudly with the GUI off.. that'd be awesome
  12. Not too sure if its been completed I guess so.. but id like to contribute anyway.. Here is one of the early experiments with trains propelled by jets rather than electric (over a year ago).. proving that anything above 50m/s ends baddly.. with the sombre recovery of any surviving crew by a rescue train sent the next day.. A current generation Diesel-Electric KTP-44 class with a kerbal driver at a photo stop before shutting down for the night And lastly - something in between the two.. a mid generation landliner passenger train departs KSC to crew an outpost station
  13. does this include exploding runways? something I rather hate with god like proportions.. why should a runway explode?.. there I was marshalling my fuel wagons into a long 10 car train with 2 locos on the front.. when the final coupling manuver to couple up the last car to the train caused half of the train to jump.. less than 2cm i'd say off the runway and land back harmlessly.. this was over 4000 units of fuel by this time with modified wheels that are twice as heavy as stock.. with that slight bounce.. the runway exploded.. taking both locomotives and 3/4 of the train with it.. all that survived was the lead locomotives cab.. with a smiley jeb at the throttle with bill and bob in dire distress.. as much as I was at this point does this ever happen to anyone with aircraft by the way? or are my trains simply too heavy? has anyone ever had the runway explode on landing?
  14. The landliner 3rd generation design is over a year old now.. but I knew things were getting a little serious than simply making a train like thing in KSP... when I lost one.. for some reason.. unlike all the other prototypes.. this one ment something.. and unknowing to myself.. be it the lighting or something else unexplained.. even the kerbals themselves seemed sad.. I sent another train to the crash site to plant a flag and pay my respects.. ..driving to the wreckage seemed very surreal.. and driving away as the train left the crash site actually felt like a real farewell to a lost friend
  15. Uncoupling a train to replace the locomotive.. using the old twin buffer docking port couplers on an early model freight streamlined landliner train half of the train decided physics wasnt for it.. and happily floated into the sky with fuel lines stretched like elastic.. leaving the locomotive and crew idling nearby wondering what the hell just happened... that and refueling Mount Kembla station with the claw... only for everything to go black, the blue sun of ages appear.. and everything fall into a dark place with multiple explosions signaling.. no ones coming home today.. because there is no home... there is only a blue sun and nothingness.. claw kracken taken moments after this peaceful scene.. it all went wrong
  16. ...it was before runways seemingly explode as though its nuclear powered cement
  17. last week I attempted to send a full train to the other side of kerbin.. without spending real life days driving at 26m/s burning 6 car loads of fuel.. She tried.... a brave KSP-44-II Class with her crew attempted to reach orbit.. an odd place for a train.. but not so odd when that train is made of space worthy parts :/ Alas, She did not goto space that day... instead decided to continue on like a landliner should... on the ground.. with several stops when the light fades a little too much to see safely on rough terrain.
  18. there good for deleting... their stock.. but not enough to matter.. hence.. once deleted KSP will run on a system with less than 3gb of ram
  19. Flags I assume like many use them for are more for... shrine markers, tombstones.. to honor the fallen.. used when a train comes off worse against physics horribly with the loss of the cab of any one passenger.. my fuel trains are especially explosive being nothing more than fuel tanks on wheels.. from the very early stages a year ago until today.. a flag represents a terminated train.. and the memory of her crew
  20. I run somewhat ...rusted.. hardware having to delete stock parts to load KSP.. I use samhall's Kv-2 Cockpit alot though .. hence the request.. but if its already capable with your above mod.. thankyou
  21. Added a cabless booster unit to my roster - along with another station 80+ km away from KSC.. a bit noisy.. with 4x detriot diesels chugging away.. but happily cruise at midrange throttle when outside of steep grades or in dynamic braking down a mountain side Bombo station awaits in the distance for some fuel and exchange for 2 passenger cars back to KSC.. 2+ hours driving at moderate speed 25m/s
  22. Small wheel looks about right for my planned o-bahn style guideway.. heres hoping they come soon
  23. Drove KTP-4 further up the mountain, using a base-car's station generator to assist after a previous double heading accident that wrote off a KTP-3... t'was a slow battle of 3m/s.. Bomaderry Outpost station still 30km away... almost 200 units of fuel burned out of 3000.. 35km or so from KSC just outside previous station at the base of the mountain
  24. any chance of adding an overall electrical power meter for charge and generation?.. eg being able to read whats going into the batteries and being taken out without having to use that ugly stock popup thing
  25. +1 I wish the author would return.. his cockpit singlehandedly changed KSP for me. its brought me great joy.. ive modified most of his parts config files to suit my needs and id love to request a few little mods of the 3d models themselves.. im fully capable of making my own.. but this cockpit was just pure class.. im sure many are fond of it in the same way I am.. inline passenger can is in the utility menu for that person whos looking for it, next to the original hitchhiker can.. I use .90 and it appears always in sandbox.. maybe the config file for career mode is off a little?
