  1. Big rockets = lag. Have you found any tips and tricks for achieving better framerates on those crucial first stages? I've turned my quality settings all the way down, and I'm still getting like 0.5 FPS for rockets with about 100 parts and 100 struts. I've found that using the generic canard instead of that older active fin gives huge performance boosts. I've also heard that if you don't look at the ground or the ocean, it runs a little faster.
  2. Caroliano, were you getting better than 1 FPS on the first stage? I know my machine could not handle that, and it's got decent specs (GTX 680, 3.?Ghz i7, 8GB ram) I just don't know how you made KSP handle a rocket that big.
  3. I'm guessing your ship is pretty tall. Connect 6-symmetric struts from a wide point near the middle to the highest point on the craft you can. this will help keep it rigid. It's OK if the struts connect parts from separate stages. they will automatically disconnect. Try putting 4-symmetric canards at the highest possible point. They will be dead weight for the rest of the mission, but they work wonders for stabilizing tall rockets. Also, whenever you have stages connected to the sides, go ahead and use struts to connect the side stages to eachother at the top and bottom, and connect them to the main rocket at at least one place. SAS will be most effective in the middle of the rocket. Try using two or three SAS modules.
  4. So, since the sun is a mass of incandescent gas (or a miasma of incandescent plasma) I wonder if the sun uses the same class as the gas giant....
  5. Nova, Got any rocket building advice for getting out to the gas giant's moons? Can we see what your rocket's look like on the pad before you fly them out there?
  6. Hold q or e to spin up to at least 0.5 Revolutions per second before breaking off the radially coupled junk. their centrifugal momentum will throw them away from the ship.
  7. Nova that is an awesome vid!!! I can't wait to try out these new parts on these new planets. This is going to be the best update yet. The audio in that vid was fitting too. Interesting that you found such a good match. It looks like you vanillized some more mod parts, like the camera, the skinny radial engines, and maybe even the crew tank. ) There seem to be bigger rocks, and this is obviously a new moon. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeexcited!
  8. Why on earth would you do that when you could just take off in the other direction to begin with...
  9. I modified that "final transmision" included here for reference, and made it look more like what I saw in my mind's eye Original: It's a lightspeed boat!
