  1. Greetings everyone. For most users that don't know what AVC is, it's a add-on that check your mods versions at KSP loading and alerts you if a new version was released and advise you to download and maintain your mods up to date. I find this little mod very useful. It does not take any space in you modded KSP. I first, thought about making a petition, but then I thought "what the hell have I the right to petition for something that mod makers give freely?". So, I think a poll where people like me (users) that do not know nothing about modding KSP would like to use this. Also, to know if some modders in the community would start using AVC as a standard in their mods. I'm not going to pretend if it is easy or hard to incorporate AVC in all the mods, no will I try because I do not know nothing about modding KSP (I wish) so, sometimes, in some mods it might not be practical or easy to implement AVC. I leave this to the modders community. If you do not know what AVC is, been you a modder (I doubt it) or a simple gamer like me that uses other peoples mods to enhance my gaming experience (thank you btw) you can check the original thread of the author cybutek: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/79745 Thank you. P.S. There's a typo on the first option of the poll, my keyboard sucks. Sorry about that. It seams there is no way to edit the poll.
  2. Beat you! Yea, I was looking then I went to there and got the dev version. Gonna play and see how it goes. Thank you. Fly safe.
  3. I don't know whats going on.... I do have Mechjeb 2.3, the thread says 2.4, I download it again, and the download gives me 2.3 again while the title says 2.4. This was on Curse.
  4. Oh man, you a life saver! Now that you mention MechJeb, I have seen weird stuff regarding it. For example when I plot a return nod from the mun for example, if I'm low on fuel, I do a aerobraking maneuver around Kerbin to reduce my orbit and then land my complete module. When I adjust the nods to get into Kerbin atmosphere, at a certain altitude a second node appears from nothing. Gonna update it. Thank you so much! P.S. Sorry for not including the mods versions, seams I miss read that one. Again, Thank you.
  5. I'm aware of ram limitations of KSP. I just don't know if the problem is from KPS itself or some mods or the amount of mods. The number of mods installed always worked well in KSP .24. Since the update to .25 my game gets slower, loss of FPS and sometimes crashes. Today it just crashed while I press the button to exit the game... KSP 32bit. Mods installed: - Toolbar - Active Texture management - Chatter - Community Resource Pack - Fineprint - KAS - Navinstruments (ILS for runways) - Kethane - KSP-AVC - MagicSmokeIndustries - Mechjeb - Nav ball docking alignment indicator - ORSX - Protractor - Stage Recover - Station Science - Tac Fuel Balancer - Texture replacer - Surface Lights - TAC Life Support - Umbra Space Industries MKS / OKS All mods updated to 0.25. My (low") PC specs: 5gb ram (I know dont ask) AMD Athlon 64 x2 5000 (2.6mhz) ATI HD7750 Windows 7 Pro 64bit output_log.txt (dropbox) Any insight? Thank you. p.s. I read the instructions, but I do not know how to check if a mod is giving me problems or if it is the amount of them that is hitting the ram limitations. This is my first post asking for support. Hope some tech guy from the community or Squad give me a hit. With no mods the game runs very well. Thank you.
  6. Like the title says. I play ksp 32bit modded, before I never had problems now sometimes it crashes. Where can I get help to know whats the problem is? Can this file (or others) tell someone if it's the game crashing or mods giving problems? All mods are updated to .25. Thank you.
  7. Before the update I was playing very well with my modded ksp. Since 0.25 came out, I have th occasional CTD, also my frame rates really dropped. If no mods are installed, then game runs smoothly (ofc) no complains there. But with mods I got the feeling that 0.25 got a bit more demanding. My PC is not state of the art, in fact I wish I had money to trow it in the garbage. lol These are the mods I use in .24 and still using them in 0.025: - Toolbar - Active Texture management - Chatter - Community Resource Pack - Fineprint - KAS - Navinstruments (ILS for runways) - Kethane - KSP-AVC - MagicSmokeIndustries - Mechjeb - Nav ball docking alignment indicator - ORSX - Protractor - Stage Recouver - Station Science - Tac Fuel Balancer - Texture replacer - Surface Lights - TAC Life Support - Umbra Space Industries MKS / OKS My PC Sepcs (plz do not laugh) 5gb ram (I know dont ask) AMD Athlon 64 x2 5000 (2.6mhz) ATI HD7750 Anyone else have noticed instabilities using the same mods in previous versions of ksp, that now are worse now with 0.25? For example, like me, using the same mods in .24, .24.2 and .25? I'm not asking for support, I just want to have sense of most of the people that play with the same mods over and over after Squad release a new version, that's why I'm posting this here and not in the support section. Please comment if you are still using the same mods and Pc hardware (windows 7 64bit). Oh, and I'm talking about KSP 32bit! I do not play 64bit I know I'm asking for trouble due to my low specs pc and the ammount of mods I'm using, but in .24 never got a problem except the long loading times for the game to load, but that's normal even now. When i tab-switch and check memory usage, ksp is around 2.8gb on services but overall in total usage on my PC it goes between 3.6 and 4gb. I turn off most of the things I can before playing to release the most memory.Thank you.
  8. I use sepatrons to help detach big fuel tanks, in particular when using asparagus builds. In terms of recover I use a mod called Stage Recover due to the nature of the game. I only play career mode so I need to recover the most I can from my rockets. The only exception is if I need a extra boost for my lander, usually the last stage of my rockets have a medium rockomax tank and rockomax skiper engine for the initial boost (mum or mimnus) then the lander is fitted with nuclear engines for the rest of the trip.
  9. So, it seams that my previous posts were not exaggerated when I said something about Squad "copy" mods to implement on the game or in future releases. Guess I'm not the only one thinking like that....
  10. I didn't say everyone should play the game like I say. The point is, that, KSP is a game where you run your space program. Until now, if you play stock, (and stock is good, already saw many people doing amazing things with stock parts) there aren't many options for a strategy game in terms of running a space program. So, by this logic, the game should be accurate in Newton laws and the same time it shouldn't ? I know Squad have a plan laid out for the development of the game, they must follow it, or at least, follow it 80% of time. The interesting thing is the imagination of what people consider to be realism or not. I bought the game because I want realism, stock KSP do not provide me that. Besides the so called "physics" that we already know they are working of that part, there are more things I consider realism. Life support exist in any space mission. People have breath, eat, and do other things that probably get censured here , thats why I use mods. I'm not saying I do not like the stock game, or that is not good, but for me it lacks content and many other things. I know it's a game in development so I'm sure, Squad will improve the game, probably next year by this time we are all having a blast playing KSP. Mods, for me, are to be used to give me a sense of realism in space exploration, I do not use mods to get the Enterprise on space for example (even if it is a cool mod), or any other mods that defeats the purpose of realism the game offers and the realism that I'm after. If people want to play the game with no money, just science or in sandbox with no mods, that's fine by me. Everyone should play the game the way they like more. I'm just saying the game should provide more options for the ones that want more realism and a harder game. The 0.25 was a big thing for me, it added something already missing, difficulty levels and customization. The Administration building also was a great implementation for the ones (like me) that like to play career mode. I understand the game needs to have a balance for hardcore players, casual players and, lol, crazy players that wants to blow up stuff and trow Kerbals in the air!.
  11. They have a point. Not wanted to be too much of a ....... lol, and consider the Squad is making a great game, but when they add stuff to the game that the modding community already invented, they are not developing anything new, they are copy the mods, make some tweaks and voila, you got new stuff into the game that is around for along time already. Look at the resource system the community created? It's a great thing, mods like life support for example, something that should be in the game from the start, people made a mod to make it more realistic. Mods, like MKS, KAS, hell even Mechjeb in some fashion should be in the game. What I really want, is better graphics, more cool textures for the stock parts, a sense of progression in career mode, etc. I like what they said about Kerbals, adding experience and so on that will affect ship performance. Getting Kerbals more serious instead of treating them like clowns is a good thing, giving them abilities in a "level up mode due to xp" would be great. And of course, fix all the bugs and redesign the awful instrumentation to fly in space. A nav ball just do not cut it.
  12. The reason I do not deploy the gear in VAB is well, let's just say I do not use 4! Since my landers usually are a bit higher and then they become even more higher and larger, I need to increase the base of the landing modules to compensate for irregularities in the terrain, in particular the mun since sometimes is hard to get a sense if the ground below you is inclined or not. So I enlarge by using the Modular Girder Segment to increase the base. I put 4 of them and attach at least 3 landing gears. This gives a much more stable landing. When the necessity arises I change then to XL version if I carry stuff to build bases and more heavier or a bit unbalanced. I'm lazy I know lol, but i just found it funny a very little small jump and the thing explodes. I wonder if Jeb drops high enough he can break it?
  13. I bet that are not going to be much more content. After the bugs are cleaned and everything working well, expect to start spending money on DLC's to add more stuff and content to the game. I hate DLC's. Everyone in the gaming industry are starting to annoy me, they release "finished" games, then after 1 month you get a a lot of DLC's. If this will be the case, then I hope Squad, instead of getting the Steam DLC system, open a online shop at their site. I prefer to buy from them, then from steam.
  14. Hi all, I already saw many threads and post about people complaining about how fragile the buildings are in KSC. While I really do not care about it, for more hardcore players that want everything to be hard, I think the buildings really need to have a better structural integrity. This happen to me and I was just ! So, I was making my landing module, nothing too fancy, and one of the things I like to do, is to test the ladders to see if they extent to ground into a kerbal height. So, I put my landing module on the launchpad and deploy my landing gears, as you all know, if you do that, the ship or module jumps a bit because of the strength of the landing gear. This was what happened: I already launch heavier rockets and never had this problem, I know a fix is to use stabilizers, but, come on lol, this is a small module deploying the landing gear. I just turn off the destroyable buildings options, because I need sometimes to test stuff on the launchpad to see if everything works like I want. Squad really need to increase the strength of the buildings, more importantly the launchpad, the dam thing is made in solid concrete and iron! Cheers,
  15. Besides all the good answers here and the excellent tutorial capi3101 point out, when you feel confortable with the current rocket technology you unlocked start go for the science unlocks, that way, when you start to go to the mun or Minmus the extra science parts will increase your gain a lot.
  16. Personal achievement by playing something that is hard at the start and "fighting" to be more efficient in everything you do. At least for me. That reminds me of something, when in career the science ends, the recent new contract system and now with 0.25 administration, things got more interesting. I believe that besides the main goal of the game, building rockets, planes, go to other planets, this is a "Space Program" simulator, it just has Kerbals, but it could have Klingons, Andorians, or green men from Mars. The strategic (or lack of it for now) way of running a "real" space program is in my opinion a big part of the game that we lose if we do not play career. Sure, sandbox with all parts unlock to try crazy stuff and test stuff is great, but when you complete all the science in career (im talking about career with money and rep, not the "old career science") there's where amazing mods get into play. Building colonies in other planets, orbital stations, mining, using a network of satellites to have constant communication with your ships and probes, all of this and more can add even more challenges to the career mode. I give great value to the modders that provide this sort of thigs. For example playing a full career mode game from the start with TAC life support, is way cool, more realistic, we have about 90% of true physics in the game (not counting bugs or weird stuff) for me, the more realistic the game gets the better it gets near of is intended game play. Many modders understand this, providing us more stuff to do and making the game a bit more harder. Talking about the game be more harder, now imagining running realistic mods like life support and so on, with the new options in the difficulty level in 0.25. I'm going to start a new career soon, I am still playing 0.24.2 because it's already advanced, just waiting for all the mods i use to be updated to .25. Fly safe.
  17. Dam! Those dam words. I DO NOT PLAY WITH KOS lol. My mistake. I meant, I play with KAS and MKS among others that add more things to do in the game. Like Science mods (station science), magic smoke industries (love this one) and the amazing KAS. I tried using KOS cause I did not know how to hack mechjeb, but i cannot understand it, maybe it is more easier then im aware, but cannot see it! Sorry to disappoint you Sky_walker I found out that comment of you funny lol. I do not need the feel to apologize by using it, and to be honest I do not give a F**** what people think about using it. I use it because i got tired of turning my ship to the AP, wait for the countdown, warping and screw it because i passed the countdown time for the burn, crashing on the mun (sometimes i do manually but it's a heck of work with so low information using the game hud.Im flying a space ship ffs! Even my car has GPS!
  18. Thank you all for the warm welcome.
  19. I love career mode! Anyone can cheat, well, I guess... since this is a solo game, a sandbox, so the word "cheating" might not be exactly true. Anyone can play the game as he/she thinks it is the most rewarding way of playing. I do not condemn anyone for hacking the gravity on Kerbin, or whatever. Everyone can do whatever he wants. I can see why career mode can turn off some people, starting a new career mode is hard work, do, all the science and keep up with the spending. I always play career and use mods also, one of them is the stage recover, because it makes sense to try to recover most of the parts in my stage. For example my lunar module, for landing on the mun or whatever, always return intact to Kerbin. The planning, the missions (i use a mod that add more missions also) is all part of the game, the science can be hard if you want to unlock a certain part. I admit, I cheat a bit, but in terms of mechjeb, no, not by using it, because I know most people think mechjeb is for noobs, I disagree, since every thing that fly needs a very special computer programs and instruments to fly. Even old planes had them, and rockets that go to other planets don't? No, my cheating is not using mechjeb, but hack mechjeb to unlock all it's functions on the start. When you play for so long, it gets a bit boring to fly, increase AP or PE, an so on, also, i like the extra info it gives. There are thing i still like to do manually like docking, for incredible that might sounds since it seams that docking is what most people have difficulties, i love it. I tried playing sandbox with everything open, I quickly realize that i hate it, because there are no challenges, sure you can create your owns, but i do like the game progression in career mode. Also, about contracts, for example, I play with KOS, kethane, and Fineprint (that adds more contracts depending the mods you have) among other mods, one of the contracts is to put a satellite in a certain orbit around Kerbin or the mun, i do that and then use the same satellite to scan for kethane, or kerbonite or whatever i need. So it serves for 2 purposes. Anyway, this is getting to long now, this is a forum not a book writing lol. Tastes are not to be discussed, someone like sandbox and blow up stuff and do their thing, others go just for the science, i personally, what all the stuff, in fact, the more stuff Squad adds to the career mode, the more happy they make me!! Fly safe.
  20. Thank you! I got my fill of rocket fuel last night.... I think i saw something on the mun....i think.....
  21. Hi there! This is not my first post on the forums, yea, I know, it should...... When I found out about KSP was late in 0.23, and oh my..... I would never imagined a game like this....it's....it's just perfect! I love many kinds of games, but space sims are my favorite, I have been a long player of EVE Online and Star Trek Online. But this time, KSP is the number 1...and then I found out what this amazing community do with mods! OH MY GOD!!!! You guys are great, not just modders who make excellent work (yea i use mechjeb lol so shut up) but also the rest of the community. I have learn a lot of things just by reading the forums. When I started to play KSP, a friend of mine got me a copy, (dont ask), I decided to buy the game because it is just wrong not to support indie companies, in particular, some like Squad who have made an amazing game. Look forward to be here and get involved, I would love to mod, since i did it on other games, but here it sounds more complex. Oh, in case you notice my strange English, is because I'm not English. I live in Portugal in place called Sintra. Google it and you love it. Happy landings, cough, cough, crashes. Fly safe.
  22. I'm not a fan or a player of Minecraft, but I know the game from watching my nephew playing it. Just one word: Amazing!!!! Ok, 2 words: Well done! p.s. Why not building a rocket and smash it?
  23. Thank you for the replies. That looks interesting but it seams the guy never made it better or is just hard to mod. Also I do not want unfinished mods on my ksp (is any mod finished? ). Im running several mods already and its getting almost at the maximum of my ram. Thank you all. Fly safe.
