Say Hello to The Rep Grand Group! [07/19/16 UPDATE!]
Dman979 replied to Endersmens's topic in Kerbal Network
Well, I've cooled to a point. I'm also on a different forum that still uses VB. I've noticed that there seems to be less repping going on there, and more comments in the thread. I'm wondering if we might be getting nostalgic for something that only existed in our collective memory.- 929 replies

Zip it, you. Also, thread re-un-unlocked.

SHHHHHHH! Don't tell them about it!
-
Ok, guys, let's tone it down again here. Like Deddly said, there's no need or reason for this to become a witch hunt. Discussion of a YouTuber's content is fine, calls for a boycott- or similar statements- are not.

Banned for public discussion of moderator action (3.3). Also, thread locked.

I'm sure there's a mod like this. I've moved this to Add-on Discussions, so you can find help there.

Since you clearly can't keep this thread on topic, it has been locked.

Multiple engine specific impulse math
Dman979 replied to Esoteric106's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Ah, you're welcome! Happy to help. That's a little more complicated, and there's probably many ways to solve that. Here's mine. I treat the SRB's in one stage, so I'd run the numbers twice. Step 1: time how long the SRB's burn. Step 2: calculate how much mass your other engines use in that time, and add that to the empty weight of the SRBs. Step 3: subtract the total in step 2 from the mass of the rocket with the SRBs at the beginning of the burn. We'll refer to this as Massmiddle. Step 4: count the SRB's Isp's in the average you did above, and use Massfull/Massmiddle. Step 5: calculate the Isp without the SRBs, and run that with Massmiddle/Massempty. Step 6: Add the results of Steps 4 and 5 to find the Delta-V. -
Multiple engine specific impulse math
Dman979 replied to Esoteric106's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Yes, you'd get ~2804.7 m/s of Delta-V. As for units, g is in m/s2, Isp is in seconds, and M ends up canceling itself out, so it could be any applicable unit of mass. Also, welcome aboard! -
Multiple engine specific impulse math
Dman979 replied to Esoteric106's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
The standard dV formula is 9.8 * Isp * Ln(Massfull/Massempty). For a single engine, that's simple- just plug in the Isp of the engine for the formula. For multiple engines, it's not quite as complicated as you think. You need to take the average of all the different engine Isp's you'll be using in a given stage, and plug that in for the standard Isp. In math form: 9.8 * ((Isp1+Isp2+Isp3+Isp4...IspN)/N) * Ln(Massfull/Massempty), where N is the total number of engines being used at one time. Repeat that step once for each stage, then add the totals together to get the overall dV of your ship. Be sure to include all the mass above the stage in the calculations! Hope that helps! -
Debug Toolbar won't open.

While it's nice of people to help, this thread is over 2 years old now, and the OP has surely found a solution. Thread locked. -
Thread locked.

This thread is quite old, and some mechanics might have changed since the OP. If you'd like to talk more about it, please feel free to start a new thread.

Welcome aboard! I've moved your post to Mission Reports. Good luck with your channel!

Hi, @bluerules4, and welcome aboard! I'm not that tech-savvy, so I can't help you with your problem. I can tell you, though, that people will find it helpful to know what mods you're running with. As for adding the crash report, normally people upload to a third-party site, such as Dropbox, and then link the download here.

Moved to Gameplay Questions and Tutorials. IIRC, you should be able to use the "[" and "]" keys to do it.

Hello, @El Mongo, and welcome aboard! I'd recommend CKAN, it makes things so much easier. I used to manually install my mods, but CKAN was (and is) much quicker.

Problem with Struct Connectors
Dman979 replied to VirtualBrain's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
@VirtualBrain We can't see the pictures. In order to have them appear, upload them to a third-party hosting site, such as Imgur, and copy the direct link to the photo. It should end in .png, .jpg, or something similar.
