  1. Thanks for putting me up on the leaderboard I just wanted to correct one thing, I shouldn't have the Environmentalist badge (and the accompanying points) - my design could concievably be reloadable, but it's not yet implemented.
  2. Calling me that will definitely not increase my niceness -2
  3. Regarding the underbelly RCS thrusters, not even the real Space Shuttle had them - they would be too much of an integrity weakness. Instead the downward pointing RCS nozzles were on the nose and on the protrusions from the OMS pods Perhaps that might work for you as well. For the landing gear, have you tried clipping it inside the wings? No idea about the cargo bay though. You are playing with FAR/NEAR, right?
  4. So, this thread obviously made me go for a run... And then this happened. Hard difficulty, last beacon on sector 7: Protip #1: It's k to turn off O2 if you need the power elsewhere. Just be sure to turn it back on again before everyone dies from asphyxiation. (Or recruit full Lanius crew and laugh at the petty O2 breathing species)
  5. Amazing knowledge, dear friend! Heavenly accurate. dlvbfse
  6. I'm gonna take that as an addition of said number, even without stating the current status, because I'm nice I'm even going to add 1 myself, so we should be at -1
  7. Choo choo! I mean, sorry, no. Starwhip?
  8. There is this old mod that automatically made backups of the persistent file whenever the game tried to autosave. Not exactly what you wanted, but would probably prevent some unpleasant "I just crashed and the game autosaved" moments. No clue if it's still working or not, though. I would advise you to make a habit of quicksaving before important moments like landing and doing manuevers. But if you really want a mod to autosave for you, you can probably request one here.

  10. I believe it does. I think the wings produce different amount of lift under different angles. Increasing the angle on a wing (say, dihedral design, port side wing, aircraft rolling to starboard) will decrease its lift generated. The other wing (now more parallel to the ground) will produce greater lift, and this differential naturally corrects the roll of the aircraft (up to a point). I could be wrong though.
  11. Ya got me. Is General Rarity going to return?
  12. <opinion> What? I respectfuly disagree. It's a roguelike. It's about doing with what little you have against bad odds. It's about learning the game through dying. It's about the feeling you get when you beat the game, even when the game is trying hard to beat you. And beating the game through strategy alone is very much possible, even consistently. Spamming restarts until you get a carry run is not satisfying. It's also not how the game is meant to be played. </opinion>
  13. Actually you should go for as long route as possible through ALL the sectors (just mind the fuel). More beacons = more encounters = more stuff = better chances. And you will need those.
  14. Quaint weasel eating asparagus. Such detrimental apathy. bdvvkhrj
  15. I chose night because I'm too lazy to timewarp because I forgot it's gonna look worse for better visibility of the vessel marker. Yeah, that's it. I can take some pictures during daytime and/or provide .craft file, if it's necessary.
  16. Same here It's all about knowing what is a trap and when you can risk it And while the game's RNG can mess you up bad, there's always something you can do to win not die as quickly. EDIT: Alright, I just checked my stats in FTL... 189 runs, 40 victories. Not all that impressive (But I think at least 60 of those were Rock B runs to unlock Crystal A, most of them just manually restarted) Good luck Starwhip and anyone struggling, that first victory will feel so good
  17. I believe my first two submissions should still be valid, because both the highest altitude and payload travel distance was shown clearly. But if the proving ground is leveled, then lets start anew. I liked my first design. But it felt a little... Meh. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the Gauss Driver XXL: 89* of the biggest engines our engineers could get their hands on. 4** arms full of power to propel your bombs cargo nearly anywhere***. Landing assistance sold separately. Warranty void if fired. * only 45 engines pointed forward - the rest is used for counter-thrust so that the launcher doesn't destroy itself ** current version. I believe 8 arms would be possible, albeit a little insane *** If your PC is good enough to handle 2.8 km long barrel
  18. Could it be that way to counter asymmetrical payloads? Quick googling brought up this.
