  1. Personally, I have never had a save file corrupt itself, most gamebreaking bugs (stuck in LANDED state, exploding wings, UI not responding...) were easily resolved by restarting the game and frequent quicksaving so I have a savepoint to go back to. I don't use any seriously game altering or part adding mods, though. I very much doubt it's all stock game problems (especially the "Unknown Mystery components"). A quick search shows you use a lot of mods... At that point it might be like mixing many different medications, not even the doctors are completely sure what happens. Your best bet is assembling a thorough investigation of the problem/s at support forums. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but I don't think you're gonna get any/all of your problems solved here.
  2. Wouldn't do much, but it would probably be hilarious.
  3. That "no reason at all" is orbital mechanics. The other craft is simply on a slightly different orbit, therefore going to end up somewhere else than you are. The only place where you can be so that your relative velocity will stay 0 is directly ahead/behind a craft, on the same orbit.
  4. I was referring to an ion+rocket combo for eve, not just pure ion. It's probably still impossible, but (at least in my head) it sounds less impossible than the electric heli+rocket idea. As for ion Kerbin SSTO, I've already tried something like that! It wouldn't fit the rules of your challenge, though, had some controllable winglets for wings. I also failed to get it into orbit (ran out of sunlight and I didn't feel like reverting and wasting another hour), but maybe I'll consider giving it another go.
  5. I don't think so. The problem with that concept is that your heli "stage" must be able to lift itself and the rocket stage into high enough atmo, and at the same time your rocket stage needs to be able to lift itself and the heli "stage" from high atmo into orbit. Electric helicopters barely have enough power to lift themselves in 1 atm, much less a rocket stage big enough to achieve orbit around Eve from that altitude. Ion planes are probably a better choice, though they do face the same problem. I'm certainly interested to see people try whatever is on their mind. And remember, gentlemen, that dropping any parts disqualifies the vessel as an SSTO. Reaching orbit with a kerbal EVA makes the craft Single Stage to Suborbital at best (impressive as well, but not as prestigious). And using FAR certainly doesn't count as stock (at least until KSP 1.0). The first person to achieve a truly stock and exploitless Eve SSTO (if anyone ever makes it) is bound to become a KSP legend.
  6. It's more of a respect than fear. Anyway, I haven't had the opportunity to test that thoroughly, so I'm gonna go with "insufficient data, needs more research". The person below me doesn't quite understand, but likes quantum physics.
  7. Is it? I thought we cancelled that 4 years ago. Waiter, there's a small tree in my soup!
  8. Argh! That one time aurora can be seen all the way from the middle of Europe and of course I sleep through it.
  9. What Slam_jones said. Also, even though you would push the moon dust around with your downward thrust, with conventional nozzle placement most of that dust would get pushed sideways, not up (think about blowing hard on fine sand). I don't see a way that could be useful to the landing craft itself. Anyway, the parachutes would be extra mass, which is not desirable (especially when it's useless mass).
  10. Nope. I use metric, but so does the whole country. The person below me has claustrophobia.
  11. If the mission had some serious planning and testing simulations done, sure, why not? The only time I managed to kill someone (in a non-revert non-quicksave career) was on the Mun, because "lol it's just the Mun, who needs math and planning" and "well... If I suicide burn right now, the rescue vessel should land right next to the stranded capsu... *BOOM*" ...It wasn't a rescue vessel, it was a manned missile. Both kerbals have an in memoriam flag planted on the Mun. But lets be real here, if I was a kerbal, would I actually have a choice? The hired crew (pilots, engineers, scientists) are probably not designing anything, that's Wernher von Kerman and his team's job. Likewise, the designers are probably not flying their horrible contraptions of death crafts, but rather get the expendable crew to fly it for them. ...Why do you think most of them are so terrified all the time? (the ones that laugh are just insane)
  12. How did you know? Sampa could be around.
  13. Il let you have this moment one last time 68
  14. Given that the only mods I needed to improve my gaming experience are DDSLoader, KER, KAC and NavballDockingAlignment (EDIT: plus the occasional KVV and Hyperedit for testing), no, I don't see the need to have a 64-bit version of the game. That's just me though, I can see how mod-happy users would want to have a stable 64-bit release. Having both of them available is, of course, the best solution.
  15. I like how the game is now. (Selective) bugfixing would be my only wish. For everything else there's mods.
  16. I have the OS keys from the DreamSpark Premium university contract, and AFAIK they are product specific. Anyway, the point is that 64-bit OS would not add anything meaningful over 32-bit version for me.
  17. Usually either frustrated that the new design idea didn't work, happy that it did or hyped about the newer design idea I had while making the older one.

    Riddles

Could it be... The riddle itself?! (probably not, but it would definitely fit the "year or more to maybe stay" part) Another guess would be KSP, or more specifically KSP 1.0
  19. Longer flights would be very tiring... I'll take the hilarious floppy arms while breaking some world records in sprint Would you rather: - Make one of your dreams come true (unless your dream is to be stupidly rich, or would lead to being stupidly rich) - Have enough money to live comfortably for the rest of your life (but not as much as to allow you to accomplish any dreams - unless your dream is to live comfortably for the rest of your life, of course)
