  1. After making an SSTO that can teach orbit in 5 minutes (it is obviously a waste of Delta -V, but DAMN is it easy to fly), and failing spectacularily to change it into a Nerv SSTO, I'm currently circumnavigating Kerbin to test my MK.3 jet.Good lord, it is boring as all hell. And I have no idea what is causing it to slip on it's yaw as time passes, but since the KCS is at the equator, it worries me a bit.
  2. I only have read the e-book demo thus far, but I love it. In fact, I lunged into it from page 1. Simply brilliant.
  3. Yep, I did. Nothing at All, Active, Completed, or Rejected. Nothing.
  4. Entropy is basically an add-on for Dang It. And when I say no contracts, I mean no contracts. I am supposed to begin with "launch a vessel", "reach an altitude of 5000 meters", "leave the atmosphere", and "reach orbit". I get literally nothing, even after launching an actual vessel.
  5. I just finished the game. I am not a fan of Ubisoft, but truly, tis a beautiful and sad game. Holding in the tears is almost impossible. I'm sure I'm not the only one who fels this way. So, I decided, why not create a thread for people to discuss about it -and for those who don't know it to check it out? I know it depends on the person, but generally speaking, don't be too afraid to use spoilers if need be. In my humble opinion, this game is even more painful after the first time anyways.
  6. I recently downloaded some new nods for my KSP. They seem to work fine (except for a texture problem I have wth some), but since I did, all my Career saves start with no contract! Wy is this happening? My mods are: TAC Life Support USI Sounding Rockets USI Survivability Pack KAS KIS Dang It! Entropy Mech Jeb Active Texture Management (Aggressive) Texture Replacer
  7. Are you flying in retrograde to Jool? Because of you are, in addition to the densest atmoshpere in the game, you also have to contend with the opposite rotation of the largest planet in Stock -which will hit you twice its value, in fact, because you are also moving at high speeds, raising the relative Velocity.
  8. Just an idea for the challenge: how about you give extra points for using Dang It?
  9. As people already said, this is the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft, and it was never used for orbital launches. However, the concept has been explored over time - the X-15 was launched from the wing of a B-52, and there is a rocket called Pegasus- basically a giant three stage cruise missile with wings that launches to orbit from the cargo bay of a jet plane. Neither of those are exactly this concept, but Meh, close enough
  10. Well obviously, but the 3x2 had a shape that just makes it that much easier. Oh, and another solution to the OP: you can always try retracting the Panels while doing critical maneuvers.
  11. I love it, but... isn't the DERP just a tad oerpowered? Otherwise, nice job as always. Oh, and how can we change the configurations for TAC Life Support?
  12. Got my first failure yesterday, yay! Well, it was not much. It was a motor failure on an... already open antenna... in a comms module with four more antennas... launched in Creative... just to check the launch vehicle. I DON'T CARE, IT WAS STILL A FAILURE OKAY Anyways, thank you for your mod. It's awesome
  13. In addition to the aforementioned clipping, the OX 3-2 has a much wider profile than the 1-6. Therefor, even though it doesn't clip during deployment, it may clip while tracking the sunlight.
  14. The stowed thing is ridiculous. You detach a stage from a fairing Base without popping the fairing, and you get like a kilometer away, and your engine says "can't deploy while stowed" because technically the fairing is intact. And don't get me started on plane. I had a pair of Intakes well clear of the cargo bay. After opening it once and closing it again, all my engines failed. Had to land the bloody thing with the bay open. And when I had the bright idea to get a missile in a bay, I would launch it, and the rocket would turn off when I assumed control of the plane and closed the bays. Truly, someone has to patch this. It causes much more problems than it provides realism.
  15. Hmmmm, interesting. I'll try it tomorrow. For now, though, I can tell you this ; if you have to balance booster cores without struts, find the CoM of the booster and attach it to the Decoupler.
  16. Alas, we wish it worked like this. In the same way massless parts add their mass to the parent object now, Fairings also add their mass to the fairing Base. Unless you stage the base away, it's going to be the same.
  17. A good way to profit is to make it reusable. Use a nice cheap SRB with fins, then use a small liquid stage to get suborbital, and rumble down without decoupling it ; you should be able to recover the whole thing with chutes. For orbital missions, also try to save the last stage ;the engine should withstand the heat. For maximum reusability, make your ferry two-staged, and make the first stage go suborbital ;you should be able to follow the first stage down with chutes while the orbiter is, well, orbiting.
  18. You know very well that, for distances as small as Kerbin orbit, Quicksave is almost as much a cheat as Hyper Edit. Which for training purposes doesnt matter anyways.
  19. Or alternately, you can launch a ship once, then quicksave in orbit and quickload back to orbit each time you screw up.
  20. You do realize your sat had a Delta v equal to two times your orbital Velocity that would get wasted otherwise, right? That's some major class overbuilding here.
  21. I know I'm either too overly ambitious or downright insane to judge , so tell me: can a Grand -Tour capable mothership be funded from 4 flights? >
  22. Woody makes a good point ;try getting some Intakes facing upwards. Otherwise, yes, the Jets are nerfed. Well, more balanced than nerfed, but yeah, VTOL is a bit more sensible now.
  23. Of yeah, I also have seen this one ;is hilarious. However, don't take my word for granted, I haven't tried it in 1.0. Maybe the engine nerfs do make a difference
  24. There is not really a reason to keep going. Kerbal X to the Mun was a challenge back to the old days of KSP. Many changes have gradually made it much easier by then. It was so easy by 0.90, in fact, that many showed their flying prowess by getting the bloody thing to Ike and back -and I don't it was made harder by 1.0. So yeah, if you want, go for it. It is most likely still a challenge, but don't expect it to have as much impact as it used to.
