  1. I think everyone here knows about the Skylon project and I am pretty interested in it and see a potential. But if it is such a big of breakthrough in spacetravel why isn't it here already? or is it the funding? Thanks in advance. ^^
  2. Here is my mainship i use for almost... uhh everything! I present: HCL-02 Fox! She's capable of flying 51 tons of cargo!
  3. I knew before I used FAR that turn wouldn't work I didn't use that turn in the first place. I just would like to know a ascend path for MJ wich works with FAR and the path mentioned doesn't work btw.
  4. I started playing with FAR a while ago. Before then I used to be great at rockets, after FAR it became great at planes. Now my problem is rockets seems way harder than planes now and most of the time my rockets just fall apart because of "Aerodynamic failures" because it spins out. I also use mechjeb wich the default ascent path is for stock aero only, I know that so I fly manually. But isnt't there a ascent path for mechjeb that will just fly my rocket without FAR issues? Or perhaps some tips on flying manually wich i don't prefer. Thanks in advance!
  5. I know this isn't really a gameplay question but this was the closest. I have been able to post pictures for example from imgur to my posts. However, I saw people post whole albums. I would like to know how one does this because it seems easier than posting a load of pictures. Thanks in Advance!
  6. I think it would be a better idea to use FAR. I once was as stubborn to not wanting to use FAR. But I really prefer it over NEAR. For starters you have the flight assistance. Wich helps steady your aircraft. But also helps banking to left or right more careful. Perhaps you are yawing to hard, while at higher speeds yawing is not a great idea in general. Check if you have assigned your control surfaces by right clicking them and disable options for them they don't do, for example your elevons (those flappy things on the wings) only are for roll so disable all other options. A slightly better way to turn would be first roll with Q and E and slowly pull up, preferably with care or else you will spin out of control. Hope it helped!
  7. First off, congratulations! It took me a long time aswell to get one in space. Second I think it's very unefficient using rocket engines only next to that it's quite large guessing it's all fuel and thats why you have a one and a half stage plane. It would be way better to use as much jet fuel as you can while your still in the atmosphere. When you would have that it would be a full blown SSTO because there would be no need for dropping external tanks. I see you use B9 wich mean you have the large SABRE engines at your disposal, 2 of them usually do the the job . Just a friendly tip. ^^ Here is an example. My craft can carry 51 tons to orbit. And from a quick first look I come to believe it's smaller than yours.
  8. I saw Scott Manley in one of his videos with landing his B9 shuttle he used to in the upper atmosphere slide the shuttle to the left and right and so on to shake off some speed. Will this apply to a large craft like mine?
  9. This may be an very out-of-the-topic question.... But uhhh, what is that plane mod?
  10. I managed to land the Fox on the runway. Without DRE tho it's going great. I'm really prachtising the landing, but I know how my own plane works so it's becoming less of a problem. I set a new cargo record. 51 tons to orbit .
  11. And with Radial attachment you mean angle snap? or?
  12. Thanks for the help you guys! I dropped DRE for now and I start to enjoy flying planes with FAR a little better. But there are two pesky little things that annoy me when building cargo for my Fox ship. 1: Placing a docking port inside, the way I do it makes parts of the fuselage unavaible so my engines can't acces the oxidizer. 2: Placing the initial cargo inside. I would like to know how everyone else is doing this. Thanks in Advance.
  13. Yeah, you are right sometimes I ask too much off everything and I demand it works. My apologies for this. Thanks for all the help I deleted DRE for now so let's get onto another plane I made. (I know the Fox isn't a really beginners plane but hey! I flew a jumbo tank into orbit with FAR. )
  14. One time I did survive it for the first time ever...... wings broke off...
  15. I tried again with FAR this time. Good news is I didn't go infinite aerobraking. But half my ship disintegrated only the small things outside the ship like RCS thrusters and airbrakes all burned up. And sometimes the cockpit detaches. I see no legit way to do this without dying, burning up or killed by G-forces. Also FAR sucks. Tried getting the jumbo-64 tank in orbit again after adjustments and I hit the end of the runway, lift off a bit and crash down. I liked NEAR better but those fools made it too hard to re-enter. (scratch that, I found did bring said tank into orbit. Just took some adapting) Next, I did some adjusting to my design to make even lift said fuel tank. And suddenly I doesn't drain oxidizer from the fuselage and doesn't even feed it to the engine anymore. I even tried fuel ducts but it doesn't use it. Another little tiny issue is with the action groups each time I assign some sometimes they only deploy "only the left side" like with airbrakes.
  16. HCL-02 Fox: Download: http://www.speedyshare.com/nKX6y/HCL-02-fox.craft All mods I use: Blizzy's toolbar B9 DRE Deepfreeze KAS KerbalJointReinforcement Kethane Kommit nucleonics KSP-AVC KSPlua (not really a mod i think) KWrocketry MJ2 Mechjeb embedded MP_Nazari (for b9 effects) NASAmission (stock ksp) NEAR Nearfuturesolar Pilot Assistance ProcFairings Realchute Planet Shine Smokescreen (b9 effects) Squad (stock KSP) TAC life support Mods used in Fox: B9 Aerospace I believe the Fox is B9 only.
  17. I tried the suggestion... It just aerobrakes and orbits again. Over and over again and again. <insert refrence here> Secondly as FAR is concerned, I tried the flight assitance it doesn't work and floops up my what Voculus called "Rocket Mojo" XD. With NEAR it's less. And with FAR I feel the only way I can safely go is forward up and down.
  18. The same thing happens when I mash 'S'. It levels out at about 5 degrees pitch and burns up. Maybe I should also mention I de-orbit from a 200x200 orbit. 200x200 is my "default altitude". Can this be a factor since it may have greater speed in the first place? I don't feel like burning up and dying in the atmosphere again.
  19. Nothing seems to help anymore the atmosphere really forces it downwards I can do nothing to fight that. Brakes dont seem to help either. It just points down too much and everything burns up.
  20. Thanks again for all the support I'm getting I am testing a lot to learn how this works... I have to land this thing safely this week... Btw plowing right in won't help... I disintegrated... I use DRE aswell... (r.i.p. kerbals again.)
  21. Hey Wanderfound, I just finished getting all these screenshots for you. I call it: Landing, an aerobraking story. http://imgur.com/a/L9aWu#15 My apologies they are not in the right order. It starts off good keeping a 45 degree pitch then as I get deeper in the upper atmosphere, RCS helps fighting the drag and with the second RCS can't hold it anymore. It spins out of controll and aerobrakes over and over and over again. I really hope we can figure out what is causing this. (Also I tried pumping all the fuel into the back of the plane.) Am I that bad of a pilot or a puny design flaw? Thanks in Advance.
  22. Yes, when it hits the the atmosphere it picthes down again and burns up (r.i.p. kerbals) Help is being apriciated because all my kerbals are dying.
