  1. Me, addicted to gaming? Not possible... and I have a full time job and two kids too... ------------------------- SteamGauge: Over the last 2 years, you've spent 1941.8 hours playing this selection, which includes 60 items, is valued at $843.52, and requires 179.8 GB
  2. Thanks for the tip. Better to start trying again...
  3. Tried to teach it to my kids, they didn't like it. Might be because they are too young (7 and 9 years) Maybe later when they learn physics in school...
  4. Both, Kerbal engineer for stats and mechjeb for autopilot...
  5. Talking of data collection, I have heard a rumour that each and every one of Intel's processors that has been manufactured in the nearest ten years has a built-in 3G-chip and antenna in it, and it sends a copy of every encryption key handled by processor to NSA, and gives a backdoor access to any PC even when turned off. So it's not just Microsoft...
  6. When I started playing with version 0.22, the career mode was already there. I tried first with sandbox, but there was too many parts for me, I didn't know what to do with them. Career mode nicely introduced all the parts with small steps, so I could get to know what all was for, and I could train how to use them efficiently. Nowadays I play career mode just to see what it has to offer. Contracts suck mostly, there is not enough interesting contracts. To avoid grinding I adjust difficulty settings to get more money, science and reputation per contract, so I can do what I want most of the time. So I think this like a combination of classical career mode and sandbox mode.
  7. This is the Kerbal way to do it! No landers or any other nonsense...
  8. My first docking was in version 0.22 career mode, after I had collected enough science to unlock RCS and docking ports. I probably build some crappy space station from 1.25 meter modules, and used A LOT of monopropellant to get it done. Nowadays I don't even bother to put RCS thrusters or monopropellant to all of my space station parts, because it's getting easy to do it with only rocket engines. Experience and training has that effect...
  9. Because all kerbals have extincted all over Kerbin and the remaining ones have gathered to space center. The space program is their last and best hope of survival...
  10. My landing mission to Duna changed to a fly-by mission because I used too much delta-v on transfer. Need more fuel...
  11. Maybe a solution for joint stability could be simulating joint "welding" (or internal strutting) in game. For some price, you could make chosen joints stronger, and maybe it would add a little weight to parts also, to simulate weldings (or strutting). And you could play without using it if you like to use struts.
  12. Still in KSP that high rocket would wobble like crazy during ascent without any other support than normal joints...
  13. Made a modest orbital refueling station. First image is the fuel module on launchpad. Other images are from orbit, it has science module and some other stuff too. Might add something else later...
  14. When you watch a documetary about Saturn V and Apollo flights and think how the heck did that stay in one piece without struts!
  15. When I had played for about 600 hours of KSP and had done manually just about everything there is to do in this magnificent game, I got a little bored. Mechjeb kinda extended my interst to the game. I still enjoy playing and trying some stuff out, partly automated. I have clocked about 130 hours with mechjeb, and still going.
  16. 1. Made a contact with an asteroid 2. Managed to tow it to Low Kerbin Orbit 3. Landed it near KSC 4. Carried it to KSC with a vehicle 5. Parked it in front of VAB main entrance as a reminder that everything is possible
  17. Not that awesome pic, but a nice solar eclipse on ascent.
Onko modeja asennettuna? Itellä semmonen 600 tuntia peliä pelattuna, aloitin versiosta 0.22...
  19. I started using Mechjeb with latest version (0.90). I forgot to quicksave and crashed to Mün with Jeb last night...
  20. Thank you! These seem good tools. I have thought that I'll test MechJeb anyway. so this'll give me a good reason to do that.
  21. Does anyone know if there is a interplanetary transfer mod, which would calculate an optimal transfer path to given planet at any time, not only the most optimal time? Idea is similar to this tool: http://alexmoon.github.io/ksp/ . So if you are willing to use more delta-V than the optimal transfer, the tool would guide you to do the transfer.
  22. I tried those updates and installations, and they didn't change the behaviour of the game. Other thing I tried was to install exactly same ubuntu with exactly same installations and upgrades to another computer to see if it behaves similar. It worked perfectly, no problems whasoever. So this might be a hardware issue (or a driver that relates to different hardware). Even though the game itself worked like a charm, the log it generated looked quite similar to the one I posted earlier. So not much difference in there. I'll stick to the 64-bit version, or I might try that 14.10 at some point in the near future. Thank you all for assistance!
  23. I see Methusalem posted another suggestion, it's a nice one. Can I still use the science jr experiment with a parachute on top of the hatch? I haven't tried it before...
