  1. ok, I'm reviving an old thread, hope it's not a too serious faux pas I'm considering installing the FAR mod.. Anything I should know- how does it work with KSP 1.10/1.10.1?
  2. wow, lots of info. In stock I don't have trouble taking off at speeds of 80-120 m/s, my problem is keeping them on the runway - they always want to veer off to the left or right. It's also not difficult to fly them so fast they turn into a ball of fire. it seems FAR could teach me something about real aerodynamics

  4. interesting that the stock aerodynamic model is still behind FAR. Does the mod do anything else besides an alternate aerodynamic model?
  5. Ok, i'm not an absolute noob in KSP but I'm far from being a veteran. I'm the perpetual student, always learning (and occaisionally even succeeding). So here's my question: The FAR mod, yay or nay? I try to keep my install pure stock, but the idea of a more realistic aerodynamic model is compelling. Further, I'm running KSP 1.10.0 and will try to upgrade to 1.10.1 this wekend. Is FAR worth it, especially on these newest versions?
  6. I don't know why, there's something intriguing about an all-wing craft. So, here's the Boomerang. A (more or less, it's got a fuselage) flying wing. Easy to fly, and long ranged, it carries five kerbals- four passengers and a pilot. check it out here: https://kerbalx.com/lucho/Boomerang

  8. Most people like to think big: Go big or go home. But how about going small? I 've designed a small VTOL. Hoverbike, Skycycle, whatever you call it, it's small (barely one ton), fast (It can cruise at up to 62 m/s, although ~55 m/s is advised), and with excellent endurance. And it seats two kerbals! Running on batteries is how I got it so small. twin rotors and SAS wheels keep it stable.   9. I was actually here in the forums a looooooong time ago*. I don't even remember why I stopped coming around (other than the usual RL song and dance). But now I'm back. i've even got a couple of success stories (check the appropriate areas) It's good to be back * my last post was in 2012

  11. My fastest stock rocket? Well compared to some here, it\'s not that impressive, but my vanilla rocket reached 16.5 km/s, mostly because my piloting skills are still not up to snuff (I missed two munshots in a row :-[ ) The followup to the Aerophallus series, the Astrophallus series promises even greater penetration (ahem) in the Kerbal market. It\'s a whoile lotta power, almost too much for any mere mortal ;P
  12. Welcome aboard, and nice landing! It seems you took the wise approach- I\'m still honing my munlanding skills. I\'ve designed rockets that will get me there, but my piloting skills are still a bit rough :-\

  14. So I tried KSP back when it was at 0.8.4. Now I\'m on 0.13 and loving it. The best part is that I\'m running it in linux- 64-bit Debian Sid 8) - through WINE, and it runs well, even though my comp doesn\'t meet the minimum requirements ( 22-28FPS in a 1024x768 window). Here\'s my first contribution to the Kerbal Space Program: the Aerophallus series rocket. Large, powerful, and always pointing straight up no matter the conditions, it\'s the largest example of overcompensation anywhere The mark I and II differ only in the number of fins on the upper stage- the mark II uses only half as many wings as the mark I\'s eight wings in order to save weight. Pilots with a lead foot are contraindicated (looking at you Jeb!), as the sheer power at the pilot\'s fingertips makes it trivially easy to overshoot the moon, and possibly beyond.
