  1. It does and it work. Size is fairly small and for part that have +20 crew its a mess. It might not work for deployable part like the inflatable ring trough.
  2. @vossiewulf Is that a ST-HUB-DOS or a mount with individual docking port around it? I had a bug like that long long time ago, before I started to play with SSTU. Just like your current station, mine had allot of part. Long story short, I decoupled a ship and from a Mun ground station and took off, as I went up my ship started to slow down, like if something was pulling it back. I looked behind my ship and few km away there were a big chunk of my ground station flying toward me! Lost the ship and the base. More part you have, more chance Cthulhu Kraken will notice you. Which is why I fell in love with SSTU: it provide a Low Part Count Solutions that reduce the lag and the risk of bug like this.
  3. Shadowmage Is very supportive. There is also Electrocutor that is starting to know Textures Unlimited very well. I would like to also point out that SSTU would allow you to reduce the amount of part if you ever wished to. Maybe even a single one, that would make it extremely easy to control when flying in atmo. If you are interested by that, I would gladly offer you my help.
  4. @vossiewulf Trust me, you do not want to update everything at once, its the best way to go insane. Start with the essential, then pick up mods as you need them, you will soon realise that you didn't need them all because your FPS will go up by 300%.
  5. Thank you very much! I might have suggested that at some point. So we could have our cake and eat it too.
  6. Shush, you should know by now that he is only happy when working to death. And I want my Christmas gift!
  7. @silentvelcro Ever heard of Textures Unlimited mod? With it, player could recolor and make it shiny, it also come with a texture switch. Just something to consider.
  8. Yeah, when people were talking about modular SM, what I had in mind was a glorified MUS. Then Shadowmage came with this!
  9. I see, thanks for the clarification. I could stick to SSTUModularStationCore if I want to redo my lander exactly the same way. But I feel I will not, there is many very nice feature in there.
  10. @Shadowmage Damn, that's sound a awesome. I didn't trough you would add that much feature to it. If I understand correctly this is much, much more than a modular service module core. When you say no integrated engine, do you mean that engine can't be added trough config or that there will be no engine number/kind editing? Edit: I volunteer to test it if you want. Just Keep in mind that I tend to use stuff in un-intended ways. I will break it, for sure.
  11. If I recall correctly I also used ModularStationCore to do this: Excluding legs, it was a single part (note the Raptor engine behind the legs). I do not recall if I could still change its size when I went with ModularStationCore, I think not. But I could change top/bottom adapter, docking port and solar panel. I had to hide a hatch inside the main section to make the one on ALCOR work because as a adapter (or port?) it was not detected. The texture switching broke it. Made me sad because it was the funniest thing to fly. It was perfectly balanced, I removed drags form legs so I could flip it as I wish under almost all circumstance. One day I will have to fix it. I wonder how the ALCOR will look like with PBR if I manage to convert it's texture.
  12. Blasphemy! 1 and 2 were great. 3 was bad, until 4 disaster came out, wish make the 3 look great.
  13. Indeed, I was not skeptical of the dead weight, but how do you move all that weight on top. Bulldozer seem excessive and dangerous. Shoveling it from the ground to the top would be ridiculous. Machine that fill sandbags already exist. The only thing left would be to place them. But I guess that a kind of "snow blower" but for dust could be a option. After the Canadian arms, we will give you the Canadian dust blower!
  14. Thinking about it. How would you bury a relatively fragile structure that need to be airtight. Even if we would carry a bulldozer I do not think we would risk using it for that. Old sandbags might be a better option, easy to fill, carry and remove if needed.
  15. @tater Yeah, bags make sense. There is no wind on the moon, but there is on Mars. The model I am working on have a metallic textile covering the top, I used that to hide the junction with the real ground surface on one side. The other side have its ground junction hided by a large deck, that also make sense as dust is bad for airlocks. I suspect that any medium to large scale installation will not come in "IKEA" kit but will be made using generic material. So I tried to give hab entrance a little makeshift taste. I think I went to far in that direction.
  16. @Shadowmage Personally, I do not mind much if can't be used as a airbrake or if does not have effect once deployed. Sure, it would be fun, but as long as it's not too unstable when closed its fine. Another option, if you have a taste for deceptive humor, would be to write "warranty void if deployed while moving" and make the panel jettison when under too much pressure. No one read the small character...
  17. @Shadowmage Oh... That's fantastic! Thank you so much! I might have a idea to make it behave with stock aero, I imagine the drag cube is calculated around part colider? If yes, it probably only see the base, so increasing the angularDrag and maximum_drag might do it. If not, I will try make a part with the heat shield included, that or a base plate. Since I now I feel guilty of wasting your time, let me do these test myself to redeem myself!
  18. @tater Since Iva is mostly useless. The IVA view could actually show just the structure of the buried crew habitat. Just to give a feeling of the size of it.
  19. Indeed. That and not all mesh have to be covered by colider. So you can have a intersection that blend the ground quite well if its relatively flat. Edit: I feel inspired. I will post a mockup after work. What I have in mind is quite a massive amount of work... So @Shadowmage don't take it as a request. I know for sure that what I will post is beyond the scope of what you have planed. If it inspire you then that's great. If not that's fine, I will enjoy doing it, didn't do serious modeling in years...
  20. Yes, basically a second KSC. Past initial base construction, I would like to fly rocket between colony without having to worry too much about how base them self work. Then contract like transport 10 kerbal from KSC Kerbin to KSC Duna or transport rare material for here to there would be awesome.
  21. @tater @Shadowmage Well that could make great use of Textures Unlimited! A texture/color switch to match planets and moon color. Might even be possible to use Squad texture for that if permitted. I like the idea. Always have dreamed of a truly massive base of +200 kerbal. It might be the best way to create a massive base without a complex leg/corridor/attachment etc. One can simply assume that everything is connected trough tunnel.
  22. I would take a tank with RCS mount on both ends. In fact I did make one in the past. I would just have to update it. But I think it a modular SM would basically be that plus maybe solar panel. Looks like I found myself something to do for tonight.
  23. Copy pasting stock IVA is enough for my need. The only I have spent time in is the ASET pod, but just to turn on lights and LSS, and open windows.I have seen Hardcore gamer use mods to control everything from the IVA seat. Might be interesting but I would find it boring over time. Edit: I did a IVA docking once. That was cool... never did it again.
