  2. @Jovus: RSS simply makes the solar system real. Hence Real Solar System. What you want is RO. The main OP of RO has all the part information you want. Any further posts related to parts needs to be made there. You download the part packs (which most are geared toward stock, then RO (which is it's own download), simply modifies them to be appropriate for play in RSS.

  5. New Delta II additions are absolutely awesome and thank you so much for releasing in a 1:1 scale, makes RSS/RO type configs so easy to make. Looking forward to the Atlas V series stuff! I know no 2 engine Centaur stages have flown yet, but they are in the launch schedule, I'm assuming that will be an option. Possibly along with the RL-10A series and the now used RL-10C. I'm also hopign that 'reuse the 1st stage Delta II for Delta III' means modify the DII stage heavily to use as part of the DIII stage.
  6. There is probably a reason why any real probe past Saturn has always been a flyby rather than orbit.
  7. It's been mentioned before, but how about people keep in mind that 8.6m/s is nearly 20mph or about 31km/h and is 8+mph faster than the moon speed record. For more reference the curiosity rover top speed is 0.025m/s and average speed is 1/3 of that. So if you want to keep things realistic, maybe that 'limit' isn't so bad.

  11. @NathanKell: You are awesome. Still debating on how much I like the restrictions toggle in the VAB. On integrated parts with a lot of modules adding things the 7 additional lines added with this take up a lot of space with little info to show for it. Any way of maybe making a new window so that a single click brings up a separate window to change the restrictions? Much like ModuleEngineConfigs/ModuleFuelTanks does. Another possible idea if workable...what about a parameter even if only in the *.cfg (but VAB window, perhaps even the restriction one proposed earlier would be cool too) that disables the RCS port by default, rather than having to use an action group to turn things off initially before launch, then turn them on later as required.

I'm asking for hard quoted data of any spacecraft in which a liquid has been compressed to achieve MORE liquid volume than the tank has capacity for under 1atm. Not ever have I, OR ANYONE, ever seen a spacecraft with a liquid utilization of a tank >100% of a tanks physical capacity due to being pressurized, at any level. It is funny how in one section, which does specify the SLWT, says volume is 1497440L, then shortly later, it has an unspecified tank volume of 1514611L. (~800L from my source). Now I quoted USABLE LH2. When unusable LH2 is added raises the filled volume to 1451547L. Still an absolutely fantastic utilization, and one that Procedural Parts does allow one to modify. RealFuels CAN AND DOES accurately simulate utilization due to pressurization. OF GASSES, just like it is, and is configurable to boot. Again, like Starwaster said, since it's not going to happen because IT'S NOT REALISTIC OR ACCURATE. Feel free to modify your utilization of tanks to whatever you THINK it can be. You are talking theory. You admit that chilling is more mass effective, which face it, IS the name of the game in space travel, so why should Nathan change something that otherwise for all practical purposes IS accurate and realistic on some whim of a theory that is counter-productive to space travel in the first place. Not to mention the fact that utilization IS modeled. Starwaster already gave you the MM code needed for the change. But don't expect it to become 'standard'. You are wrong about the space program. That's what we are talking about. It hasn't been used. Period. As this is a space program, you won't see it here either. As such. RealFuels ALREADY HAS THE CAPABILITY OF CHANGING UTILIZATION.   15. @Northstar: If you are SO sure of yourself. Provide one example of documented proof that liquid compressibility has been used in any space program. FYI. The Shuttle ET (LWT) LH2 tank is 331in in diameter, 1160in long, obviously curved on both ends and has a capacity of 1515461L. Total USABLE LH2 is 1431630L (based on weight). That's over 80000L difference. Care to explain to me oh 'pressurized one' how compressibility plays a factor in INCREASING the amount of LH2 in a tank?
  16. @CodeFantastic: No. You botched the install. As simple as it is, you botched it. Read the OP carefully and fully. Follow the directions. Don't get fancy. 1. Extract the folders in the archive to KSP/GameData. 2. Extract the folder(s) in the pack to your KSP folder, this will create an RSSTextures folder in KSP/GameData/ Do you see Neptune on the list??? Then it must not be there.

I really hope you are talking about gasses only, but your mention of the Shuttle ET and Falcon, kinda points to the thought that you think the same of things like LOX/LH2/MMH/NTO. You can obviously pressurize a GAS, the latest SpaceX ISS transfer is due to move a Nitrogen/Oxygen Recharge System (NORS) which is a tank that is pressurized to 400bar, which is actually close to double normal. So 1L of tank volume yields ~395L of gas at 1atm. RealFuels can and does simulate this with the 'utilization' parameter. However, you don't, AND CANT, 'pressurize' a MMH tank and suddenly create 400% more volume. It's not happening. Physics. Want proof? Actually read documentation of Apollo, Gemini, Space Shuttle, etc. Physical tank capacity roughly equals fuel volume and weight regardless of pressurization. When it comes to mass fractions and whatever, these are all editable within RealFuels. If you aren't happy, create your own and change fuel tank types yourself. It's not hard. Formatting can be found in the RealTankTypes.cfg file within the RealFuels/Resources directory.
  18. Um, yeah, it WAS true. IF things are not in 'proper' order. Seems under Sippy's own testing. Put MFT before engine on the same part...no worky...put it after...worky.
  19. In my experience, RealFuels isn't 'self-aware' of Engines within the same part. When they are on separate parts, you can click and add fuel by engine no problem. The same part though it doesn't 'see' it. I haven't tested it...but MAYBE one just needs the ModuleFuelTanks MODULE after ModuleEngineConfigs.
  20. Yes, for a game about space, NOT having a viable shuttle is quite strange, noting however that the Space Shuttle is a wildly complex bird to perform correctly. That and this program is being developed as a game, not a simulator. As such, you get a different crowd as it's main audience, not the usual 'replica/simulator' crowd. Now, people are banned for a reason, not just willy nilly. The fact that it was a maintainer or developer should not matter. Break the rules. Good-bye. People abandoning it, well raidernick tried to help and was met with loads of grief that IMO was undeserved. I don't blame him for bowing out.

  22. Wild guess here...ModuleRCSFX uses some of the stock system if I'm not mistaken. Well when your thrusterPower is set to 12, by default the RCS system uses 'partial power' since it's so much. But when thrusterPower is at 1, it needs all of it, so it fires full power. Since the 'plume' is by percentage. 100% of 1kN gives 100% plume. While say 10% of 12kN gives 10% of the plume.
