What is your initial approach to career?
Crimson Sunrise replied to katateochi's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I pretty much avoid all the annoyance and confusion by not playing Career mode at all. -
Questions for squad
Crimson Sunrise replied to .DJFrostbite's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
That's not how monthly paid jobs work, son. -
After some discussion in other threads with moderators and...kinda gagging at the 'General Thread for everything you must ask moderators to do with threads', instead of having that sole post just for that, why not make the 'Report Post' button serve that purpose as well, instead of having the user copy the thread link and post in another thread that, for example, a thread should be moved?

No vacations. Since you got to beta, you might as well start hammering out those bugs already. -
User thread lock control over their own thread?
Crimson Sunrise replied to CaptainKipard's topic in Kerbal Network
I may be under the impression that the moderation is either frowned upon by certain users, not trusted or both. -
User thread lock control over their own thread?
Crimson Sunrise replied to CaptainKipard's topic in Kerbal Network
Maybe because, considering all the moderation discussion and things that Vexx32 (Hopefully that's how it's spelled, cause I'm not gonna go back and look) pointed in another thread, that would take too much time for that to be done? Just using the good old Occam's Razor principle there. -
Fair enough. May I ask what's the purpose (if it has any purpose) of the 'Report Post' button if the moderation is so...'tightly clad' like that?
-
My rules: -Change 'Max Persistent Debris' slider to '0'
-
But, judging by this thread and its posted content so far, some users still think that this is a harsh solution; hence my proposal.

User thread lock control over their own thread?
Crimson Sunrise replied to CaptainKipard's topic in Kerbal Network
The users have control over their own threads. That's your improvement. Plus it makes things more organized than a topic, which could be subjected to data corruption or deletion. -
Bring Back the Barn!
Crimson Sunrise replied to pallyme's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
You could probably build a real barn for the same price it takes to demand the barn's return in here...Except that it doesn't require you spending money on wood and stuff. -
User thread lock control over their own thread?
Crimson Sunrise replied to CaptainKipard's topic in Kerbal Network
-Make the lock have a time interval period -The lock has to be approved by a member of he staff with a written reason -Same applies for thread unlocking This should solve all presented problems. -
You are awarded less points for hastly mispronouncing my user name, Mr. Bananamonde Here's another solution for your problem. Identify the users that are constantly causing problems on a said topic and just keep them from posting in that thread. I'm pretty sure that's possible, right? Personally, that would be more significative than locking a thread and could teach people on how to voice their opinion better.

Maybe that's the first time Terry Prachett is compared to a game...

And that's pretty much your words right there. RealSolarSystems is a MOD and not part of the core game. Therefore, it only represents how a portion of the KSP community who doesn't speak for the entirety of KSP players thinks the game should be and play like. As for the other point Xaiier made...I don't think anyone of the KSP developers have experience in mobile platform development, so that wouldn't be a fair exchange, IMO.

As a disclaimer, most of what I'll say is based on prior experiences being a member of other forums with 'iron fist' moderation. My answers so far are based on what's been posted so far about the actions on the moderator's part. Continuing.... I don't personally think that parenting is a good idea. Plus the moderators job is, suprisingly enough, moderate the forum and not just sit and watch the breeze pass by. I'm pretty sure that most people that start such topics in an intelligent manner don't do it just to cause controversy. IMO, if a moderator doesn't like to do that sort of thing, then why he either volunteered to be one or accepted invitations for it, especially considering that in 99% of cases, you're not being paid to be a moderator in the first place? I hope it's not because of just the position, otherwise, you're not worth much as a person. Sure, some controversial subjects should be avoided for the sake of common sense, but throwing an entire apple basket because of a couple of rotten ones doesn't do much justice for the (hopefully) higher amount of people that's able to carry a polite discussion about subjects without resorting to fallacies and personal attacks. I'm not sure about you, but given the type of game this forum circles around, I'm pretty sure people around here at least have a little more intellect and common sense than, say....An anime forum or similar. I would even say that, sometimes, this type of turmoil is even necessary when you have more moderators than necessary, especially to keep them from plotting against users (which is something I've seen happening before and it's not funny to talk about).

KSP Beta - balance of Buildings
Crimson Sunrise replied to Jduen's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Well, first the mass of some parts have to be fixed before this is taken into consideration. -
Erm...Every rocket has a phallic shape so the joke is not that funny. Sorry.
-
That's in part due to the fact that the OpenGL is an open source library whose code is well known and can be adapted for optimization (mainly because it's free). DirectX being proprietary, holds other restrictions that keep certain optimizations from happening. You can only use the API the way it is and said API is restricted to the Windows OS (Linux and OSX games have to be ported to use OpenGL instead when you have a Linux or OSX version.)
-
Well...In general harsh unjustified actions generally result in higher resistance towards them. Pretty much like trying to solve the problem of guns with more guns.

What is the point of the Suggestions subforum?
Crimson Sunrise replied to CaptainKipard's topic in Kerbal Network
It's certainly better than vaguely suggesting something in hopes of my suggestion being taken into consideration. I don't personally know or care how much the game's developers take the suggestions thread into consideration or seriously so...I'm just wondering. Also, a game is only done when you stop working on it. A good example of that would be what Bethesda does. When they want a game done, they stop patching and updating it, then move on.
