My spaceships are too ugly But i have one going to Jool, and its planned to enter into pol orbit. It was never designed to land, but, i will try tonight. My long term missions usualy takes a mothership and a mining vessel. The mining vessel never returns to Kerbin. I will post some pictures tonight.

is it worth refueling before leaving SOI?
Freds replied to Provisional Name 12's topic in KSP1 Discussion
It depends on the strategy adopted. Sometimes, when i launch a heavy ship, it gets too heavy to launch with full tanks, but, if i launch with just enough fuel to get to orbit, i can use a much smaller, less expensive, more simple and reliable launcher stage. -
is it worth refueling before leaving SOI?
Freds replied to Provisional Name 12's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I never refuel in kerbins SOI, except when the ship is meant to be reusable to more missions. For interplanetary missions, i usually create a 'mothership' which always stays in space, and use small ships to bring Kerbals and equipment to/from Kerbin. What i do is to send dedicated mining/refuel ships to other planets, so i can refuel the mothership if needed. In Kerbin my refuel ship always land on mimus, in Jool its stays on Pol (but its capable of landing in Vall) , in Eve lands on Gilly.... But i got tired of mining Mimus to refuel something in Kerbin's orbit, so i just made a Space Station with a 'cheat refueling unit', with give-me lots of fuel (LF, LFO, O ). I only use that in Kerbins, because it is not fun to have it in other places. Just need to use the imagination and belive that the Kerbal Space Agency contract someone to do refuel missions to the refueling Spacestation! . -
Oh this just made-me remember a sad day in my Kerbal Space Program, where a mission to send some tourists to Jool fails There was a contract to bring 5 tourists to Tylo orbit. So i send a small ship with the tourists to a mothership in Kerbin orbit, and send the mothership to Jool. The plan was to collect science from Tylo, pol and bop surfaces, so the tourists in orbit was a bonus. What happenned? Simple: I setted a course to jool, aiming at Tylo (to use Tylo's gravity assist). Kerbals arrived at Tylo periapsis, so i burn retrograde to get nice Jool orbit. But, something bad happened: I dont know why, the docking port connecting the tourists ship to the mothership simply exploded, send the tourists to a one way trip into jool atmosphere. No enough DV to change course, not enough time to try a rescue. The mothership was saved, but i lost one pilot and 5 tourists that day :(. At least they managed to send some crew reports inside jool atmosphere! Its the kerbals way to do things: If you are gonna die, at least send the science back home!

[1.3.1] Ferram Aerospace Research: v0.15.9.1 "Liepmann" 4/2/18
Freds replied to ferram4's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
WOW! Thats great news Ferram! I think i just saw Jeb running to the my old 1.0.5 Laythe spaceplane... I stopped playing Kerbal when update 1.1.x was released, because it simply crashed in my computer after a few minutes. Even 1.1.3 was completely unplayable. I even uninstalled Kerbal to avoid frustation But... 1.2 is almost perfect! I LOVED the commnet! I only wish that somebody maintains the Adjustable Landing Gear mod, its a must have for SpacePlanes, specially with FAR. (I tried to create a mod some time ago, but with, 11 hours at work ( 8 working, plus 3 hours lost in traffic.) + 5 hours studying , and usually sleeping 4 hours per day, its dificult to create something :(.- 14,073 replies

[1.3.1] Ferram Aerospace Research: v0.15.9.1 "Liepmann" 4/2/18
Freds replied to ferram4's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
In his last mission, Jebediah refuses to land on Laythe. He told me that he will only land when FAR is updated and installed. If Jeb can wait for FAR, everyone can wait!- 14,073 replies

YESS!!! I will install it tonight!!!

I use MechJeb for docking, ascending, landing, interplanetary voyages. But i always adjust the node manually to fine tune my trajectory,. In my actual save, i'm sending Jeb and other kerbals to the Jool system, for a mission to collect science on all planets except laythe (i will go to laythe after Ferram4 update FAR). To perform the mission, Mechjeb ploted the course to Jool, and i adjusted the node to catch Tylo. So, Mechjeb do the boring part, i do the fun part! Ps: English is not my primary language, so, feel free to point my english errors!

Atmosphere thickness? Whre to edit?
Freds replied to mrrcflying's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Just install FAR when ferram updates it. -
Sabian, MechJeb is awesome! MechJeb has teached-me how to play Kerbal Space Program, how to make the manuevers, orbital rendezvous, sends rocket to orbit, etc. If it wasn't Mechjeb, i would never have bought the game in the 0.24.2 version, nor would still be playing today. In my opinion, MECHJEB and Ferram's FAR are must have mods. Thanks for creating mechjeb!

For Laythe, due to oxygen in the atmosphere, i usually use a spaceplane with rapiers and some droptanks with LOX and extra liquid fuel (for the atmospheric flight). To go back to orbit, i just try to go as high and fast i can with the atmospheric engine mode, and, go to closed cicle when the extra liquid fuel ends or when the plane stop accelerating... The droptank design is nice because it gives extra delta V without add extra complexity to the spaceplane design, and, the weight reduction after the tanks ejections make it easier to reach orbit. I dont know if it works this way with the stock aerodinamics, i always play with FAR.

I dont know the mexico's laws, but, maybe their work contract is only for a predefined time. Here, in Brazil, a company can contract someone with a predefined period, generally for 3 or 6 months (it often happens before christmas or Easter, due to sales increase in this periods).

I was searching for an old game - Tachyon: The Fringe - and, i dont know why, youtube suggested a video about KSP... Next day, i searched Tachyon and KSP in piratebay, downloaded both. I played KSP for a week, exploded a lot of rockets, crashed some spaceplanes, crashed my computer too...... Because KSP is such a amazing game (one of the best and funniest space simulators ever made), i bought on Steam. I play KSP since 0.24.2 (PirateBay), and 0.25 (Steam). I stop playing in the 1.1.2, because the game crashes every few minutes. Now i'm waiting for 1.1.3 to resume my space program, and send jebediah to eve surface, and back to kerbin!!

Landing Leg problem on launch pad.
Freds replied to Freds's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
OOPPS!!! Now i realize what happened: Alshain was right: The pre-release tag When the pre-release was.. released, i turned on the pre release tag, but deactivated after the release was... well.... released ^^. When the game was updated to 1.1.2, i stopped playing kerbal, waiting for the next patch (lot of bugs, 1.1.2 is unplayable!) . Now i realized what happened: My computer has 3 harddrives: 1 for linux, 1 for windows, and another for backup: My linux harddisk (with Kerbal, and all my work ) crashed some days ago - all data lost - I replaced the faulty drive with a new one, reinstalled linux and restored my /home partition from the backup, restored my work from the git repository in the backup drive, This morning I read the announcement of patch 1.1.3, and when I got home , I opened the steam to play Prison Architect, when "Downloading Kerbal" appeared, I thought it was updated to 1.1.3 ...:( . The /home backup was very old (the important data was in the git partition), that must be the cause for the update. Tomorrow i will reinstall all my system from scratch, and will reinstall kerbal when the 1.1.3 is released. I simply love this game, 1195 game hours counted on steam. I purchased the game on Steam when 0.25 was released. !! -
I think i found a bug in 1.1.3 experimentals... Just build a ship with 1 part, add some landing legs, retract the landing legs and, the ship jumps! Poor jebediah I made a video of the problem. ps: Sorry for my poor english: Its not my primary language - i still learning how to write in english Player.log: KSP.LOG

Kerbal Space Program patch 1.1.2 is now live!
Freds commented on KasperVld's article in Developer Articles
I could not play 1.1.2 on linux or windows: The game closes after a few minutes I am waiting for an update ... -
Yes. I only use for Windows in my computer to play games that runs only on windows..... For everything else, its linux. If a game runs on linux, i run it on linux: Kerbal Space Program, Prison Architect, Empire Total War, Civilization 5, Bioshock Infinity,Xcom, all old games that run in dosbox, runs on linux.

[1.0.4]Better Buoyancy v1.4 - obsolete as of 1.0.5; 7/29/15
Freds replied to ferram4's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
HI! I'm trying to land an VTOL aircraft in water, and, even with 0 horizontal velocity and 1m/s vertical velocity, my craft simply explodes seconds after it touches the water due to "atmosferic stress" failure. I tried to land several times: . I tryied with firespitter floaters, USI Survivability floaties, and even without any floatation device - every test with almost 0 horizontal speed and 1m/s vertical speed. I'm using Better Bouyancy, FAR and Deadly reentry (and a lot other mods, like mechjeb, vertical velocity controller, Davon Throttle Control systems and a lot of parts....), with kerbal 0.90 x64 running in ubuntu 14.04 Sorry for my poor english, i'm from Brazil and i still learning how to write in english. -
