  1. Thanks much, @Nhawks17. I'm hoping that will go a long way towards heading off more instances of this same problem. I love CKAN's ideas, but setting it up so anyone can drop a .netkan file may not be the best of ideas. While it does allow for forks and derivation mods to get posted easily, it's just as easy for something like this to happen as well. This. Also a viable way to fix @Illation' s problem, and could also be the simplest in this case. Thanks for the back-up... I'd not really thought about the problem beyond seeing CKAN usage popping up again.
  2. *SIGH* You didn't read all that well, I'm afraid, @Illation. The double layer of clouds you mention is precisely because of your CKAN install - it is completely and totally incorrect. Whoever set up the.netkan file (Not Nhawks, BTW) forced it to pick up EVE as a requirement. This isn't totally incorrect, but SVE includes the required EVE content. So, by installing EVE and SVE seperately, viola... two layers of clouds. This was talked about a long way back in the thread (so I'm quoting the above stuff more about your CKAN usage than anything), but the issue IS in the thread. Correct installation procedure in the first quote.
  3. Up until two posts ago, when I looked at your album I saw what I expected to see... I didn't think there was anything wrong with my install. Now, I have to wonder, since Nhawks just said something was up. Uh... what? Looks exaclty like what I have, unless I'm missing something. Maybe I don't know exactly what it is that's wrong... there's so many pictures in that album, I can't pinpoint exactly what I'm looking for.
  4. Don't suppose there is any chance of posting this as a fork or some such until Ippo does a full release? The lack of funding (and the hatred of Parts Testing) is killing me here. EDIT: Just checked, and the license is public domain. Heck, if it works, there shouldn't be any issues with a repost or recompile done by a third party. If anyone has the knowledge... please?
  5. Well, let me rephrase for clarity - I'm ASSUMING it's normal, since if it isn't, I borked it up the exact same way as everyone else.
  6. It is normal, though certainly not desirable. I'm hoping it gets addressed at some point, but there's other issues he's addressing atm, if I get the gist of things right.
  7. This, of course, assumes you have the slightest clue as to how to do that. As many computer-related skills as I may have, coding and programming is the one I have the least (near-zero) experience in. Of course, the other possibility is that @Z-Key Aerospace posts a temporary link to the one he's running until Ippo gets around to it.
  8. Imagine a great big sad looking Kerbal head, with huge tears of sadness. Me wants da funds! AH well. I shall wait. Impatiently, but I'll do it. 'Cause I have to. I guess.
  9. Another example of people not reading. I mentioned on at least three occasions that this was done by someone other than @Nhawks17. As much as I like CKAN, the single biggest issue (or strength, depending on how you look at it, I suppose), is that anyone can write a netkan file for a mod and have CKAN pick up the mod. The author has only limited control over this. In most cases, this isn't a huge problem... but here, with four versions to pick from and with very specific installation instructions that are not the norm, it is. I appreciate your frustration... I like pretties in my game too, and the easier to install, the better... but in this case no blame can or should be placed at @Nhawks17's feet.
  10. 'Faster' is going to be a function of the CPU moreso than this mod. Although it will have at least SOME effect, the texture pack you pick will mostly affect the visuals. If the CPU can't handle the stuffs, then unfortunately, the stuffs may need to be left out.
  11. This I was glad to see. Then I tried it, and nothing worked, so I came back to find... ... Which was great, except it wasn't something I understood. How exactly does one do this, or should I wait for @Ippo to take care of it?
  12. Fixed that for you. Yeah, I get it - just annoys me. I'm in a job where, if you dont read and use the documentation, people can, have, and do die. It's kind of bred into me to RTFM, and annoys me all to heck when the exact same question has to be answered repeatedly. /rant
  13. Forgive me if I'm wrong, Tiger... but didn't the 1.0.5 version work/deploy experiments that were in the Universal Storage mod? That no longer seems to be the case now. In my current playthrough, I have to manually open the doors on any experiments before the automated science gets done, which almost defeats the point. On a similar vein, the DMagic Magnetometer needs to have the same thing done, though it looks like your last post talks about that. I though it had autodeployed before (as did the oribital telescope and the moisture sensor), but I may be wrong in that memory.
  14. Oh boy... @Nhawks17, if you don't get the OP fixed up, we're going to keep getting this same question over and over again... @ctbram: DO NOT USE CKAN for this mod. It's plastered all over this page, and the two before it. Nhawks didn't create the netkan file for it, it's set up entirely incorrectly, and will only set you up for failure. I will post here, for whit I hope (but doubt) will be the last time, the proper installation method: 1) Download SVE through the Github Link, and the Github link ONLY. 2) Ensure all instances of StockVisualEnhancements and EnhancedVisualEnhancements are removed from your Gamedata folder. 3) Install everything from the downloaded SVE version into Gamedata. To clarify, despite what the OP says at the moment, do NOT use Kopernicus (for this, anyhow), as it is not needed by the current version. Do NOT download and install EVE seperately - SVE includes a bundled version that has the correct files and setups needed for SVE. I'm not meaning to come off abrasive, but seriously, guys - doesn't anyone READ the thread before they install something?
  15. CKAN in and of itself is not the issue - it's pretty stable. It's all the 'unauthorized' netkan files pulling things that aren't ready, or that the author him/herself didn't want to exist, as is the case here. NHawks doesn't want this on CKAN... yet... and still, there it is in the list, and not up to date, nor does it appear to be offering links to all FOUR versions of resolution. Additionally, it's making EVE a dependency when it shouldn't be (since the required version comes packed with), which makes it further an issue. It's not CKAN - its the sloppy netkan file someone created to 'make life easier' for us.
  16. No screen, but it's listing latest version as 1.0.6.4 with the source code linking back to the Github repo. Download size is 27039KB (MR?). No data other than that.
  17. I'm noticing since I updated to the most recent version that the initial check will hang on the screen... Message is checking 34 of 35 mods, and it stays there straight through the main menu screen. Has anyone seen this behavior before? EDIT: RTPage, dummy. Noticed this up above, and apparently it's something to do with incorrect URLs. Hopefully, that patch that was mentioned gets into the main mod, or has it already and it's a new incarnation of the old problm?
  18. That is making it sound more like your version of scatterer (if you are using it?) may be the wrong one as well. SVE uses configs of scatterer, so if turning off the atmosphere settings causes the issue to go away, that would be the next thing I check. I am curious how it showed up on CKAN in the last day or so, then... was somebody trying to generate the netkan file lately? I sem to recall someone saying that a few pages back, but tbh, I can't be bothered to go back that far... If someone is, they are adding so much confusion to this process it's not even funny. @Nhawks17: you may want to consider overhauling the OP and putting "DO NOT USE CKAN INSTALLS" in big bold letters somewhere, along with updating the install instructions. Somehow, we're getting all the literate people here who actually read and try to follow the instructions. Hard to admit, I know, but somehow, they are...
  19. Then I may be a little confused in my rememberings - or maybe I'm mixed up with stock EVE... but as I recall, the auroras used to be a solid band of energy circling the pole, circling it slowly. It's far more spotty now, and the spots themselves do not shift or move in any fashion, other than (possibly) some cloud layers moving rapidly through it to try to provide the illusion of movement, which is not (in my mind) successful in that regard. It's way down on the priority list, but seeing the look of these improve would be wonderful. WRT your first screenshot - the clouds do not always show properly in the menu screen anyhow, so that's not always an indicator that there is a problem. I had that earlier today myself, and loading up my save gave it all back with no issues. Don't rely on the menu screen to judge if it's working. For the second... wow. Not sure how that happened - certainly not something I've seen before. I'll do a quick checklist here for you : 1) CKAN and SVE. No. Just... No. I saw it posted a version that is supposed to be 1.1 compatible, but it's at least one or two iterations out of date. So yeah.... NO. 2) To clear out things for the best shot at a good install, remove the EVE and SVE folders completely. You probably did this in your testing, but if not, that could be some of the problem. I included this step for completeness. 3) No Kopernicus as of yet... while it HAS had a 1.1 update, the configs for it here aren't yet. So, like step one... NO(t yet). 4) Use ONLY the EVE folder from the GitHub release of SVE. There is no need to grab the EVE on CKAN (again.. CKAN... NO!) and put that in, then put in SVE's version on top of that. Bad Things (tm) will happen... and have in the past. Give that all a shot, see if it works. If it's still all gooned up, I suggest a fresh install of KSP to give you a solid baseline installation, then only installing SVE to get it working first, then other mods on top of that.
  20. Normal, though I do hope they get some love in the near future. @Nhawks17: correct me if I'm wrong, but after I finally got a good close up of them last night on a near--polar orbit, they look like they are rapid-movement clouds in a set area of color, yes? IE< I can see times when there looks like thin and thick coverage of clouds, but moving very rapidly across the green colored areas, though the areas themselves never lose color or shift in any way. I don't recall this being the way they were originally... I thought that the colored areas themselves shifted in size and location as well. If not, ignore me, but if that was the case, is it going to get back to that look? Or at least something a little less static, at least so far as where those green areas show? Having them in a static location just looks wrong for an aurora.
  21. More than fair - my only question regards the potential additions that have been discussed in recent weeks, in particular the constant position and mode type... I hate having to move the window around every time I load the game. Of course, if the goal is working copy first, than new additions, I'm certainly in favor of that as opposed to nothing.
  22. If it isn't, we are in ENTIRELY the wrong thread. Or he is. Or someone is. ...what were we talking about?
  23. As it happens, and as normal internet question procedures demand, about 5 minutes after I posted that, I figured out both the forked Toolbar and (to my eternal frustration) that I hadn't needed it anyhow. *facepalm* Thanks again for both the help and the understanding.
  24. Willing, if it's a relatively simple process. I did a lot of texture work back in the Jedi Academy (and JK2) days, but those were all single layer textures. If you can direct me to a simple tutorial (or, even better, specific directions using the currently installed assets), I have both PS and the nVidia tools to go with it, which I know has at least SOME cube map related items. Standing by for word... EDIT: Also, I feel compelled to point out that PSCS6 is availiable from Adobe direct for about 10 a month on a recurring subscription. I know not everyone has the money to do so, but in case this had escaped your notice, I thought I'd throw that out there.
  25. Quite a bit so, and you just filled in a number of things I was having problems finding. Thanks for both the clarification and the instructions - this was killing me trying to figure it out. Besides - I figured anyone with a Oortolan as an avatar couldn't be all bad. Since it's somewhat related, I'll edit this in - I assume that the mod still needs Blizzy's Toolbar. I tried the fork methodology you had above, and apparently, I'm still dumb. Any thoughts, or did I miss that this will work w/o Blizzy's?
