  1. Hello Squad, the wiki is in migration state for 2 month now. Also most parts seem to work file upload still doesn't. The wiki is an important source for new users and experienced ones and images matter. The Parts website needs them badly and the dV map from Kowgan needs an update. So please fix it. And if you have no time, no money, don't know anyone who can fix it: This is a quite large community. I guess you just have to ask and there would be several volunteers to do this in their spare time! And if you fear that somebody from the outside could tinker with other services on the server, just move the wiki to another virtual machine. All it needs is a database snapshot and the mediawiki data directory. That's it. So pleeeeaaaaasssssssee. Also you're great.
  2. Your dV map is a big help! I didn't notice the problems with the wiki. Well, I'll start a nag thread somewhere Squad will see it
  3. Mechjeb. If you've been to Minmus 20 times it becomes boring to adjust the maneuver nodes, warp to them and "burn" them. Landing on planets is much more fun. Or driving high speed rovers or building stuff or launching stuff. But then getting them into a proper orbit gets boring, too. Crashing them though....
  4. Well, I'm a computer scientist and was told there would be fun things to do after getting my degree. Now I'm working in engineering and, well, I'm an engineer now.
  5. Hello Kowgan, thank you very much for the chart! It was very useful in my latest missions and will be even more, when I try to get three Kerbals back from Eve Could someone with an account update the Cheat Sheet site in the wiki?

    Heat Wave...

Phew. I think it is over. At least it is taking a break for now. But still to warm to fire up KSP. Wednesday, maybe...
  7. Uhm, this would be pretty amazing. Because the Planet Express Ships engine doesn't move the ship but the universe around it. Just like Kerbal Ships do.
  8. When you are wishing for radiator panels to manage your body heat.

    Heat Wave...

Fellow Kerbalists and Kerbonauts, we have a heat wave here and I can't play KSP right now, because it's unusual to have AC here. Who ever is out there and has the same problem: You are not alone. We will survive this, as all our Kerbals survive re-entry heat. And soon enough we will be able to play again.
  10. I feel with you. I want that node, too. But I guess it's not intended to be able to attach things together based on their current state. The node had to disapear if you close the shield. But on the other hand, why make it possible to open the shield if you can't connect something there? - - - Updated - - - Also I want to be able to attach parts to the openings of cargo bays. Say solar panels...
  11. Hi! A few days ago I grabbed something from Minmus surface with this: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/29533-What-did-you-do-in-KSP-today?p=2054282&viewfull=1#post2054282 You might wanna give it a try.
  12. Hi. You need around 400 m/s to get into a low Ike orbit again. If you plan a resuce mission you can go into orbit, fly next to your lander with the rescue pod and EVA all your Kerbals over. You can take the science, too. Just go on EVA, click on the pod and select "Take Data". You can do this for all kinds of experiments, too. But after low Ike Orbit you've got 400 m/s left. This could actually be enough to get on the way to Kerbin. It'll be just a flyby, but you can rescue them, when they are near Kerbin or you can try to push (EVA, RCS on, push! )
  13. A few days ago I figured out what to grab from Minmus to finish a contract. Still not sure who left it there and why an SRB is so important, but this called for the SkyCrane! As you can see it has a claw, four landing legs some solar panels and much much monopropellant. And to be true, without MechJeb this would have been even harder. I'm not sure how to do this without a joystick and SmartSAS to hold it steady. We still have no extandable parts. Like a strut that you could retract. Then this would be much easier. Build something with wheels, drive over it, grab it, fly it into orbit. But anyway I managed to grab it almost at the center, get it back into Minmus' orbit. And attach it there to my SpaceTug. Here you see the SkyCrane attached to the SpaceTug and my Ike Refinery, which is a leftover of the Duna mission. Please also note the docking adapter from senior to regular... Sadly a bad shot, but in the next picture you'll see what I was doing: And here we have the SkyCrane back inside its Orbit delivery vehicle: Everything fits: (Well, the plane was designed to carry the SkyCrane and the SRB. I'm an engineer, I know what I'm doing. Most of the time. Well, sometimes. Ok, sometimes I'm lucky.) A very huge SSTO spaceplane. Flies pretty well on 6 RAPIERS, enough fuel to make a 200 km orbit (but not much farther, without never being able to get back. Or sending Jeb outside to push). Well, it sucks on re-entry. Flips, etc. I think this happens because the front wings and the back wings are the same size, which basically means that they have the same drag and lift rates. Anyway, after a bit of flipping I was able to get it under control (I think someone barked in the cabin, or something died inside) and landed it. No landing shots though, I forgot to make some...
  14. I inspected some debris I shall recover for a contract. Ehm, an empty SRB? But why?
  15. Uhm, the aeroplane parts aren't meant to go to the orbit... 1200 °C max! I amazed that your main wings didn't burn up, too...
  16. Third addition: Just checked with MechJeb and it's automatic node exec feature plus physics warp at 4x. Apoapsis should have been around 21 Mm, I ended up at 25 Mm. Looks like ion engines are for people with too much time...
  17. I have to admit I'm a bit sad. I was watching for over an hour really excited to see the launch, then shortly after the launch had a bad feeling and a minute later saw parts falling everywhere. And I even saw the Dargon capsule flying off and was wondering if they may be able to recover it. It looked unharmed and has chutes on board... But still a pretty sad moment. And yes, I did have this sabotage thought, too. Two times a resupply mission fails? Well, two more upcoming until the ISS runs out of supplies. If they blow up as well...
  18. With mission time you're talking about the time displayed in the upper left? I have not checked this. Will do and come back. Uh, I think I mean 17 Mm... - - - Updated - - - Ok, just checked, the mission time never turns yellow or red. Anything else would have suprised me. My computer my be 2 years old, but it's still fast enough to let me fly 500 part ships. But I've noticed some SAS "wobbling". Maybe I should try it again with SmartSAS.
  19. Hi, earlier today I created my first ion probe to complete a sat contract. Single engine, fuel cells (thanks for the hint, whoever it was, better than gigantors!) and a small xenon container. My first burn to get to 17 Mkm needed around 800 m/s dV and the burn time was calculated to 8:40. So I started my burn at -4:20 and, since nobody wants to wait 8 mins to complete a burn, except real space craft pilots, I used physics warp. After 4 minutes at two times normal speed there were almost 4 minutes still left to burn. So I ended up accelerating for almost 12 minutes. The next time I did my circularization burn I watched the estimate burn time and the node time very closely. At 1x warp they were going down in sync. But when I enabled physics warp they didn't anymore. Did someone experience similiar behavior? (And before you answer, go watch the SpaceX launch!)
  20. From yesterday: I did a rescue mission and while EVAing Allison over to the rescue ship this came up: I also made my first big spaceplane. It's an SSTO and grabs things from the orbit and brings them back: Reentry was a bit harsh, CoL and CoM weren't good aligned and the lift area is too low. Version 2 has bigger wings in the front and flys much much better. Have a look at the Recovery:
  21. Staging error, deploying chutes with the main engine starting. Ruins my day everytime, too...
  22. Well, I'm just back from trying out my one SSTO design which I improve and rebuild since 0.90. It seems to be all about the ascend profile now. And it doesn't look very forgiving. If you're going to slow with the RAPIERs you'll end up burning too much fuel in the lower atmosphere. If you go to fast you end up burning too much fuel... you now the drill. I just tried this profile which worked pretty well actually: Climb to 10 km, but never let your speed go below 150 m/s in the lower atmosphere, let it increase a bit so that you're going around 250 m/s at 10 km, then almost level out and gain speed. I got to 1500 m/s before my speed was decreasing, because the atmosphere got to thin. Nothing burned up. Switched mode (I always do this manually and close all the intakes, too) pulled a bit up and when I noticed my apoapsis increasing rapidly I throttled down to 50 %. Before that I tried a too steep aproach and was too slow in the lower atmosphere, didn't even make an orbit. This time I was left with 700 m/s of fuel... (ok, and I docked to my space station, which will be deorbited soon. Stupid design...)
  23. My pretty long Duna mission arrived finally at home. I created a firework just for them:
  24. Sooooooo you're saying that you produce fuel and sell it to the SpaceCenter with profit? Uhm, don't know about you, but seems like it's pretty realistic.
  25. I have my Space Tug floating around Duna right now. Uses four LV-Ns. It takes some time to get somewhere, but it's very efficient. Not bulk, I'd say.
