Retrieving debris from below the surface of the Mun??
Mat2ch replied to CrashTestDanny's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Hi, it's possible to fix this by slightly editing your save file. It's been explained several times in the forum, just give it a quick search. -
Getting Used to the New Aerodynamics in V1.0.4

Can't watch, because of the music contains blabla, thank you GEMA. -
Eject a Class D asteroid out of the solar system - Lessons learnt.
Mat2ch replied to Mat2ch's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Hello Salvator, the report was written back for 0.90, where we had no resource mining. Today I'd build a smaller tug, with just enough fuel to catch up on the asteroid, mine it and use the converted fuel to accelerate it. No, the class does not change with mining, but it's weight. It's even possible now to mine a Class E dry and land it on Kerbin, because it's light as a feather. -
Although I got a bit tired of KSP recently I built a plane, after seeing this http://gfycat.com/TeemingPoshIndianringneckparakeet# It's a good locking plane and it's very easy to steer. And then I further practiced my low-level flight skills: It's hard to go any deeper

I'm totally for YES. Please, add this. This will not confuse new players if there's an explaination what it means and how to use it. This doesn't need a long text, just a small message. I'm currently playing a game where you have informationaly videos. Just add something like "Milestones" (now named "Records") and with every Milestone you get a video and new functions. Like: "Our scientists have discovered that it's best to not carry all the heavy and empty stuff to space!" or "We've discovered that it's good to have enough power to carry weight into space. We call it TWR <add small explaination here with some badly drawn sketches>" I know you guys from Squad can do videos, I've seen them. And these are small, don't have to be long or in any way of good graphics. Just some text, maybe renderings and sketches and that's it. And this could continue, until all the important parts are explained. (Like Latitude and Longitude ) And then you get this information in a HUD, like KER does.

How far have you gone in Kerbal Space Program?
Mat2ch replied to Columbia's topic in KSP1 Discussion
In .90 I got almost all Joolian moons explored, then 1.0 hit and I started my career game all over. Now I'm in it for month now and doing all kinds of stuff, but not exploring all planets and their moons... And currently I'm working on my VTOL+kOS-Ship and an Eve lander+return stage. Sometimes very frustrating. Enough to get me back to Borderlands' PreSequel and kill some Scavs... I like to shoot only their air bubble and see them suffer. But I'm planing to send only a rover to Eve and just land on Gilly to refuel and then go further to Jool. But I bet 1.1 will hit. And I'm looking forwared to Multiplayer. Maybe it's possible then to design together, which would be much more fun... -
I'm currently a bit annoyed by the fact how hard it is to design something that can land on Eve, refuel itself there and get back to orbit. I made a design, it looks promesing, I can get it down in one piece, but haven't been able to get it up. There are minor tweaks everywhere to do until it's perfect. Eve is hard. Hopefully not hard enough to break me and take the fun out of the game. To release some anger I built a plane (I always build planes, dozens of them, many get never a real name and just overwritten. I like designing them) and practice on how low I can fly at high speeds.

Hello Steven, thank you for your answer! And sorry I called you Steve earlier, I missread it and I hope you're not upset... You are right that is, what I was looking for. Now some more vector magic and I have everything I need. Oh, some sinus and cosinus magic as well.
-
Ok, this approach is not what I need. Canceling out the horizontal velocity only works, if I can limit the angle of attack. Otherwise my controller will try very violently to do this and if it's by crashing into the ground... I think Angle of Attack is the right keyword. That's what I'm looking for and haven't found yet in the documentation.
-
Hello Steve, thank you for your answer. Right now I just want to know my angle in the air. E.g. I want to know if it points straight up or if there is some roll or pitch in the vessel. The next step after that would be controlling roll and pitch to get the relative velocity to 0. But now I'm not sure if I need the first step. I could just cancel out all horizontal velocity and would get the same result, I guess.

Hi, I'm currently trying to build something like a quadrocopter with kOS. Currently it looks like this: Engines are already controlled to keep vertical speed to an adjustable value. Now I want to make it hover without haveing to use SAS, just by individually controlling the engines. But I ran into a problem with the orientation here. I tried several of them SHIP:UP, SHIP:FACING, etc. But I can't find a value which gives me the deviation in a way that I can add it to my controller. I think SHIP:FACING gave me the proper X value, but not the proper value for Z. So I'm stuck here. Does anyone have an example for me? Thank you!

I really hope for submarines... I know this is Kerbal Space Program. But think of a submarine SSTO!
-
I know this is a rethorical question, but is there something as too much ram?
-
Coldness, I welcome you! But do you have to be SO cold? We've got a temperature drop by 15 to 20° C from yesterday to today. And it feels more like -20° C now...

What brand of GPU do you use to play KSP?
Mat2ch replied to Red Iron Crown's topic in KSP1 Discussion
You really should try the open source drivers for the AMDs! AMD has increased its driver support by directly supporting the community, not as nvidia, making mediocre closed source drivers and not release any specs for their cards. -
Well, since I enjoy going camping I know the feeling of cocking in the rain. And believe me, if you're going to camp here, you will have rain. Ok, I have rain. Not the others, but that's my luck And having no power for a few days. I guess it's like holidays. It's different, but still somehow the same thing every day.
-
You need a Tesla Powerwall! And now I really understand why they are selling so good. What do you do, when the power is gone? I guess you've got gas ofens and lamps all around? And doesn't almost everyone have an AC in Florida? I mean it's hot, it's humid, I'd die there without one...
-
And here it is again! But only visiting for two days. Sadly still tomorrow, where I have to work. Off to the pool!

The clickthrough may be gone with Unity 5. And remember the Oh, I have a hundred parts thing here, do you want to add it in symmetrical mode? You can avoid that by holding ALT...

Hello Steve, this sounds like an interesting challange, but I'm missing several important parts of the code to do this. I currently switch SAS on and control the thing with the keyboard. No direction control, no "i'm here, go there" yet and not enough time to write and test this. My code is still very clumsy and I have to learn much before I can enter such a challange. - - - Updated - - - This calls for EVAing and pushing Staging should work without power...

I don't know why, but I'm not killing any Kerbals anymore... I developed a good feeling, what is good, what is bad and it works pretty well. Ok, my last reentry was a bit harsh and blew up a docking port, but I managed to land safely... The only time I kill Kerbals is, when I'm doing crazy airplane designs and fly around the space center and hit things *coughs*...

I'm mostly with you, polishing, fine-tuning. Like: You can leave some buildings with ESC, others not. Some visual updates, like clouds, dust, rain, wind. I'd like to have a storm and a message: Heavy storm, bad time to launch, continue?

I worked further on my PID controller in kOS and made a basic jet engine hovering. Then I did a quatrocopter, with jet engines Well, currently it's just climb rate control controlled by the throttle input. Next thing is to switch to direct engine control. And then I'm going to try to make a real VTOL control with offset engines and such, so I don't have to care about the CoM anymore. And then, I wont talk about what I'll do then VTOL to the heli pad on the VAB: On the, uh, contracts(?) building: And my quatrocopter

Never experienced that. When you're 100 m apart there are very few lag spikes on my system. And you've still got to watch where you're going, since you always drift a bit. So warping, correcting, warping, correcting is often what I'm doing.
