It really looks like it'll be over next week! At least partially. Getting cooler at night, so I can get the heat out of here...
-
Retrorockets! If you're really coming in this hot, try using Sepatrons just before you touch down.
-
I think they fly better... I should build one.
-
Hi, I'm not sure if this qualifies as submission, I'm missing the screenshot of the other side of the planet. Only one from the desert. It was an equatorial circumnavigation heading from west to east, flight time 59 min 41 seconds. Shot over the desert, still 870 km to go. Landing approach, everything is glowing red... Down on the runway (actually, I forgot to set the breaks right and rolled of it, turned around, because I think this challange should end, where it started), Stats: Don't need a badge, just wanted to do this challange, to see how it feels.
-
This actually inspired me to do this: Flies really bad. But, flies!
-
I really should move north. At least for this summer... have a look at the Baltic Sea, very mild 20 - 24 °C there, fresh wind from the sea... I could play KSP all day long without sweating!
-
This sounds awful, too. Today we will have around 30 °C and currently around 60-70 % humidity. I don't know what's worse. This or the 39 °C...
-
You shouldn't land on Eve in the middle of the night, without an AC...
-
I think the heat is too much for the birds here, too. They're sitting on the hot asphalt of the street and don't move even if a car comes. You have to slow down to not hit them... 25 °C around midnight, they say... And I can't play KSP, because the room will get to hot and there's currently no way to get the heat out. So I have to choose: Heat up my appartment up to the outside temperature or stay away from 3D games...
-
Did I say it's over? Hahaha *rips some hair out* Tomorrow up to 39 °C and then the next two weeks every day 30 °C. EVERYDAY! I can't bear this anymore, I'm moving to Minmus. Oh wait, can't, too hot to play KSP.
-
I finally had some time left to do some contracts. Class B asteroid in orbit of Kerbin and afterwards in orbit of Minmus. Much money! But floating point errors in the flight path calculation of the asteroid made it horrible to get to it. At first everything looked alright, but after a few Kerbin days the trajectory had changed buy a few degrees. When it arrived in Kerbins sphere of influence everything was back to as it was at first. Annoying. And if you're not an experienced user this would have been hell.
-
There are things beyond your control? I can't belive such a thing. Thank you for your effort
-
I'm playing KSP now for many many hours, but I've never ever seen the Mun Castle :/
-
Thank you. I'm reminding. This shouldn't be forgotten. And as I initially said: I'm pretty sure the can get the wiki fixed for free, if someone from Squad just asks here...
-
Up with this thread! The wiki needs fixing badly!

How shall I recover this?!
Mat2ch replied to Mat2ch's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
That's what I did. Had to figure out the format first, it's the "height" parameter I had to edit, iirc. Rover and the part are already back on Kerbin, so everything went well. -
How shall I recover this?!
Mat2ch replied to Mat2ch's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Yeah, well, it's non-recoverable. As soon as I get too close to it, it falls through the ground. And every time I switch to it, it get's stuck just a bit under the surface and falls again. So I drove my rover, which was made to catch it, over it, edited the save file to have the engine above the rover (not as high as on the picture) and could catch it. It's still in Mun orbit, because of another glitch which requires a restart of KSP. As soon as I dock the rover with the space tug, the whole ship gets uncontrollable. Not sure if this is a KSP bug or has something to do with MechJeb. Well, tomorrow I return it to Kerbin then. -
Constructing functional space rocket with only solid fuel (srb)
Mat2ch replied to Pawelk198604's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Sounds a bit like the Vega rocket... -
I like to build landers with this engine configuration, too. Something different and in space I don't have to think about aerodynamic design. I always try to attach some control point on the top of the craft. Either another core or a docking port (where you can attach a space tug). For my last rover, which also uses this engine config, I used a mechjeb module. You just have to orient it right and you can have any angle of orientation. But you're right, you should be prepared to change the part from where the craft is controlled or you will not go to space... - - - Updated - - - Oh, one thing: Please don't use font size and font color excessively. It may look unique, but actually it's hard to read.

Constructing functional space rocket with only solid fuel (srb)
Mat2ch replied to Pawelk198604's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Hello Pawel, the physics range is in atmosphere only 25 km. So if anything is farther out it gets deleted. So don't bother packing chutes on the stages. Oh, and one parachute for the SRB is usually enough. -
So, I've got this contract, recover unit-xyz to Kerbin. The first thing I usually send is a probe, to see what I have to deal with. But, uhm, have a look where the unit is: Yip, floating above the surface. When I switch to it, it falls right through the ground. When I fly near it, most of the time it does the same thing. Now I guess I've got the build a rover, drive under it with the claw, switch to it and hope that the claw catches it. Or a very big rover with a few bays and hope one will catch it... or multiple rovers. I'll keep you updated. This is a special kind of challange!
-
Finally I was able to play bit longer. Heat wave is over \o/ I built a sail plane and was able to glide for over 100 km with it: The decoupler remains are from the two engines which brought me up to ~9 km.
-
Thank you for passing it along
-
Ok, I believe you. But if you're wrong, you owe me a cookie.

Moved to another forum. Is this all? No "I'll ask them" from a mod? Just moving it somewhere, where nobody cares and no one will take action. Whoever moved this could at least ask someone from Squad for an update. *slightly frustrated about the communication style here*
