Repeating what's been said here: Don't worry about memorizing any table or constant. That's not what maths is about. Maths is more about pattern recognition, finding systems in apparent chaos, logical reasoning. Memorizing tables and algorithms is great if one wants to be a drone or a parrot but it is not key to get a grasp on maths. More important is to understand why an algorithm works. There are chemistry professors who can't remember Avogadro's number if their life depended on it but they are still great chemistry professors. You don't have to remember pi to the 20th decimal's place, you dont have to remember what 7x8 is. What you do need is the knowledge that is "what is pi anyway and where can I look it up?", "what is multiplication anyway?" and so on. Learn what all the words, terms and symbols mean and let go of the tables. As for tips: Say for instance you want to become better at mental arithmetics and you would like to practice multiplication. First step is to recognize that multiplication is nothing more than addition where all numbers you add up are the same number over and over. 3 x 5 = 5 + 5 + 5, all 5's, alternatively 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 which add up to the exact same value of 15. Then recognize the value of a cumbersome value like for instance 19 as the easier to work with 20 minus 1, then recognize that if you add say 7 20's you will get 140 which means adding 7 19's instead lands you 1 short of 140 for every 19 you add. Since the number of 19's is 7, then you will end up 7 1's or 7 short of 140, or in other words 133.

Awesome! What's the status of that build now and what dimensions?
-
Sounds wicked cool! I'm a little envious of those who can make scratch builds happen I have read a few articles written by builders and what they can achieve is stunning. Post pics when you have them.

That Snoopy dog house is way cool! Another kind of skills: ... and for helicopters Sick performances by both!
-
Absolute bonkers!
-
Looks like the builder is at it again
-
Judging from the build quality, the pilot is ejectable, has a wife and smelly feet all modelled to great accuracy.

Insane is the word alright. The good kind of insane that is

Happyness must be very close to be 2 Mokis on a giant scale Wicked. Now: How do you become a millionaire? Be a billionaire and start with giant scale models. Also, perhaps the sickest scale I've ever seen

Oh yeah Went a bit viral that one, before we all had our own crashing to attend to!

At least you didn't trim the trees

Been flying helicopters (small ones until my wallet says go big) for about 7 years now and just recently started getting my first plane ready for the maiden. Going to need all winter though on the sim. I don't know much about planes but I do know tail draggers are a nightmare to learn for a newbie with no instructor. It is my firm belief tail draggers exist for the sole reason of crashing upon landing if not on take off. I am awestruck by the guys learning to fly helicopters in the 70's and 80's. No sim, no crutches, DIY blades, proper skills, and stamina. Look up on Youtube the private film reels of Dieter Schluter when he pioneered the developement of model helis and compare that to today with all the sims, all these brands and classes of models, not to mention radio gear. Pure luxury nowadays. Love me a proper scale model and as far as modellers go, there are few who reach the level of this guy http://www.lenmountscalehelicopters.co.uk/

Luckily I found a thread on RCGroups where one had the exact same model. He did cut out the door, hinged it and made a locking mechanism. I cut out the door with an x-acto and access is as good as I could hope for now. Being not only my first plane but also my first scale, I don't mind the decals got slightly roughed up where I cut the door. If this model survives my first take offs and landings, I'm looking into going super scale on it as far as weight allows (got around 200 grams to spend before a new motor + ESC are needed) and if so, then those decals will go anyway. Found the one to model it after, if I can find more photos/documentations. Securing the door should be easy enough. Long term goal is to make it look like this one

I seem to remember there are a few here who fly rc planes. I come from rc helicopters but planes are a complete mystery to me (for now), and I could use some hints and tips from the guys here who have experience with these things. The plane is an electric 5ch ST Models Beaver with lights on an optional 6th channel (distant plans of separating the lights for 3 channels). My radio gear is an 8ch DX8 with an 8ch rx + satellite. The plane is a high wing full body scale foamie ARTF. Now that it has been assembled, the interior is pretty hard to access for fixing and securing the rx/sat and I toy with the idea of cutting out one passenger door. Issue is, this door is underneath the wing and I'm concerned cutting out the door with weaken the hull strength around the wing attachment points. I know I better fit the rx away from the ESC/motor so having them both in the cabin sounds like a good idea to me but again, getting access there is a PITA., without cutting out the door. Any tips in general on where to fit the rx/sat on a foamie? Does it matter much as the only conductive material of note is 3 carbon rods securing the wings, and both motor and ESC are in the nose (battery compartment). Would it be worth it attaching the rx on the outside? (the aerials are really short on the spektrum receivers) Or would it be a very silly idea, considering the lack of protection there? Any tips mucho welcome!

In which country is Audi the biggest seller? In Audi Arabia. In which country do they play loud? In Audiorabia. (aaaand I'm spent and a bit ashamed...nah)

Cleopara: Elisabeth Taylor rules ancient Egypt, she knows how to talk and she really wants a cracker. Metropols: Futuristic vision of a robot hellbent on mastering Norwegian folk dances. The Even Samurai: One mathematically gifted samurai must get along with 6 odd ones. Jurrasic PaK: The stegosaurus may be well armoured but the rexes have a new weapon.

ATC recordings on Youtube can offer a good laugh. Kennedy Steve is (still) always ready to drive pilots to giggles and tug drivers to drinking. "Super tug, you're not very super.... Yes, mediocre tug?"

Probably my favourite pilot story: http://www.jollygreen.info/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Perceptual-Interpretation.pdf

Pseudo quotes and more: The fighter pilot's prayer: "Lord I pray for the eyes of an eagle, the heart of a lion and the courage of a combat helicopter pilot." Gunter's Second Law of Air Travel: The strength of the turbulence is directly proportional to the temperature of your coffee. Tower: "Eastern 702, cleared for take-off, contact Departure on frequency 124.7" Eastern 702: "Tower, Eastern 702 switching to Departure. By the way, after liftoff we saw some kind of dead animal on the far end of the runway." Tower: "Continental 635, cleared for take-off behind Eastern 702, contact Departure on frequency 124.7. Did you copy that report from Eastern 702?" BR Continental 635: "Continental 635, cleared for take-off, roger; and yes, we copied Eastern...we've already notified our caterers."

Played it way too much some time back. It is sort of addicting but I grew tired of the randomness in it throwing any strategy out the window. No maths involved and not much of a puzzle. Now, cross 2048 with Sokoban and it could get weirdly interesting.

Fishermen won't bother if the fish doesn't bite. Do they run up to any stray dog they see as well, to pet them?

The original Batman movie and TV series are still Batman to me. Need to re-watch them now. R.I.P.
