Dunno how to do that. Also, how did you get your description to be "rocket hater"?

Oh, really, complete coincidence! Maybe I'll watch that documentary . BTW I can deal with the crashes KG2 causes

The new James Kerman Space Telescope (JKST) has detected a neutron star on a course that will take it on a close flyby of Kerbol, destabalizing the orbits of the planets. Kerbalkind is forced to build a space ark (see Wikipedia) and evacuate to a Kerbal Galaxy 2 planet, terraform it, and colonize it. Evacuate Kerbin! ETA to Neutron Star Impact: 75 Kerbal years and counting. Sunset Station, in Keosynchronous orbit over the KSC, will oversee the construction in orbit. Mods used: Kerbal Galaxy 2, Kopernicus, Civilian Population, Kethane, TweakScale, KSP Interstellar, EL, USI's MKS/OKS, TACLS, NearFuture, JSI, TextureReplacer, DMagic, K&K Planetary Bases, Hullcam VDS, MechJeb (just for read outs, Flight Engineer crashes the install for some reason), IXS Enterprise, TST, and Endurance. Stay tuned for story updates!

You know that there are six mass extinction events, not five? The sixth is the Holocene extinction event. The cause: Human activity! It's true!

Stuck on Laythe Colony 1 (without a return stage)

@SpaceplaneAddict Never mind, I know it's not very good, but it's my first time writing something like this

Do the Kerbals know it's only a game? "Copy that, Munar 25. You're go for landing." "100 meters... 50 meters... 25 meters... 10 meters up, 1 m/s... 1 meter, 0.5 m/s... Touchdown!" "I'm getting out, Pilot." "Ok, Woody, just be back before dinner!" "So that's the Munolith... What's that strange symbol on it?" "Hey, it's Heywood Kerman! Come on, we need the publicity photo!" "I thought this was top secret? Never mind." "What's that writing on it? 'Squad'? What's that supposed to mean?" -- 18 munths later -- "Our trajectory looks good... What's next on the agenda?" "I have detected a fault in the KE-36 unit. You will need to go EVA to fix it." "Ok, I'm backing out of the pod bay now... That's odd, the KE-36 unit looks fine. Oh, well, I'm coming back in." "MechJeb, open the pod bay doors." "I'm sorry, Jeb. I'm afraid I can't do that." "MechJeb, open the pod bay doors." "I'm sorry, Jeb. I'm afraid I can't do that." "MechJeb. Open the pod bay doors!" "I'm sorry, Jeb. I'm afraid I can't do that." "MechJeb! Open them! Now!" "I'm sorry, Jeb. I'm afraid I can't do that." "MechJeb!!!" "I'm sorry, Jeb. I'm afraid I can't do that." "Oh, well, I guess I'm going to Jool and back in a pod." -- 3 munths later -- WARNING! SNACK SUPPLY DEPLETED! WARNING! SNACK SUPPLY DEPLETED! "Dang it!" "Wait a minute, what's that, near Jool? I'm going for a closer look... It's a black monolith, like the one they found on the Mun! What's that? 'Squad'? Hmm..." -- At that time, on Vall -- Mysterious voice: "A Kerbal is approaching the monolith. Should we reveal the truth?" Mysterious voice: "It's time, HarvesteR. We've waited so long for this moment." HarvesteR: "Very well. I will activate the sequence now." Suddenly, bright floating orbs appeared over the rectangular blocks of Vallhenge. The orbs shot out beams of light that met just above the largest pyramid spike of Vallhenge, creating an enormous orb on top of it. Then, orbs formed over the other pyramids. The orb on the smallest pyramid shot out a beam of light that passed through the other pyramidal orbs, joining the largest orb, which shot out another beam of light which flew to the monolith that Jeb was next to. -- Back at the Monolith -- The monolith shone like a star now and sucked Jeb into it. A strange light show greeted Jeb, who was rather confused by all this, but smiling as usual. Sights and sounds flashed by his spacesuit visor. Then, music started playing, and a rocket flew past. Jeb saw a spaceship that he recognized, with a few of his comrades in it. Then, he heard a voice, "Hullo, it's Scott Manley here..." The strange vision vanished as soon as it had come, and other sounds came and went, such as "Hello, and I am the Beardy Penguin, and...". Every sound was accompanied by a video, although not all videos had talking, just music. Finally, black words appeared on the blank white background: Arriving at Mexico City, Mexico, KSP developer's conference table. Jeb shot out of a computer next to the conference table, where the KSP developers were discussing bugs to be fixed for 1.1. Jeb said a cross between "Whee!" and "What the !@#$?!" The developers just stared as he bounced of the table and into another computer, where he faceplanted into the soil next to the KSC. Bill and Bob found him, and they worked out what all this craziness meant. The End

Send the exact same probe design into orbit around EVERY body in the Kerbol system. It must have: The super-advanced orbital scanner A Communotron 88-88 Two Gigantor XL Solar Arrays These probes will scan every body in the Kerbol system for valuable resources. Obviously, you don't scan Jool and Kerbol, but put probes into a "scanning" orbit anyway.

5 months later... Transmission #55302 Origin: KSC Destination: Duna Adventure transmission.begin(). DeepFreeze.cryounit("thaw", ). DeepFreeze.cryounit("thaw", ). DeepFreeze.cryounit("thaw", ). DeepFreeze.cryounit("thaw", ). autopilot.disengage(). transmission.end(). --- "KSC, this is Jeb. What's our trajectory?" "Your trajectory is go for aerobraking. Periapsis is 10 km. Apoapsis after aerobraking is 250 km." "Roger that, KSC, we are pointing retrograde. Atmospheric entry in T-minus 30 seconds." "Reentry heat building. 5KG's. Everybody OK back there?" :0.0: "We are through aerobraking. Setting up the maneuver node to circularize our orbit." - - - Updated - - - Jeb's callsign is . Val's callsign is . Bill's callsign is . Bob's callsign is .

The probability of your vessel randomly exploding is given by P_ve, and is equal to: P_ve = max(100, (1/(N(mods) X (1/N(Fps)))) X N(part))Percent N(Fps) is equal to the number of frames per second

"KSC, Learstar, booster burnout." "Learstar, KSC, you are go for booster sep." "KSC, Learstar, booster sep." -- 2 minutes later -- "KSC, Learstar, we have MECO." "Learstar, KSC, you are go for ET sep." "KSC, Learstar, ET sep." Soon, the Learstar A1 was in orbit and approaching the Duna Adventure. It was now 150 meters out. On the IVA computer display: Raster Prop Monitor: Bootup: 300/512KB loaded. Raster Prop Monitor: Bootup: Complete ©2015 Junk Systems Incorporated DPAI: Bootup: 150/300KB loaded. DPAI: Bootup: Complete ©2015 NavyFish "Learstar, KSC, you are go for docking. Over." "Copy that, KSC, beginning docking procedure. Over." "5 meters... 4... 3... 2... 1... Hard dock!" -- After some systems checks -- "Ok, gang, we're going to have to go through the emergency airlock. All the other airlocks are electronically controlled, and we haven't brought the power online yet." The crew's faces: (Jeb) (Val) (Bill) (Bob) "Ok, we're inside, I'm turning on emergency batteries now." After the emergency batteries were on, Bill, who was an expert in all things engineering, including computer engineering, went to the Duna Adventure's main kOS terminal. "Let's see: RCS off., SAS on., panels on. Jeb, I have extended the solar panels, we should be getting some more power. Oh yeah: Centrifuge:actions:inflate. Centrifuge:actions:spin. Centrifuge:actions:setSpin:3rpm. Jeb, the centrifuge should be at 1KG now." Soon, the crew was in the DeepFreeze Continued™ cryosleep unit. "Ok, KSC, I have switched to autopilot control. We will be going into cryosleep in one minute." "Roger that, Jeb. We'll see you in five months. Over and out, for now." -- To Be Continued --

The day is 1.0.4:10/24/004. The location: Administration Building, KSC, Klaatu, Kerbin. The top officials in KSP have gathered together to discuss the next giant leap for Kerbalkind: a Kerbaled mission to Duna. "First of all, I would like to thank you all for coming here to discuss the proposed Duna mission," began KAL Kerman. After some boring opening remarks, KAL turned the time over to the KSP board members to discuss the Duna mission. Mission Plan: Gene: "I think that we should go for a mothership assembled in Kerbin orbit and supplies delivered beforehand. There's no way we could build a single rocket with all the stuff needed." Werner: "Zat sounds reasonable." Rocket: Werner: "We should use ze new KLS for ze mozership part delivery and supply launches. It is very powerful." Jeb: "I agree, but I would like to suggest one slight design change for the KLS." Werner: "And what would zat be?" Jeb: "Moar Boosters!" Werner: "We could do zat." - - - Updated - - - The mighty KLS rolled out to the Launchpad on a crawler. Slowly, it rolled into place and began preflight checks. "This is Kerburry Kerman, KNN reporter, and what you all are looking at is the KLS rocket, about to launch the launchpad EL has donated to the KSC for the Duna mission. It will build the base components and Kerbin Return Vehicle on-site." "MechJeb, this is KSC, you are go for launch." "Roger, KSC, all systems nominal." "10...9...8...7...6..." "Kerburry here, we're on final countdown..." "5...4...Main Engine Start..." "Kerburry, reporting main engine start..." "3...2...1...Booster Ignition!" "It's lifted off, folks!" "Kerbal News Network, witnessing the launch of the KLS. Now, on our next story..." Soon, the Rocketparts deliveries had lifted off, too. 5 months later... "KSC, this is MechJeb. Trajectory checks out from here. Over." "Roger, MechJeb. Trajectory looks good here, too. You are go for EDL. Over" "Roger, KSC, atmospheric entry in T-minus 1 minute. Over and out." Soon, all the supply modules had landed and the mothership, Duna Adventure, had been constructed in Kerbin orbit. - - - Updated - - - The crew of Duna 1 has been announced: Commander: Jebediah Kerman Pilot: Valentina Kerman Lead Engineer: Bill Kerman Lead Scientist: Bob Kerman Jeb woke up, tired, at his room in the Astronaut Complex, to his KPhone ringing "Dah Duh Dah Duh Duh Duh Dee Duh Doo Duh Duh Duh Dee Duh Doo..." "Jeb Kerman here, what is it?" "Jeb, have you heard the great news?" "Val? Is that you? What news?" "You've just been announced as the commander of Duna 1, and me, Bill, and Bob are your crewmates!" Jeb sat up, instantly alert. "Really? That's awesome!" Jeb ran to the Launchpad, almost forgetting to change into his spacesuit instead of his PJs. "Come on in, it won't bite," said Jeb, laughing, when he saw Bob, reluctant to go into a rocket he'd never been in before. "The Learstar A1's a beauty. She's almost exploded on me more than times than I can count!" "That's what I was afraid of,†muttered Bob before clambering in. "Learstar, you are go for launch." "KSC, Jeb, commander's voice check. Over." "Jeb, KSC, we copy, over." "KSC, Val, pilot's voice check. Over." "Val, KSC, we copy, over." "KSC, Bill, engineer's voice check. Over." "Bill, KSC, we copy, over." "KSC, Bob, scientist's voice check. Over." "Bob, KSC, we copy, over." "Jeb here. Are we go?" "Hang on, let me check with Gene... All systems go." "10...9...8..." "Skip the countdown, already. Let's burn this candle! Val, punch it!" "Yes, sir! :D" The Learstar A1 shot up on a column of flame. "G-Forces at 2KG's... 3KG's... Jeb, I'm worried. What do you think?" "YEE-HAW!" "Never mind."

Calculating tidal forces (Interstellar)
KAL 9000 replied to SpaceXray's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Well, it seems reasonable to assume that Miller's Planet has (roughly) the same density as Earth. So, to find the radius of the planet, we would find the square root of (1.3 X Earth's volume) divided by 4/3pi. You could calculate the mass from that and the surface gravity. -
Me neither I'm aspie.

Spiritwolf/Hanland Submissions
KAL 9000 replied to Chozo Nomad's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Go Spiritwolf! By the way, can I help name SkDD-26, SkDD-27, SkDD-28, SkDD-29, and SkDD-30? -
We have no idea what Eve's oceans are made of. It would have to be a liquid with a melting point is greater than 150 degrees Centigrade. - - - Updated - - - Have you considered Laythe?

How would you do this in Kerbal?
-
The documentary is scientifically sound.:rolleyes:Personally, I wouldn't try to sabotage the project, as long as the genetic maniacs :huh:wouldn't pick who got to go. We should randomly select the crew, excluding anyone who would be a danger to the rest of the crew (example: psychos). We'd also need a crew (scientists, engineers, pilots, etc). As for life support, we know a self-sustaining ecosystem is possible, because isn't Earth a giant self-sustaining ecosystem?

What's the modifier key for Macs? I'm not sure

I'm a Kerbal newbie (about 1/100 as awesome as Jeb) and would like some general advice. Thanks!
