  1. No, because it's supposed to be (1/N(parts))/(1/N(mods)), which would be a fraction divided by a fraction, which usually a large number. Note: If you are using stock, N(mods) is 0, so it's 1/infinity, which is basically 0. Note: N(mods) if using CKAN is 1, because of CKAN's stability. This is a probability of your vessel RANDOMLY exploding, not exploding if it's poorly designed (i.e. not enough boosters).
  2. Mission 1: The KSC Munolith The Original Four had been assigned to "Operation Easter-Egg". The first target: the Munolith near the KSC. No rocketry needed, it's only a few kilometers away. They just took a rover. "Uh, Jeb, what are you doing?" asked Bob, while Jeb was pulling out his kPhone. "Selfie!" said Jeb as he snapped a picture of him and the Munolith. "Bill, grab my field microscope...Amazing! There are no irregularities, even at the 'Really, Really Tiny' setting!" Bob pulled out an analyzer. "It says, 'Composition: Unknown'. Hang on, let me recalibrate it, OK. Now it's saying, 'Composition: 100% Unobtainium'. And now it's starting to smoke... I'm throwing it as far away as possible, it's getting really hot!"
  3. Only recently, the Kerbals discovered the anomalies. Why are they there? How did they get there? Who/What made them? Will Jeb eat all the cheese as usual? These are the questions that the Kerbals now seek answers to... Stay tuned!
  4. Just finished both Shadows and Whispers (where it's at so far). One thing to say: Poor Billy and his sister! I got really attatched to him. :sobbing:
  5. Kilo Echo Romeo Bravo Alpha Lima Space Sierra Papa Alpha Charlie Echo Space Papa Romeo Oscar Golf Romeo Alpha Mike is Kerbal Space Program in pilot!
  6. Mission Log: KSS Explorer: Year 100, Day 50 [Chief Engineer Bill]: "All systems go for Polaris orbital insertion... Ignition!" [Commander Jeb]: "Let's burn this candle! [Misquoting Alan Kerman]" Polaris orbit achieved, the Expolrer cruised to Ryla, the gas giant which Cite orbited. It achieved orbit around Ryla, and then Cite. "All right, team, we have to land and make sure that's the right spot!"
  7. The ExoKerbol core drill found life! It was just cyanobacteria, but still! Advance Probe 1's detectors found no pathogens that future colonists would have to worry about. It had landed in a perfect spot!
  8. [kOS]: Focus on the mission, MechJeb. [MechJeb]: Sorry. [System]: Deploying CRSS-01 in 3...2...1... A decoupler fired, and CRSS-01 (Cite Resource Scanning Sattelite-01) was away. CRSS-01 is just an OKTO with Kethane, Ore, and MetalOre detectors and OX-6L solar panels and a Communotron 16 strapped to it. [CRSS-01]: Deploying solar panels... Activating detectors... Extending Communotron 16. [CRSS-01]:[Communotron 16]: Transmitting resource data. Meanwhile... Advance Probe 1 pointed retrograde and fired its engine until it was on a suborbital trajectory. The engine stage decoupled, revealing a heat shield and parachutes. It entered Cite's atmosphere and activated its KerbPro. The KerbPro recorded images of reentry plasma as Advance Probe 1 flew down. Once it was under 250 m/s, the parachutes popped open, slowing it down to 4 m/s. It made a safe touchdown and re-extended its solar panels and its antenna. Once all the data from both crafts had been sent to the Explorer, the Kerbals were ecstatic! Advance Probe 1 had landed in a flat area of Cite near water, perfect for a colony. The Explorer asked it to use its DMagic ExoKerbol core drill.
  9. Von Nuemann machines are cosmic vandalism, but still, they're worth discussing.
  10. Mission Log: Advance Probe 1: Year 10, 213 [System]: Main engine ignition... Polar orbit around Cite achieved. Main engine shutdown. [System]: Releasing camera covers... [MechJeb]: Wow that's beautiful. Almost as beautiful as Kerbin used to be...
  11. It's not done, remember? The Kerbals have to make it to their new home. Why do they need snacks in cryosleep?
  12. Kraken be praised! B9 is finally 1.0 compatible!
  13. I am now working on a craft to transfer the parts to Laythe. It's called the KSS Pride of Kerbin. Make sure you can put a Clamp-O-Tron Sr. on your crafts so they can dock with it.
  14. Actually, I'm HAL's Kerbal alter ego who doesn't turn evil.
  15. Don't sweat it, I made a landing system craft, too! Please use only the above mods. Thanks!
  16. 1) If it's an MKS module, just use the appropriate MKS base with those amazing crew tubes (the KAS ones). If not, I will post the .craft subassembly file soon (2.5m size). It's basically just a large reaction wheel with landing legs and ladders strapped to it. No docking ports, because I'll be using KAS pipe end points and MKS KAS Crew tubes. 2) I have a lifter, just make sure Rockomax Brand Decouplers can attach on the top and bottom. 3) Once a module is safely on Laythe and connected to the colony, I will ask for another. Right now, we need a long-range rover to scout out a site and supply modules to drop down beforehand. Don't worry, with all these brilliant people on the forums, the modules will be awesome and we can come up with solutions to problems as they come up.
  17. Mission Log: Advance Probe 1: Year 1, Day 1; KSS Explorer, Year 85, Day 347 Advance Probe 1 was released from the Explorer's Orbital Construction Dock. It slowly backed away from the ship using RCS, and then made a few course corrections to arrive at Polaris sooner than the Explorer. It then went into sleep mode. Mission Log: Advance Probe 1: Year 10, Day 138 [System]: Exiting sleep mode... [System]: Unlocking batteries... [System]: Booting up MechJeb unit... [MechJeb]: Hello! [System]: Extending Communotron 88-88... [Communotron 88-88]: Activating Beacon... [System]: Activating Star Tracker... [Star Tracker]: Kerbol lock. Polaris lock. Eravate lock. Attitude found. [System]: Engaging reaction wheels and SAS... [System]: Extending solar panels... [System]: Engaging kOS unit... [Communotron 88-88]: Explorer, Advance Probe 1. Do you copy? [Communotron 88-88]: [Response]: --static-- [Communotron 88-88]: Explorer, Advance Probe 1. Do you copy? [Communotron 88-88]: [Response]: We copy. Begin investigation. [System]: Entering Polaris' SOI soon... [System]: Pressing F5...
  18. Mission Log: KSS Explorer: Year 75: Day 123 The Destruction of Kerbin The entire crew was awakened, and they gathered at the bridge. The neutron star was about to destroy Kerbin. "Main telescope targeting Kerbin. Applying appropriate zoom." "Onscreen," said Jeb, remembering an old movie. There was Kerbin, in all its beauty, the Mun and Minmus also looking beautiful. The neutron star approached menacingly. Huge Kerbinquakes and volcanoes rumbled the ground, as tidal forces stretched Kerbin almost to its breaking point, and fire was visible everywhere. Finally, Kerbin passed inside the neutron star's Roche limit, and tidal forces destroyed it, the Mun, and Minmus. Any life left behind had died. The Kerbals on the ship were reduced to tears.
