  1. Haven't you posted a picture earlier with solar panels and abnormaly high DC consuption? May be it is the same.
  2. Oh I think I really did misunderstand that. Thank you for pointing out. Thought it was about microwave power and thermal receiver. But would a tiny transmitter put a 100% load on reactor? Since it will take only fraction of power from generator.
  3. Yes, I could do with better reactors or use microwave transmitters for better efficiency but that's not the point. The point is that upgraded MSR can give enough thrust for a cumbersome mun lander with quite a reserve of delta V to hop around the Mun doing field science contracts and other silly things. The drawback of MSR powered lander is that is very heavy and once put to maximum output should produce lots of extraheat that I have to deal with. But it is just spools up and goes down at any change of thrust. That doesnt make any sense. So the idea is that when i have to land the craft or to hop around to navigation points I put it at max capacity have good thrust reaction time (low TWR though) but have to be aware of the heat that builds up. When I finished with maneuvrers I put MSR back to resting state to cool down. Indeed there might be higher reactor fuel consuption, but that will be enough for tens if not hundreds of missions. Again I dont want to use more efficient technologies yet. I'm trying to slowly build up infrastructure and slowly progress to more advanced technologies. P.S. I changed in cfg file the a "speed" parameter of MSR that decreased the spool up time, MSR + Thermal Nozzle is just like big Nerv engine now, not really what I wanted. But thank you very much for your input.
  4. @FreeThinker Sorry for bothering, but the question remains is it possible to make Malten Salt Generator to produce maximum heat when it is power is not consumed by anything?
  5. Well, I did make a microwave network for take offs from Kerbin with termal nozzle. But the design seems as an overkill a huge malten salt reactor at the KSC a couple more of the same size around kerbin and a a stack of reacors at the 850 km orbit with relays to get energy from everywhere. But I'm not sure I've done it efficiently. I do not know exactly how the relay/ transmition should be properly configured so I just put the largest foldable transmitters and that seems to work. In the end I dont feel that this thing is how it should be. I've spent several a couple of days VAB and using Hyperedit to check out if these things function at all and that eats away the interest, seems like you are cheating or something. To the point with MSR, the idea was to get the engine working with that reactor as the first step to more efficient though cumbersome engines. And it makes no sense for me that a reactor tries to adjust to every change of thrust and cant just keep at maximum. I mean its job is to produce as much heat as it can and it should not care is it used at all or not.
  6. I tried to use thermal nozzle and upgraded malten salt reactor for a Mun lander but the problem is that thrust control is too sluggish because reactor takes time to raise the temp inside when the thrust is increased and cool down when thrust is lowered. It seems that reactor only heats up when the power is used for something. Is it possible to make malten salt to keep max temperature for the time I need to maneuvre? . I tried to attach thermoelectric generetor but it was of no use.
  7. Hello! Please help is needed. I am trying to build up a microwave relay network, and still cant quite get the principles of it. I've seen the videos on youtube but they are either outdated or people there just show the complete satellite without explaining how it should be configured or what each part shoud be doing on that setup (transmitting, relaying, receiving etc). And wiki is not informative or just I am too stupid. So the questions are: 1. What setup should a generic relay satellite have? (How many and what dishes). 2 .How should they be configured, so they are working with each other? If there is any up to date guide or video or your own relay network that would be nice. I stress again I need the very basic satellite setup with the first parts researched in career. I have several ground power stations on Kerbin and one 6gw at LKO and I managed to get Rockets into orbit with mk1 inline receivers. But when it comes to building up relays I get lost. I'm using MKS and KSPI as my core mods and after certain point game goes exponentially more complex. P.S. A question regarding thermal nozzle rocket engine. I've noticed it acting strangely. I use it to get a 80 ton payload into orbit and then send to the Mun in one stage. After Mun transfer maneuver is complete I decouple the first stage and there is plenty delta V left for it to return. When I start the braking turn the engine suddenly stops after several seconds of burning. There is still plenty of fuel it gets power from satellites, but it generates zero thrust. Switching back to KSC and back to that engine makes it work again as normal again. It happens most of the time after I decouple from the main pay load. What could be the cause of it? Thanks in advance!
  8. Hello everyone! I've been playing KSP since 1.0 release and recently tried KSPI-E. Great work for keeping it alive. It seem a bit complicated, but challenging. A bit of background info. I am not experienced KSP player. For the most part I used KSPI-E for reactors and i had like 5 or 6 career restarts and I have not gone further Kerbin system. Yesterday I've built my first reusable thermal rocket science vessel that actually has thrust and over 8k of delta-v and is capable of moving and even landing. Compared to the ship with the same mass which uses LFO it is a huge upgrade. The amount of fuels that can be used is huge. So I wondered where I get them. I have UKS, Karbonite but these mods give me LFO, water and LH2. But I cannot make KSPI-E ISRUs to make working. The GUI window is there but I have no idea how it should operate. Is there any comprehensible guide that is up to date about KSPI-E ISRU? Other questions: compatibility with Near Future Electrics and SETI. When I install eitehr one of them or both, the power of KSPI reactors goes down like 10 or 100 times from 80 MW to 163 KW. Do they actually work together? Is Open Resource System is required? It is listed as dependancy but seems so out of date... Thank you in advance.
