Old school punk... loved these guys -
First time I saw it I thought Mothra (in the caterpillar stage). You youngsters can google it.

Seriously, when the company I worked for moved from drafting tables with parallel bars to CAD, we were the pioneers in our industry. IBM set us up with 3 AIX stations (UNIX) networked together. They shared a common 70Mb hard drive. (yes you read that correctly - 70 megabytes). We were told that was all we would ever need. We believed them. We quickly learned each of us had a 20 Mb drive on our private station. The stations came with multiple volume manuals that ran the length of a 6ft table top. I'm the only one that ever read them, so guess who got to troubleshoot the system? Crazy as it sounds, our setup gave us about a few year lead on the competition.

Your creepiest/loneliest KSP moments!
Red Shirt replied to Ultimate Steve's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Ooooh pretty. Must go. As for me, I have to agree the creepiest moment was one of the poles on Mun. Don't recall which. Anyway, I always forget lights on my landers and descending into the steep seemingly bottomless pit in the dark had me feeling the creepies. Survived. Planted flag and made it home safe. Yeah Team Red Shirt. -
totm aug 2023 What funny/interesting thing happened in your life today?
Red Shirt replied to Ultimate Steve's topic in The Lounge
Today I searched the internet for a Kerbal T-Shirt that was not lame, over-designed, or graphically humongous (a personal pet peeve). In the process I found a KSP bikini pantie. My wife did not find them interesting. Seriously? -
Indiana used to be the same. Gotta love politicians fixing stuff that ain't broke. Also bugs me that we are on New York time (Eastern) when Chicago time (Central) makes more sense.

Spent the day watching season two of The Expanse. I know, I lead an exciting life but I enjoyed it. -
It gets better. Many of us have been there. What kind of guitar do you have and how long have you been playing?

Looks like it was just me making the connection:

"Mom. Mom. Mommy. Mom." I laughed out loud.

My short Google search didn't show anything after the initial Russian report in 2014. I'll try again. .... do they intentionally throw stuff of the station? That doesn't seem like a good idea.

Yes, I mistyped should be 100,000 ft. Beside the point, from what I am seeing I am correct to be skeptical. Were there any further statements made about the claim of microbes on the outside of the ISS and their origin, post the original comments 2014? Were they confirmed as organic?

I am neither qualified or well versed enough to be posting here but that's not going to stop me. So, I'm watching Expedition Unknown and one segment had a balloon launched to near space (100,00 ft). an experiment package took a sample and was later analyzed for signs of life. Of course they might have found some. The claim was made that life cannot get that high in the atmosphere on its own. Therefore any life found must have come from out there. My mind immediately starts debunking this claim. The balloon that carried the package probably was crawling with microbes even if the experiment was shielded. It could also come from one of the many objects we mere mortals have lobbed into space. Maybe even volcanic eruptions or some other natural occurring though rare event. Point being there seems to be too many assumptions in what was being stated in the segment. I felt this way a few years ago when it was claimed there was algae on the exterior of the ISS windows. Someone clue me in here.

My favorite part of the last few pages has been that the USA has not been mentioned or blamed for anything. We thank you.

Oh look, I can see your house! I was born and live in fly over 'Merica, right down the street from @Kevin Kyle, Shhh don't tell him. Never traveled. I'm learning from forums that most people are pretty much just people. We do somethings differently but when we accept each other anyway, and keep politics out of it, the world is pretty small.

I've been using this mod for a while now. I don't claim to comprehend how KerbalKonstruct works. Am I not doing something correctly? Clicking on the lights does nothing, although they appear to always be on. They do not actually light up the launchpad. Purely eye candy. Is this normal behavior?

I picture it much like the shooter games my sons tried to teach me. They would shoot me. Run to where they knew my character would regenerate. Then shoot me in the head again. Yeah, I suppose it was fun for them.

First time I landed on Eve, back in KSP 0.23, I had no idea leaving would be so difficult. Actually, during landing, gravity crushed the landing legs and caused engines to break off. I tried one unmanned rescue that landed successfully but could not make orbit. So, technically, I guess I didn't leave them to rot. Also, there is no entry for ran out of fuel, still circling in the depths of space forever. When I realize the utter hopelessness of such missions, self destruct becomes an option.

I'm a peace loving guy, but every time I hear that I want to reach through the phone and pound the slob on the other end. Exactly what an on site tech told me on one visit My son has this. It costs him twice what I'm paying (and I pay at least twice what cable charges around here), however he has unlimited data and a gaming connection. You don't online game with satellite.
-
I feel your pain. Cable internet is a half mile away. They tell us there are not enough potential customers on our road to justify coming our way. Our phone lines will not support DSL - dial up only - they have zero plans of ever upgrading, so no one on our road even has a land line any more. Satellite internet is slow and glitchy but it is the best we can do without going completely broke. 10GB sounded like a lot. It isn't.
