  1. Parts of song was played all though X-Files episode this week. I miss the lone gun men.
  2. And that's why I love this community. Dropped the small tank and went back to just the FL-T800. Used a fairing to cover the control parts. Launched straight to orbit with over 200 dv to spare. Who would have thought there would be that much drag simply stepping down to 0.625 between the nose cone and the tank. I had no idea.
  3. That's what I thought. Even without adding the small tank I thought it should make it to orbit. More info: The engine is the Valiant V-15 from the Squad release of the Porkjet parts. It has been a much used engine in my missions.
  4. I've tried several different methods. Turning slightly nearly immediately after launch thru old school go high and turn. Fall short by abt 300 dv
  5. Background - I was half watching something on SCI this morning. There was a shot of a missile fired off a submarine. What really caught my attention was thinking, look its a FL-T800. So that got me wondering can I get a single FL-T800 to orbit. I couldn't. So I added a small tank (FL-T200). Everything to my limited knowledge says it should make it but I can't do it. Tried various nosecones and ascent patterns. What am I missing? Edit: I should add I have an Octo2, small reaction wheel, and battery all tucked in under the nosecone.
  6. Yeah glad I missed it. The clip was kind of a mix of Scooby Doo and Land of the Lost and neither in a good way. As for Twilight - that's because you aren't a 13 year old girl. Edit: Luke's landing though was very Kerbal.
  7. Never heard of this one... and somehow I don't feel cheated.
  8. Still can't include VIII... IV, Rogue One, VII, V, VI / III (tie), I, II I seriously recall nothing worthwhile about II. III has my favorite quote, "So this is how liberty dies, to thunderous applause." No matter how bad (or good) VIII turns out to be, it has to be miles above nearly all the Star Trek movies.
  9. Not a good day. Reworked the mother ship for another shot at Moho. Fought my way to a circular orbit. The lander set down on a hillside so steep it still boggles my mind that it didn't tip or slide. Returned to orbit. Rendezvoused. Attempted to dock. Attempted because I used a decoupler instead of a separator. Access to the docking port denied. Started to spacewalk. That's when I realized I forgot a probecore and the hitchhiker can I intended to use for return doesn't work as a pod. And to top it off no pictures. Revert.
  10. My Enterprise had a TWR of 0.57 and abt 2700 dv. Mostly its purpose was to allow me to live out a childhood fantasy. If you need more TWR or dv maybe you can figure out how to incorporate one of the warp drive mods. I couldn't. The other option is to accept the Enterprise uses technology you don't have so using infinite fuel (F12) is as close to dilithium crystals as your likely to get.
  11. -6°F here. Not supposed to see above freezing until maybe Sunday.
  12. Read a few pages of reviews on RT. Seems they either really enjoyed the movie or, like here, had major issues with the movie. So I started polling folks locally that have seen it. They unanimously loved it. When I asked about the controversy they had a deer in the headlight look, meaning they had no idea. One of my friends who actually was aware of the reviews told me he goes to escape and he is not enough of a fanboy to let the problems stop him from enjoying. I still haven't seen it so it remains to be seen which side of the fence I'll land.
  13. You need TU and then add cfg's from Electrocuter.
  14. Christmas 2013 - my son buys me Kerbal Space Program. I worked through failure after failure to get to space. What excitement when I finally made orbit. Learned to land on Minmus first because landing on Mun seemed impossible without skills. Moons down, went for Duna. Took a few rescue missions to build a ship capable of the return trip. What to do next? Why not go to Moho. I had no idea it was hard. It took many attempts to end up with city sized craft that could manage the mission. All this was done before I ever heard of Dv or TWR. It was all seat of the pants over engineering. Mostly it was fun. Today I threw together a transfer ship and set my 2 stage Apolloish lander on top with a few Moho specific tweaks. The lander performed precisely as planned. Due to a blown transfer to Moho a lot of fuel was wasted getting back on course. This caused an issue later. That's when I noticed I was about to stage my reaction wheels. I ended up bringing the upper stage of the lander back to Kerbin as I needed its RCS and SAS. While much more thought out and designed than my first time around, there is definitely need for changes. Mostly it is still fun.
  15. I've never seen this on Minmus but its probably caused by Kopernicus. A scene change usually fixes it.
  16. Totally agreeing with you. I weakly attempted a poorly executed veiled comment in this general direction. Not wishing to be banned from another forum (I had my moments in my younger days) I chose a more silent approach. Really? I need to pull TFA and watch again. If this is accurate, I abandon my position. I knew Rey had a brief moment of getting used to the controls but if this was her first time flying, then yeah major disappointment with the corporate decision making process.
  17. I have not seen the movie - yet. Reading through I do have a few thoughts. 40 years ago when ANH came out we were blown away (I was in college - yeah old fart). Visually nothing like it had ever been done. The story was a simple tale of good verses evil. With the exception of Han the lines were pretty well defined like in most classic tales. It set the standard for episode V and VI and the prequels. Therein is the problem. Episode I may have made sense as back story but it was just plain bad. II was completely throw away. Revenge of the Sith I hate to admit is my favorite of the prequels. The whole duel through the lava is beyond inexcusable but the transitional story arc from Anakin to Vader comes together in this one, so I give it a pass. Then a generation later Disney gains possession. With it come changes. The universe is no longer just black and white. No longer are people simply good or evil. It's all becoming shades of gray. I think this mirrors the present feelings of our society. In addition, from what I'm reading here, it seems humanism is replacing the force. We no longer need an ancient religion. We are, or can become, our own solution. Again a reflection of current society. In TFA, Rey starts as a simple character trying to survive. Before movie's end she becomes powerful but is untrained. Typical Disney princess character? Wait, doesn't this also match Luke at some point? Now in TLJ the source of her power has become a problem with many. Maybe Kylo lied. Maybe she does have a background that will be revealed in IX. Maybe not. Maybe Disney wants to cash in on the super hero movies and Rey will get a cape in the next movie. Maybe just maybe she is the final fulfillment of the prophecy. That to me would still require a Skywalker lineage. I personally hope Disney isn't taking this the Dark Crystal route. It's been done... and it's stupid.
  18. Link or still just an idea? By the way, the problem @selfish_meme is having with propellers, I have seen with chutes. It's like landing with a giant ice cream cone.
  19. @sarbian, I've noticed a landing issue that you can easily duplicate with the AeroEquus or any stock craft I think. Once in orbit, I normally use 80k, using all default settings set KSC as landing site. Ship warps to burn point, burns, oscillates a few times for dv correction, Then once in atmosphere fires up engine in retro position and never shuts down. Ship lands far to the west of intended landing location. Admittedly I may be missing selecting some alternate setting but I don't know what. As an aside, normally for a USA type landing the engine and tank would be decoupled once return burn is complete but doing so results in substantially missing landing zone. Is there a way to compensate?
  20. Testing out a Duna lander in the style of the Lunar landing module: With chutes it takes very little to safely land on Duna - less than 400 dv, some landings half that. A two stage lander creates an interesting design issue that I haven't figured out how to get around yet: Launching using the ascent stage causes a big fireball as the staging decoupler explodes... but wait: The lander is still intact... although someone who was in a hurry to take pictures forgot to raise the ladder, d'oh. It's all good, made it to orbit.
  21. ding dong ding dong.... It's the most wonderful time of the year.... ding dong ding dong Please make it stop!
  22. Here's what I love - you list stock as pass 0. Then list it as old, working on redo. You folks that know what you are doing keep commenting on what a mess are the stock textures. I'll take your work for it. What I know is how alive my screen looks now with all stock parts running your old pass 0 cfg. Great work!
  23. My work around: The hope of a better solution: Yes Please!
