  1. Thanks guys. Now I just have to figure out how to set up and land some USI parts to set up a kolony. I don't have life support on at this point as it'd be too challenging.
  2. So, connector port to the mining/refining bit, then a connector port on the ferry? I can disconnect the port after they've been hooked up?
  3. The first step of my goal to kolonizing Minmus and creating a launching platform to explore the solar system is to get stable mining operations. I've already figured that that using ore or Karbonite it is not at all efficient to refine in orbit. So I'd have to refine on Minmus and ferry the fuel to orbit. The only thing is I'm bad at designing stuff for settlements that I can land and dock easily. Was looking for ideas to play with.
  4. So it's all or nothing, huh? I'd have to increase all resources by a factor of 5 to get the water I want on Minmus.
  5. Yeah I know it's "cheating" but I'm playing in sandbox so screw it. Just want to add a BIT more water to Minmus - my last save I had 5% and quite a few patches, in this save I got 0.9% and no patches. There's got to be someway to edit this, since it's different in every save. Thanks.

  7. Yeah, maneuverability will be an issue. When I put a power core/fuel/engines that COM and COT was all in the back. Maybe I could put maneuvering thrusters in the front? With the COM in the back I don't think the landers and small shuttles will be an issue. I was thinking of a way I could return the ship to Kerbin, pick up MKS pods, and land them on, say, Duna. But I have no idea how to deliver MKS pods yet.
  8. It's a kolony ship designed to stay permanently in space, exploring the system and resupplying from moons.

Things that will still be needed: An ore processing hub (for making more fuel), a hub for launching and retrieving "scansats", liquid fuel tanks, nuclear propulsion engine cluster, a nuclear power hub (to cut down on part count re: solar panels), communications arrays, landers, mining ferry, shuttles.
  11. I've begun designing the Ambitious in VAB. Current plan is to design the entire craft, and then build it in space at an orbital shipyard (because I realize my docking skills are too crap to do 20 launches and perfectly dock everything).   13. I guess I could split it into 3-4 smaller platforms and keep them far apart.
  14. The purpose of Ambitious is pretty straightforward: To explore other planets, particularly the moons, without the need to launch an entire rocket and it's payload each time. Instead, Kolony segments will be shuttled into space and docked together. Once the station is complete, the landers, scansats, shuttles, and krew will be sent up and Ambitious will launch. Also on the table is the potential to deploy Kolony modules on a planet ahead of Kolonists, who will arrive 1-2y later from Kerbin. This is a pretty ambitious project for me. Originally I wanted to put a Kolony on Minmus, but I'm having some trouble with that (using USI). I've had space stations before so I figured this would be the same thing, but bigger and more self-sufficient. There are however challenges I'll need to have satellites that can go out, scan the planet, and come back and dock (because why put the scanner on the Kolony when I can make things harder by adding steps?). I'll also need multiple mobile drilling platforms (for different resources) that can land, mine, take off and return to Ambitious. Ambitious will also need work modules to process all that stuff. So far this Kolony is getting pretty big! The Kolony of course needs to have an array of landers capable of shuttle krew and rovers to the moon's - and back. I also want to do 1 planetary landing. I have no which method of propulsion would be best. I was thinking liquid fuel because I'm having an easier time finding ore than Xenon and such. This is my problem with KSP. I haven't even left the Kerbin SOI yet, or even made my first Kolony, yet here I am 1 month into the game wanting to do this crazy thing. Basically I'm tired of Kerbin and want to take off in a big boat and not come back for like 8y in game. Anyone else do stuff like that? Speaking of which would anyone like to work on this project with me?
  15. Another question! Is the "no fuel crossfeed" component overridden by the "Ship Manifest" mod (the one that allows non-EVA crew transfers between modules)? Sorry to be a pain, just want to be sure before I start committing a lot of time to launches only to have to revert!
  16. Before I build and launch stuff, are the stock docking ports (small and medium Clampotrons) compatible with the small and medium androgynous docking ports of this mod?
  17. This is my mod list. I've been having a LOT of trouble with self-installed mods so I got CKAN - well guess what? I installed FASA and the game started fine! Will let you know how it goes!
  18. Cannot deploy/open fairings after launch. I have full electrical charge.
  19. Game crashes on start up every time, even after applying fixes.
