  1. Cursed are those who dare to touch Pol...
  2. It's been cloudy where I am too, but I'm not too worried. I will make up for it with the conjunction between my boot and Mars.
  3. Whenever I visit Pol, the fifth moon of Jool, I feel something deeply unnerving about the little world. Its folding mountains, spiky surface protrusions, and sickly yellow color all contribute to my feeling that there is something horrendously wrong about being there, almost as if there is an unknown threat at Pol more sinister than rough landings, gravity, and delta-V. I have the distinct feeling that Pol is alive, and somehow aware of my presence. What do you think? Do you feel eyes watching you when you land on Pol? Or do your Kerbals kick the dry, motionless dust about their feet with no regret?
  4. Who would've known that the planet called Earth would be covered in dirt?
  5. I imagine that any ship which has stuff orbiting it is small enough that orbital speed is low, and objects moving at centimeters or meters per second would be orbital. Unless we're talking moon-sized battle stations...Just a little mention of 'bringing the shields up' for the smaller pieces would be the most that's needed plot-wise. Probably a ship that was destroyed a long time ago should not have any debris around it at all, because all of it should have drifted thousands or millions of kilometers apart under negligible influence from ship's own gravity.
  6. I think plenty of uncrewed missions to Mars are possible within two or four years with Starship, but I don't think anybody's going to Mars themselves before 2030 with better than a 50% chance of surviving. There is much that is unknown about entering the atmosphere at Mars and returning to Earth, and we still have yet to see how the Starship handles that. Luckily the Starship will be able to fly with great frequency and we'll quickly be able to learn how to make the arrival at Mars and the whole stay safe. The Moon is quite reachable, and we can absolutely start sending people there and building bases fairly soon. The Moon is a good place to test water mining systems (which has never been attempted on another planet) and food growth for sustaining long excursions away from Earth.
  7. We all know what happens when you fly a fuel tank that was dropped...
  8. I'm a student of aerospace engineering. I'd like to be making spaceships some years from now.
  9. They sometimes set Stage 2 on a yawing spin before releasing the payload.
  10. Do you suppose you could make something...alive? Regenerating, healing, while taking in energy and a little bit of food?
  11. Still waiting on my Starship model water bottle.
  12. I have spent three years in class with the express purpose of learning how to make rockets and planes, and have spent three years learning nothing (in class) about how to make rockets and planes.
  13. Based on my experience with experimental rocket engines, I bet it was something to do with timing within the engines.
  14. Snipers no sniping! Snipers no sniping! Snipers no sniping!
  15. I think I see some puffs of gas coming from SN8 now.
