I don't know about the TAC mod, but the Kerbal Attachment System mod will let you run a line between 2 ships in orbit and once they are connected you can transfer resources.

ISON: The zombie comet...
-
Found this HD video of the encounter just now: http://vimeo.com/80568171 Pretty amazing sight, I must say.
-
I love how it looks like the comet is doing a massive power slide coming out from behind the sun...
-
I guess for now all we can do is wait and hope... In the next few days we should know more.
-
Maybe 2 hours of trying to figure it out on my own, the I spent about an hour watching YouTube videos and managed orbit on my first try after that, then in short order was orbiting the mun and learning about free returns. Took me many many more hours to execute a successful mun landing, no idea how long though, but it was weeks of playing. This was all way before the game was integrated into steam, so I really have no idea how many hours I was putting into the game... I do know that I played a lot more before steam than after, and I'm a little over 300 hours showing in steam...

With FAR you don't have to replace the control surfaces. In the hangar open the FAR control panel and on the first tab you can tweak all your control surfaces. You will want to restrict the deflection and which movements are effected by the specific surfaces. For instance take the rudders and restrict them to only control yaw, then take the long control surfaces and lower the deflection and restrict them to roll and pitch. It may take a few trys but you should be able to tweak the setup and get a relatively stable plane.

For Being dead, it sure looks alive in this image: Look at the width of the tail.compared to the diameter of the sun (represented by the white ring in the center)... ISON is dead... Long live ISON!!
-
I will most definitely keep my hopes up. This comet has been unpredictable the entire time it has been being observed, so it is not outside the realm of possibilities that the comet will survive its encounter with the sun and give us an amazing show for Christmas. Heck the guy writing the article you linked even says as much: "BUT... at every single opportunity it can find, comet ISON has done completely the opposite of what we expect, and it certainly wouldn't be out of character for this dynamic object to again do something remarkable. "

I put persistent debris on 0 because my pc has enough trouble keeping track of all the live missions in progress (thanks remote tech), that leaving debris around shortly brings my machine to its knees.
-
Never abandon kerbals. Do not allow kerbals to respawn. No quicksave or alt-f4 reverting. Play with mods that increase the challenge (currenty using TAC life support, deadly reentry, and remote tech 2).

Science in career mode?
gtmattz replied to hendenburg2's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
What I ended up with for a good leg up in a new career was for the first mission plop a bare pod on the launch pad, do a crew report, Eva and get an Eva report with Jeb on the ladder (counts as 'flying'), right click pod and store data, jump off ladder and get Eva report and surface sample, store that, then run down to the grass and get a sample and Eva report and the board pod and recover. This first mission gets enough science to open a couple nodes. Now with your decouplers you can make a ship capable of a visit to the mun. I like to set up a free return that takes the craft to within 40km of the mun or so, so that I can get Eva reports from high and low orbits. For this ship I like to bring 4 goo pods mounted horizontally around the bottom of the pod so that I can get goo samples from high and low orbit on kerbin and the mun as well. After the 2nd mission you shoul be able to unlock solar panels and betterys which pretty much puts the entire solar system within reach. -
All better now! Guess it was a bad idea to let Jeb have access to the mod control panel eh? ;P
-
Methinks a mod pushed the wrong button.... Is Jeb the new q&a moderator?
-
I just went to reply to a question and noticed the topic was locked... Went back to the topic list for q&a section and every topic is closed....
-
Holy bucket batman.... Having played with FAR installed for a while I cringed a little at the idea of getting that uberbucket into orbit lol...

General Career Mode Questions
gtmattz replied to Lighthawk's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
The current version of mechjeb is incorporated into career mode. I cannot recall which node unlocks the module, but it is quite low on the tree. When first unlocked about all you get is smart a.s.s. orbit info, and vessel stats, then the rest of the features unlock as you progress up the unmanned tech line. Until you get the module unlocked, however, you are stuck with either guesswork, or doing the calculations on your own (you can go into sandbox and check there as well... I just guess myself.) -
RAM Air Intake Stacking - Exploit or no?
gtmattz replied to alex the killa's topic in KSP1 Discussion
If my air-hogging somehow effected your gameplay I would he concerned, however this is a purely single player game, so if you feel that stacking intakes is bad, don't do it. -
How long have you been playing kerbal space program for?
gtmattz replied to FlamingPotatoes's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Started playing version .12, bought game right after .13 came out asI was convinced it was a keeper and figured I would should pay the $10 then instead of waiting and paying more later. Have to say it was the most bang for the buck gaming wise I have ever gotten. -
Minimum number of flights to open tech tree 100%
gtmattz replied to E. F. Kranz's topic in KSP1 Discussion
In the vanilla game... Not enough flights imho... So I went and installed remote tech, life support, and deadly reentry to make things a little more difficult, and interstellar to make the tree bigger. -
Manoeuvre on the ascend node - why takes hours?
gtmattz replied to alkopop79's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I have had decouplers bug on me and do this same thing. Going into the VAB and removing the replacing the part fixed it. I have not, however, been able to purposely replicate the bug, so I have no idea what causes it. -
So go do a find/replace on all of the part files and replace 'solar panel' with 'photovoltaic panel'. OCD satisfied...
-
New career using TAC life support... Did a nice little minmus science trip but had inadequate solar panels and batteries.... So yeah, Jeb's dead, baby...
-
Impressive! I love large scale model rocketry, if I had more disposable income I would definitely be launching my own.

Unnecessary travels to biomes on Kerbin?
gtmattz replied to EasyAce's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
1st mission: pod on launchpad, crew report, Eva report while on ladder then store data, drop off ladder get Eva report and sample from pad, store that, run down to Tue grass and get another Eva report and sample, board and recover. 2nd mission: multi stage rocketwith 2 goo pods... orbit, set up free return mun encounter, gather Eva reports at low and high kerbin orbit and low and high mun orbit, sample goo at low and high mun orbit. Even if you run out of power, since you are on a free return you are coming home no matter what. Goo samples in mun soi for more points. Also make sure to get Eva reports over the various biomes you are over while in the lower orbits. if I am not mistaken this should net enough science to unlock the first solar panel, in 2 missions.
