All the Kerbals are back on the ground, the old station has been "disposed of", so there's no time like the present to get into 0.21, even if it crashes a bit now and then....

Do they get home safe? Watch and see! (I haven't actually watched this one yet, still on vacation with limited internet)

[0.22] ISA MapSat 4.0 Dev Build
Dweller_Benthos replied to Innsewerants's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Missing GUI elements usually mean the mod is installed incorrectly. If you're using the newest dev version, it goes in the game data folder. If you're using the older version, it goes in the parts folder and plugins folder if memory serves. -
[0.22] ISA MapSat 4.0 Dev Build
Dweller_Benthos replied to Innsewerants's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Yeah, but I hardly ever run any parts mods though. Last one I had was the Lazor mod, still need to look that up. Didn't have any problem with it in .20 anyway, don't expect any now either. Strange, though, that adding parts would slow the game that much. I don't know how they are being loaded, but if the game is trying to keep all parts in memory even if the ship you're running doesn't have that many, I can see it causing problems once you start to add mods with a bunch more parts. -
[0.22] ISA MapSat 4.0 Dev Build
Dweller_Benthos replied to Innsewerants's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Just to chime in, having no problems running the dev build on 0.21.1. All I copied over were my old map scan graphic files. I let it create a new hilo and artifacts (there's another one, but I forget it's name) files. Ran a simple text with the dish to scan Kerbin, seems to scan OK, it's overwriting my old map with the new data (I may just delete the old map and let it start fresh so I know when it' 100% done). Need to get a probe out to the Mun and see how that goes, but no slow downs, and I'm running MechJeb, Protractor, Alarm Clock, & Subassembly Loader. Maybe one other, I forget, but no parts mods yet. No memory issues so far. Runs pretty smooth actually. -

[0.22] ISA MapSat 4.0 Dev Build
Dweller_Benthos replied to Innsewerants's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I would think your CSV data for the planets that have changed is now out of date and needs to be deleted. Same goes for any map files as well. I haven't looked at all the planets closely yet, but as far as I've heard, only Kerbin, Mun and Duna have changed. If you leave in CSV and graphic files for the planets that have changed, it should just start overwriting the data that was there with the current data. -
And so there I was... (Tales from the Unexpected)
Dweller_Benthos replied to inigma's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I moved the staging button in the config from spacebar to enter a long time ago. I had the annoying habit of resting my thumb on it and sometimes I would push down a little too hard without realizing. Even using enter, it's still dangerous and I sometimes forget to lock staging. Never hit end flight by accident though, you do have to hit two buttons to do it...... just sayin' - you have to hit escape, hit end flight then hit end flight again - should there be a third button press required? -
Shapeways 3D Printed Jebediah Model [IMAGES]
Dweller_Benthos replied to RocketTurtle's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Yes, shapeways would have the 3D models in their system, no need for the user to have access to them. All they would need is your .craft file I would think. Problem is, looking at the prices of some of the other stuff they do, it would have to be a pretty small printout and that would ruin some of the detail. Maybe in a few years when 3D printing gets to a point where you can print larger sizes at less cost, it will be worth it. -
Shapeways 3D Printed Jebediah Model [IMAGES]
Dweller_Benthos replied to RocketTurtle's topic in KSP1 Discussion
They should really make it so you could upload your .craft files to shapeways and they would print out your rocket design. I might go for that. They have a deal with Minecraft to print out your world designs, they even have a special world viewer tool to select the part you want and send it to them, so I would think it would be pretty trivial for shapeways to print KSP rockets. -
Show off your awesome KSP pictures!

Pretty cool, though I can't "lock" the 3D on all the objects at once. I have to switch from Jeb to the lander, to the background. Not sure how the lazor cams work, but it might get you a better 3D effect if you angle them inwards just a bit. -

Takes the word "screenshot" to a whole new level....... Nice ship though... -
I don't see anything in the log, but if Sapphire is correct, then it's been hidden.

Yeah, it's from the first mission, I found it on the Nasa site, but there's no direct link to the page describing it: http://www.nasa.gov/images/content/531646main_51j-launch_full.jpg But it was from here: http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/shuttle/multimedia/highlights_gallery.html Go to image nine. This is a cool one of Challenger:

Actually I think it might be the first mission: http://orbiterchspacenews.blogspot.com/2011/07/esa-tribute-to-space-shuttle.html

Interesting. I tried the finder code and it works on other things, but doesn't find the boulder, so it's either been removed or renamed. I bet Nova changed it at least partially because of the finder.
-
I still have the old boulder detector that Legal2k wrote a while ago, I'll see if it still works tonight. Thing is, if even just the name has been changed, it won't find it.

I don't know, I sometimes run at 1680x1050 in windowed mode if I want to easily switch out to other programs to do stuff while on a long mission. Other times I run at 1920x1080 full screen and the MJ menu tab is directly on top of the mission/ship information buttons in both instances. GUI scale settings in the game itself might make a difference though. Luckily, enough of the info buttons stick out so that they can be clicked on, but it is a bit annoying. It would be nice if the MJ menu button could be moved up & down on the side of the screen, or heck, popped out to be anywhere on the screen that is convenient.

The "You know you're playing a lot of KSP when..." thread

Or similar, watching a KSP video on youtube and grabbing the mouse to try to rotate the view. -
Ducks don't need satalites but Kerbals need space themed playlist.

Well, it should be obvious, Space Truckin' - Deep Purple http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-w5sE82dKV0 Planet Caravan - Black Sabbath Symptom Of The Universe - Black Sabbath http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlctXgILld4 Aldebaran - FM (the Canadian band, not the UK one) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0DA7tIH_B8 Or practically anything else from FM's Black Noise album. -
[0.22] ISA MapSat 4.0 Dev Build
Dweller_Benthos replied to Innsewerants's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I have launched a craft with 5 map sat dishes on it (one on the main and 4 on small probes) with MechJeb and protractor. I get a bit of FPS lag with it but it's a 400+ part ship. I don't have a lot of other mods installed though, almost no parts mods, so my parts pages are pretty much stock. I suppose having a lot of parts would take up more memory though. I also can switch easily between probes that are actively mapping with no problems. I just click a new probe ship in the map view and use the switch to pop up. No lag, it just goes back to mapping. -
[0.22] ISA MapSat 4.0 Dev Build
Dweller_Benthos replied to Innsewerants's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Really strange that I don't get the issues other people are reporting. My memory usage doesn't go above 2.5 GB no matter what type of ship I have selected. Launching a ship with over 400 parts and 5 map sat probes causes a bit of FPS drag, but that's to be expected, launching the same ship with no map sats (so 5 less parts) causes slightly less FPS drag, but not much. Without a way to tell FPS while in game, it's only a guess anyway. I've never done anything to my artifacts dat file, maybe I should look at it, see what's going on. There must be something system-dependent that is causing the FPS loss and memory issues. FWIW, I'm on a core i7 at 3.5 GHz with 16GB ram on windows 7 (not that total memory means anything to a 32 bit app like KSP) with a nvidia 680 card. As for the Soho images in the sun tab, the author probably thought that was a cool addition, I've never seen a slow down from loading it, and sometimes there are no pictures there or a garbled one, not to mention my internet isn't the fastest either. -

I see the same issue, scanning at 1x leaves large parts blank, scanning at 10x or 50x and there are almost no gaps in the scanned areas. Weird.
