  1. Well played, Sir. Well played. Das pontificated about this - but nothing about rocks or trees locations being hard coded.
  2. Fun fact: everyone's toenails have grown {on average) 4. 8cm since we first anticipated the release of KSP2.
  3. One of the things they talked about is with the collidable scatter is persistence. Scatter generally isn't persistent. Seed sharing wasn't discussed, IIRC. But again - the folks invited to the showing mostly got "game in progress" type answers, and there was a LOT of speculation. You can ignore me... I'm just griping.
  4. I should have taken her there. There is so much I remember from my childhood in the SW - but being a passenger (and a kid) makes it hard to tie it all together.
  5. I went back (today) and looked at the Star Theory-released hype stuff from 2019. To my chagrin I have to admit that MP is one of the planned core features. Despite this - it was pretty obvious back then that solving the issues of time warp and trees (collidable) and pairing scatter between viewers was going to be a problem. There is no proof supporting my inference for believing MP to be the source of delay... But no proof I'm wrong either. That said... We are awfully close to 'end of April' being 6 months away. (Know what rhymes with Hype? Gripe.)
  6. (Not so) Fun Fact: my faulty memory conflated fond memories of Earth Ships (from my time living in the SW) with Acosanti. Wasn't quite what I wanted to showcase to my Architect-interested daughter when I took the fam on the Phx-Sedona-GC loop.
  7. That's a projection, not a legally binding promise, FYI Yeah - best course!
  8. Kind of the point when you get down to it, isn't it? Value is predicated on rarity - and in the beginning, there were a rare few people who wanted to invest in the time and equipment necessary to make an ethereal 'thing' that they could argue over the value of (and agree sufficiently) to create a currency analog. Once sufficient flooded the market, criminals wanted in as a way of possessing a thing of value that could be exchanged with reduced oversight - and then wanted to be able to buy non-illicit products... Meaning the 'currency' gained real currency and investors became interested - which meant speculators went big and got government 'interested' and now the party is no longer fun.
  9. When I watch the 'in-space' flight, prior to SECO - I see little puffs of color (orange flares in the exhaust). I presume this is indication of turbulence or incomplete mixing of the fuels (including oxidizer in this)? Given that it is clearly a successful rocket, would there be any reason for tweaking the combustion chamber based on the little bit flaring we do see?
  10. Mind you - I think there will continue to be transactions (once a cat's out of the bag, and all that) - but as you write, the easy days are likely over
  11. Heh. Once I read that Chinese investors were buying and retrofitting entire defunct coal plants and old factories to make e-coin (choose your flavor) - I knew it was on the way out. (What's the old saw? Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered?) You go from being 'cute' to being competitive... You risk getting stepped on.
  12. Both predators would be fine https://wildlife-damage-management.extension.org/feral-dogs/ Just as coyote have adapted to be human adjacent - these would be successful human adjacent predators competing in the same niche as coyote - but... Moving deeper into the wilds, wolves still remain dominant. The cats (feral) will have a niche as long as they can avoid bobcat in the Northern Hemisphere. They won't be a concern for puma (although, killed if convenient) b/c different niche - but NA bobcat have a crossover.
  13. Grin. I just wanted to point out that National Churro Day, 2023 is not out of the question! (/snark) That said - from the purely speculative standpoint, I don't think CY 2022 will be a thing. Despite the (US) holiday season being incredibly lucrative - its also insanely competitive (least of which is the competition for review space). Publishers know all this. https://www.gamesindustry.biz/when-to-release-your-video-game No one wants to compete with Reskinned Generic Wargame(Tag) 16 with anything quirky or intelligent. ... For various reasons - I think our tea-leaf prognostication pointing to the March/April timeframe are the earliest, best-case scenario for the release... But... It can still be later
  14. Oh, poop! https://www.sciencenews.org/article/humans-animal-husbandry-dung-fuel-fire-syria-stone-age
  15. For those trying to see the scatter effects: this is the higher-fidelity image than the one posted directly into the forum. Once the tweet is opened... click the picture again. @Superfluous J - I'm with you... I did not realize until today that the squiggle was supposed to be a spoon. Thought it was a goof!
  16. I've been around PCs since the days of tape-decks and 8-inch floppies... and never heard that; Cool! Tango Yankee!
  17. Haven't tried to sound out Cyrillic in 3 decades... Is that a rhyming transliteration - or did they translate each individual word and create a Russian acronym? (which is what i said the French should have done back then... Because le cederom is patently absurd)
  18. Speaking of words - I was just reminded of how difficult it is to dig up sources for pre- internet trivia... The acronym "CD-ROM" which stands for 'Compact Disk - Read Only Memory' quickly became part of the lexicon of words people just used. As in CD-ROM was the word, and the long form was the definition. People who knew nothing of what the individual words making up the acronym were or what they meant, knew that when you bought a new computer, you wanted one that worked with CD-ROM. Or had a CD-ROM. (Using the word 'drive' after CD-ROM when talking about computers showed a bit more knowledge...) But most people, the vast majority of people, just picked up the acronym as if it were the word and ran with it. The French did not like it one bit. Having French people, speaking French and spoiling their beautiful language with English (American English) words was offensive... So they needed a French word. Something pure. Something French. Friends, I give you, "le cédérom"
  19. Either they are reeeaaaal confident in the iteration they (hopefully) plan to test soon, or they're simply getting stuff ready for production. Parallel / competing design & iteration seems perhaps aggressive to me given we've not seen SH fly yet and SS is still a very early prototype.
