If we develop repulsorlifts, where would they be used?
Awaras replied to FishInferno's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Let's put it another way then: 1. Enormous energy consumption (well, similar to what it would take to lift the same weight using traditional means) OR a huge violation of the conservation of energy law which would allow stuff like perpetual motion machines. Not very likely... -
No, unfortunately it does not.

Veteran players reminisce: What was your first Munar landing like?
Awaras replied to Tex's topic in KSP1 Discussion
The oldest pic I was able to find... I believe my first Mun lander was very similar. -
Exactly, and if they had the means to decontaminate all of that, they could have done the same in underground habitats or domes of some kind without the need to launch everything into space...
-
And what was stopping them from growing those same blight free crops in, for example, large airtight greenhouses on Earth instead of going to space? Honestly, the thing that bothered me the most for some reason is that half the ship blows away randomly and yet the ship spin is still perfectly centered on the docking port, lol.

New to the 'delta-V' concept
Awaras replied to cephalo's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
And the opposite: If you are (for example) carrying a lander docked to your main craft, once that lander is separated, the main craft will suddenly have a lot more delta-V for the return trip. Yay! -
Iskreno, nikad se nisam mnogo bavio spaceplane-ovima...

[Philosophy] What are you, and where?
Awaras replied to Xannari Ferrows's topic in Science & Spaceflight
This is the same as asking where does computer hardware ends and software begins or where does the candle end and the candle flame begins. The body is physical. The mind is a process, a chemical reaction, an ongoing ordered change in the state of the brain... -

Upgraded Type 6 maybe?

There was a centrifuge module planned for the ISS but they abandoned it because of "cost overruns and scheduling problems in Shuttle assembly flights"

Everyone keeps talking about animals surviving in zero g, but we probably won't be bringing pets into space before long term habitation involving a population larger than a few people becomes a thing. Any long-term space habitation scheme I have seen involves some form of artificial gravity (rotating rings, etc.) because of the harmful effect of microgravity on human health...

After jumping into the system, just approach the edge of the 'no fly zone' around the star at full speed. As soon as the fuel scoop activates cut the speed to zero. Then just keep approaching the star in small bursts of speed until the heat reaches over 90%. Cut speed again and hold there until full.

You can improve on that if you have room for more cargo. There is a loose 'cluster' of rares around 39 tauri and fujin too, all within a few jumps of each other. You can stop by there and fill up on some more rares to sell at the Lave cluster: Momus reach - Tartarus point Hecate - RJH1972 39 Tauri - Porta Fujin - Futen Starport Wolf 1301 - Saunders dive Witchhaul - Hornby Terminal Zeessze - nicollier hanger George Pantazis - zakam platform Altair - solo orbiter

Been playing since Beta 1, and I can honestly say that I have never had a BSOD playing elite. Had some freezes before, but not since gamma. The most severe thing I had since the game came out was dropping to desktop with an error maybe two times and a couple of times getting a message that the connection to server was lost, but never a freeze. It might be something with your computer. Try getting the latest drivers maybe?

Elite is not all that demanding on hardware. If your computer runs KSP decently, it should run Elite as well (not on max settings, of course)...

From wikipedia: Voyager 1 will reach the Oort cloud in about 300 years[77][78] and take about 30,000 years to pass through it.[62][71][72] Though it is not heading towards any particular star, in about 40,000 years, it will pass within 1.6 light years of the star Gliese 445, which is at present in the constellation Camelopardalis.[79] That star is generally moving towards the Solar System at about 119 km/s (430,000 km/h; 270,000 mph).[79] The Voyagers are destinedâ€â€perhaps eternallyâ€â€to wander the Milky Way.

Well, theoretically, with the best engines, full power to thrusters, turbo boost and FAOff, you just might be able to pull off something similar. The entire trailer is not very faithful to the game experience however... Heh, just try shooting your weapons near a station.
