The hype increases Riots begin in our wake 1.1 will come. I'm horrible at counting syllables, so this may or may not be a haiku. -
0/10, no photo This is the Molecular Disruption Device (also known as the "Little Doctor") from Ender's Game. Basically, it creates an expanding area where electrons can't be shared. The more stuff it ruins, the more powerful it becomes. So, it's a planet killer of sorts.

"1.1 is coming" - all those guys on that ice wall. -
I would assume they would take over part of the earth, and then we would do one of 3 things: 1. Nuke it. Nuclear weapons would be able to destroy all grey goo in the immediate area, and/or fry a bunch of them with the resulting electromagnetic pulse. 2. Destroy them with fire. Lots of it. Napalm seems like it would be pretty effective, since you can deploy it out of range of the goo, and it is self-spreading. In addition, it could be used to impede the path of the goo. 3. Use the kill switch any sane and rational engineer or scientist would include in the design.

If we add a quad-phased entrophy inverter with a thermally-induced Theta-field reactor hooked up to it, then it should be sufficiently cooled. By the way, the nuclear-chained energy compression dampener requires something to prevent resonance cascades from shutting down the whole thing's power grid.

We could leave it as it is and just include a tri-dimensional electrostatic dispersal unit, which usually prevents increases in specific outpulse. Of course, that's assuming the Casper-Avery theory of field unification is in fact applicable.

The only problem would be Chekov Radiation from the from the interaction between the asdermatum and melotetramine gel. We don't want any of that happening or some random, normally unnecessary part will inevitably fail when it becomes important.
