Kerbol Orbit Rescue Mission
James Kerman replied to Yutah123's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I've had a look at the parts list you posted and had a play in the VAB. I built a really ugly beast with 7,500 DV that will be hard to fly to orbit because the reliant engine has no gimble so use your most experienced pilot. https://imgur.com/FK72Bzt Another issue you will have is heat on re-entry without a heat shield. You may need to slow yourself down through atmospheric re-entry. You can use this tool to find transfer windows and minimise Dv requirements: http://ksp.olex.biz/ -

How to Live on Other Planets: Saturn

Very informative OP, MatterBeam. Have you considered a Stirling engine as a power source for a Titan colony? Having an area that is warm enough to keep humans alive and the external temperature should provide ideal conditions. -
Niho in that case.

Greetings and welcome to the forums, @CirnoBAKABAKA. I was also impressed when I read about localization and I hope it will make KSP more accessible to international players. I think the game is unique in that it entertains and educates players without the negative aspects of most games and spreading that to a wider community is to be commended. I wish you luck in your endeavours. Where are you from, if you don't mind me asking?

how to get further in space without making super massive ships?
James Kerman replied to jevry's topic in Welcome Aboard
I'm sorry I didn't post advice. Your answer was in your post. I'm sure most of us have "got out and pushed" at one time or another (I once did it for 5 or 6 hours on my first Duna mission). Learning to fly in EVA is a good skill to learn and that's the way I learned. As to rendezvous - it is a great skill worth learning as it will make these situations much easier. It's also the stepping stone to docking which really opens up the kerbol system. -
Greetings @HighWind and welcome to the forums. An interest in physics and science will serve you well in this game and the science and spaceflight section of the forum is a great place for discussion. Your English is fine, so don't worry about that. The forum has many international members and you haven't seen anything until you try to decode one of WinkAllKerb"s posts. I build planes with parachutes so that even I can land them. I'm sure you will land on another planet this year and I look forward to seeing your mission reports.

I agree with Dman979 about the fuel. My endgame usually Has fuel located throughout the system and Minmus, with its flats is a great place for a mining place. Landing on Minmus is easier than the Mun. Personally I prefer to park interplanetary ships for missions or just as fuel stations in Kerbin orbit and fuel them from Minmus. It's cheaper in Dv to leave from Minmus to go interplanetary however Minmus has an inclined, slow orbit relative to Kerbin. This means that transfer windows to other planets will be fewer and will usually require a plane change.

@p1t1o Congratulations on your engagement. I hope you don't need armour piercing ordinance in your relationship. They are some very nice rings you have been looking at. I asked my wife if She wanted to get remarried so I can get one of them but She said She wouldn't have me back.

Greetings @BentRim and welcome to the forums. I am also a kerbalholic. It's probably best to post newbie questions as version changes mean old info is probably out dated. Also the questions you might ask are likely questions many new players would ask and therefore meaningful to players just starting out and forum guests. Even experienced players can find inspiration or useful advice when reading through these threads due to the input of the excellent community members that have a far better understanding of the game than I ever will. I hope your KSP journey is as rewarding as mine has been and always remember: "You cannot swim for new horizons until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore" William Falkner

Kirk Fu at its best.

Greetings and welcome to the forums, @Alexical. I only switched from 1.05 when 1.2 came out and it's the most stable I've ever seen the game. A lot of niggly problems have been sorted out and it runs sweet in 64x. For an optimist, the glass is half full. For a pessimist, the glass is half empty. For an engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

Greetings and welcome to the forums, @Techpig57. I was weened on Star Trek the original series and I have all of them, including the new films that I like a lot. Two questions, if they are not too personal, is what is your favourite series or move and the big one - Who is your favourite captain? For me I really like DS9 but my favourite captain is Picard. Here's a quote from the original Kirk that I find to be very kerbal: "The greatest danger facing us is irrational fear of the unknown. But there's no such thing as the unknown - only things temporarily not understood." James T Kirk

Greetings and welcome to the forums @NeilKerman. I agree with the Vanamonde's advice. I would love to see your base but I cannot see a screenshot in your post. If you post your image to Imgur and then copy and paste the "html code" into your post the forum software will display your image.

I have got to all the planets and moons however the hard part is getting back again (which I have not done) however some players have done this within a single mission:
