  1. @themaster401 Question about Duna lightning. The config file shows the following for Duna: detailSpeed = 643634,1600,143217 but all other bodies show: detailSpeed = 0,5000000,0 Was this a typo in Duna's config maybe? What do those 3 values do? (Hardcard recommended reducing the middle value to help slow down the lightning, but I haven't seen that make much difference). Thanks!
  2. Just ignore it, it's a long standing bug with...I forget...I think scatterrer. When you're actually flying or rocketing, it will look fine.
  3. Yes, I know how they work IRL, I meant within the Mod itself. Back in original KSPRC there was no aurora on the dark side, a limitation in the Unity engine IIRC. I guess @themaster401 figured out a way around that, and it's quite beautiful (although I'm perplexed that Duna is lacking night-side aurora...is there something strange with Duna's unlit ionisphere?)
  4. My _MinLight defaults were at 1...lowered them to 0.4 and it is MUCH better, thanks! Also was aurora always showing up on the dark side (I noticed that it doesn't on Duna, but does on Laythe and Kerbin (below))? Either this is new or the aurora look better and/or more vibrant.
  5. @themaster401 Is there anything I can do for you to help figure out the lightning frequency issue?
  6. You can adjust the config files to lower the cloud layers a bit and make this less obvious. GameData\AstronomersVisualPack\EVE\clouds.cfg It's all personal preference, but I lower the Kerbin clouds layer to 7000, and the Kerbin cirrus clouds to 6000.
  7. "During your stay at Ike base, you will be amazed by the view of Duna hanging in the pitch black sky. Watch as it changes phase during your stay, just like the Mun from Kerbin."
  8. The lightning is getting so ridiculously fast that it's taking me out of the game...disabling it. Link to an example is below... https://vid.me/dRDIN
  9. Orion survey ship over Laythe. The bioluminescent clouds are quite beautiful.
  10. Unfortunately, no. I don't know what code magic @Proot cast to make Minmus look so realistic (the icy reflectiveness of the flats and the smoothing of low slope terrain), but I miss it.
  11. Did you install the AVP texture pack in addition to AVP? Sounds like something I ran into, and it was because I had deleted the textures and had forgotten to reinstall them.
  12. Sorry, more specifically I just have the old texture replacer installed, I don't have them both installed.
  13. My own experience is that they just don't work with the new texture replacer, however from what I can tell, AVP only uses the new texture replacer replaced for the skybox. So I have the old TextureReplacer with Proot's heads and suits files, and it appears to coexist with AVP fine.
  14. If you go into the Tracking Station and then exit back out, is it gone? If it does, then it's just an old scatterer bug, just ignore it (sometimes the KSC will appear to be flooded, that's also another incarnation of the bug). Also you won't see it when you're actually flying a vehicle.
  15. Maybe hide it but offer instruction on how to turn it back on, like the rain. I wouldn't want to see you remove it entirely, I love it. If I had more time, I would try to help figure out a way to adjust the frequency. Used to be somewhat a lot of lightning, maybe a bolt or two per second in one area, but then lightning went haywire in my career for some reason, like 5 to 6 bolts per second.
  16. I fear that they're talking about...the lightning. It simply amazes me how many Humans don't recognize it as lightning. Although I should say that the frequency of lightning appears to be going up with recent updates if my eyes don't deceive me.
  17. If you've never encountered a storm where it nearly went completely dark, you need to visit tornado alley for a week or two during storm season.
  18. @themaster401 Did you remove the Mun glow in the last update? I had gotten used to it, now the Mun looks boring and dead without it. EDIT: Oh, appears to only be in orbital mode where the glow is missing.
  19. I've said it before, but I'm going to say it again...these clouds are awesome. When the rocket rose out of the cloud layer, it looked we had popped out of the top of a huge cumulonimbus storm cell. "ACE to Auxiliary!"
  20. You mentioned something about adding rain possibly? Any clues as to how to implement the 'smoothing' of the Minmus texture on areas where the slope is less than ~10 degrees (as it appears on KSPRC)? I posted about it a week or two back. It looks really cool. I think on the flats it's so smoothed that it almost looks like ice (as it should). As for Laythe, in KSPRC its clouds were big long latitudinal arcs (much like what is seen for real on Titan). It set it apart from Kerbin's clouds. Any chance of changing Laythe's clouds to that?
  21. Ah, it's not the eroded edges that are missing, it's some kind of smoothing out of the texture on the flat tops and the sloped sides which makes the edges more prominent in KSPRC. Comparisons below. KSPRC only: KSPRC & AVP:
  22. @Gundro Thanks for those settings, and speaking of cloud height, I didn't like all the Mun dust prevalent in the default config, and found that lowering the altitude from 3000 to 1600 in clouds.cfg did a great job to reduce it. @themaster401 Please don't burn out. I LOVE this mod, love it, and very much appreciate the time you spend on it. Haven't loved a mod this much since I first came upon KSPRC. One thing...the Mun texture in AVP is exactly how it looks in KSPRC, but the Minmus texture definitely isn't. I'm doing some detective work to try and figure it out because I really miss those beautifully eroded greenish edges in the highlands.
