The Saga of Emiko Station - Complete
DualDesertEagle replied to Just Jim's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
All I care about is reading the next chapter ASAP. U need one of those devices that freeze time for everyone except urself (like the one Bart Simpson used) so that u can take all the time u want but for us it's just a blink of an eye until the next chapter. -

U might wanna go ahead and correct that whole lot of typos and repeated words spilled all over this one. Nice T-tail on that Stratowing btw, never thought about arranging those wings in that manner... -
This is the one thing that sucks BIG TIME about having caught up: Having to wait for MOAR! Anyway, ur not gonna get me out of this thread so easily

Wow, I finally, FINALLY caught up and can now join the discussion without causing confusion by asking about too old chapters. This story is a frickin' BLAST to read, even more so than emiko station! It's all so well thought out that it just makes perfect sense despite it all being fictional (or is it? who knows...)!

Slowest plane in ksp
DualDesertEagle replied to rockets-don't-make-toast's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
As stated and demonstrated by according graphics in the other thread, the downward thrust portion is negligible. -

Damn, I was about to link to this old post in another thread, where I seem to have set a record that still stands today... -

Unconventional Staging
DualDesertEagle replied to SG Aero's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I'm locked out of this challenge already. How the hell am I supposed to beat ^ THIS when I'm barely skilled enough to make it down to the surface of any other body with nowhere even CLOSE to enough fuel to return to Kerbin? -

Damn, u were already typing when I edited my post. Mods allowed? If yes, what kind is allowed and what kind isn't? -
Unconventional Staging
DualDesertEagle replied to SG Aero's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Does it have to be a video? My CRAPtop is over 10 years old and can't handle KSP and OBS at the same time. Oh, and which kinds of mods are allowed? Or stock only? -
Thanks, but unfortunately I had to sell all that stuff when I ran out of money yet another time in 2016. I miss that GHK G5. Its stock accuracy was great already and my plan was to upgrade it with an R-Hop and tuning barrel and make it a DMR. Got no further than installing a carbine extension kit and getting a scope for the day when I would finally have the gun upgraded to a point where said scope would come to good use. Who the hell cares if u shoot from a chair as long as u hit ur target and have fun doing so?

Well, many of u have already seen me on my profile pic, but never in any bigger resolution than it's shown on my profile: The picture has some post-edited effects such as the smoke coming out of the gun's barrel and ejection port, tho the shell is an actual .45 ACP one hot-glued to the extractor as if it had just been ejected. This picture is a little older, but one of the few pics of myself that I really like: Quite obviously, that's me at an airsoft event on a local field. Another pic of me that I like, screenshotted out of one of my slow motion recordings of me trying a manual on the pump track: And then this last one is me holding my RC-Powers F-18:

Ditch The Royalty Free Music
DualDesertEagle replied to ZooNamedGames's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Without having read every single post in this topic: I'm fine with the ingame music as it is now, despite the fact that it SOMETIMES starts to get on my nerves. I have a suggestion for any music that might be added to the game someday: It could be like in Splinter Cell (at least the original games) where there's a track with parts of different intensities for different situations. If it was me I'd have a different theme for every main body's SOI and a slight variation of that for each of its moons. Depending on the situation that the player's craft is put through a certain part of each theme is played (like in Splinter Cell the calm parts of the themes are played when sneaking around, the more intense parts are played when sneaking up on a guard or one of them passing by real close and the most intense parts are played when being detected and during fights). Let's just say ur ship is entering an atmosphere with no heat shield and barely holds up. For this a very intense and dramatic theme would fit very well. Now the same situation but with a massively overbuilt heat shield. The music for that could be much calmer as the danger level is much lower, but it should still be more than when the ship is coasting through open space. -
Unpowered atmo limbo
DualDesertEagle replied to FlyingPete's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
This is already almost impossible to beat as u either need to know the surface in the area where the periapsis is or u need to be really frickin' lucky not to hit anything while passing by at such low altitude. Might try and get involved in this too. Well, so much for my participation. Can't get any lower than Kulebron without having my whole craft explode from heat either close to reaching the Periapsis or shortly after that. I even tried to only have a single ore tank survive the whole thing and coast back into space but nu-uh, not a single part survives. And the heatshields that are supposed to protect the craft and give away one after another can't even do their job properly coz some part holding them in place goes first and they fall off, leaving the rest completely unprotected. Under these circumstances why should I bother participating? -

As a fan of Jesse Valentine's music I can't help it but link his version of that, from his Album "Pirate Dance Machine": -

DualDesertEagle replied to Just Jim's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Well as far as I know u could even have vertical control surfaces hidden inside the body and they would still work, so I guess u COULD make it look like Luke's Landspeeder if u really wanted. U may wanna install tweakscale tho, I don't think the engine pods are 0.625 meters in diameter... Meanwhile I'm sending plane after plane and their pilots to their doom coz it's just WAY too much fun to play around with BDArmory. (Insert evil smiling kerbal here) -

Well at slow speeds ur gonna need RCS to keep them under control, but at high speed having rudders on top and on the bottom of the craft (and both front and aft) makes them drivable almost like a car. -

Those repulsors are a fun thing to play with, aren't they? -
What I keep the same on all my aircraft is that I put the center of lift slightly behind the center of mass (how much that is depends on the speeds I expect that craft to be capable of), that I have at the VERY LEAST least one intake for 2 engines, most of the time 1 per engine, that I put the main landing gear slightly aft of the center of mass and that I try to keep their drag as low as possible. What I also do on the majority of aircraft is doubling the control surfaces and bind their opposite-of-each-other deploys to the brake so they form very effective split airbrakes, making any braking chutes for landing unnecessary. Everything else is trial and error, but with the stuff described above whatever I build mostly ends up working on the first try.
