  1. When you\'re done we should wait for trbinsc to turn up, he said he was going to land another ship, I will take both the persistence files and try to combine them. It should be easy as they are plaintext.
  2. Clee-saan was the last to fly it, he\'s uploaded it with a pic.
  3. Thanks Kosmo-not, I forgot to work the small tanks into the story, not a big deal though. I\'m beaten on really small Munar rockets but I don\'t mind, it\'s all practice for when we get another planet.
  4. 'Kodger have you seen Kanley? We have an engine delivery coming any moment and I can\'t find him' 'Can\'t say that I have boss, least not since yesterday, it\'s not like the young boy to be late, he\'s normally here before myself' 'Where does he live anyway?' 'That I wouldn\'t know boss, all I know is he\'s here before me an still here after I\'m gone' Kigwig Huffed 'Well when he turns up make sure he hangs around for the delivery will you?' 'Sure thing boss, sounds like somethings coming up the road boss, funny though It don\'t sound like the delivery truck' 'No you\'re right, it sounds like a scooter, now who\'d be coming up here on a scooter?' Kodger just shrugged and walked to the large double doors to have a look, Kigwig not far behind. Coming up the old road was a little bright red scooter with a thin line of white smoke coming from the back and a widely grinning young Kerbal riding it. 'I found young Kanley boss' Before Kigwig could speak Kanley pulled to a stop in front of the two older Kerbals, the little scooter put putting away until Kanley inexpertly stalled it, nearly falling over. 'Sorry I\'m late boss but I had to go get it, I just got it isn\'t it great!? It\'s got gears an stuff jus like a big bike!' Kodger was giving the scooter an appraising look 'That a KSA Sunbeam? Nice find if you don\'t mind all the maintenance you got to put into it' 'Don\'t you knock my ride, it\'s brilliant, I\'m gonna name our next rocket after it!' 'Okay okay, I\'m Jus glad you\'re into something other than pipes is all' 'Boys it\'s great you like scooters it really is but the delivery trucks coming up the road right now, Kanley, get the scooter inside, Kodger, help me get the trolley' They we ready just in time when the truck pulled up, right on the spot Kanley had stopped moments before. The driver jumped down from the cab and wandered over, clipboard in hand. 'I gots a deliv\'ry fora mister Kegwog' 'Thats Kigwig' said Kigwig. 'Yer whatevs, jus sign ere mister' Kodger and Kanley opened the back of the truck and stared 'Er boss? I think you should look at this' 'What is it boys?' Kigwig handed the clipboard back to the driver then went to see what had gotten Kanley and Kodgers attention. 'It\'s the delivery boss' said Kodger 'It\'s all those new little engines, there\'s not a single main engine among them!' 'Damn you\'re right! Hey! Hey driver this isn\'t what I ordered!' 'Carnt help ya guv I\'m jus the driver, an you signed fer it already, you\'ll ave ta take it up wiv head office' Kigwig was almost wailing 'What are we going to do with nine lander engines? they\'re no good to us!' 'Soz guv, not my department' Kodger and Kanley walked up to Kigwig 'It\'s okay boss, me an Kodger\'ll think of something' 'We can\'t make a Munar rocket with these, can we?' Kigwig sounded hopeless. 'We might boss, me an the boy\'ll get to work, don\'t worry, everything\'ll work out' 'Yeah, an I\'ll call it the Munbeam!' ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Munbeam 450N With only LV-909\'s in stock, Ker-Flow-Full builds a Munar landing rocket. This is neither the smallest or most efficient Mun rocket, nor is it the first to only use the new engine, but I wanted to see if I could make a decent rocket that wasn\'t an exercise in frustration to fly and that could bring the Kerbonauts home safely. She\'s fully equipped with a chute, landing legs and capsule decoupler, and is an easy craft to fly with fuel in reserve should you need it, despite being shorter than most Munar landers. Also she\'s self cleaning, all the boosters will either fall back to the surface or crash into the mun. A full Imgur gallery detailing the flight can be found here: http://imgur.com/a/iHovl#0 Have fun The Munbeam 450N ready for a night launch
  5. Perfectly ok if you use non-stock parts be sure to let us know and don\'t you dare infect our landers with the beast
  6. Not seen any ambulatory Mun rocks yet, and they didn\'t fall through the moon in the film I just hope the devs have never seen Moontrap, nah they all seem to be too young.
  7. With the vectoring engine and careful flying I had more fuel left in orbit, but adding a chute was still just too much. Perhaps if this craft were flown like the Goddard challenge rocket it\'d be possible to come back down safely.
  8. I have to try this, well done Kosmo Any chance you can do a gallery of your flight? Also, you gotta work on some better names mate Just a side note, when reentry heat is added all our landers that lack a decoupler are going to fry, as it won\'t be possible to add a heat shield.
  9. you\'ll make it, when your orbit changes to the Mun you may need to thrust sideways to get the line out of the ground, I like to get it so it shows my pariapsis is about 5k.
  10. I expect that orbital debris will become more of an issue over time, just as it will become a more pressing issue in real life as more satellites reach the end of their life with no easy means of recovery. On my next go I\'ll watch my boosters for a while to allow them to deorbit naturally, Darkshadow has asked me to put his Munar rover near the base.
  11. Hey I just know what works for me Vectored thrust can alleviate many control issues, but it\'s Twinkys rocket and that was the way I found it.
  12. Mind your head, a pair of my boosters are in a degrading orbit but as drag does not affect 'on rails' debris, they will orbit for some time. I try to make my rockets self cleaning by either crashing parts into the Mun or dropping them into the atmosphere
  13. I like the Mk3 but I\'d have kept an LV-T45 engine on the main section of the rocket, the vectoring thrust would improve control. And there\'s no need to make the pipes so short, they added a spot of colour
  14. I tried again just in case it was a one off, unfortunately the lander fell once more, with the decoupler again landing on its side. Here is the save folder, don\'t worry too much about the screenshot\'s name, see if you can figure out the reference
  15. I hate to break it to you trbinsc, but your lander has collapsed.
  16. I\'ll go, I\'m just finalizing my miniature Munar lander, but I have a 6 tank fuel delivery ship that can keep the Mun base powered until there are stock solar arrays.
  17. Hi Twinky827 I hope you don\'t mind, but I repaired your Tiny 1 rocket, it now has more power and can not only reach orbit, it should also be able to get to the Mun and come back again, making it a decent Medium orbiter. I think its too heavy to land on the Mun though, but I left the landing legs on because its possible to land on Kerbin with them, all you have to do is, before you need to land, drag stage 1 above stage 0 so the decoupler won\'t fire, open the chute and use a little thrust to help slow you down for a safe landing. Have fun
  18. Um, I just flew the Tiny 1, its nicely balanced but I couldn\'t get to orbit The Little Sipper worked because I tried very hard to keep the weight down, those new landing legs, while nice are just far too heavy to retrofit to it, and to be honest I had no idea it\'d make it at all, that flight I pictured was its first one, I was wondering the whole way when I\'d run out of fuel. It takes a lot of work to make such a small Munar craft, its not enough to change an existing one as it really needs to be tested. There\'s some things you can change to make the Tiny 1 better though, your pipes need turning around for a start that\'ll give you a lot more performance. And be careful with those landing legs, they may not reach the ground. Thanks for the rocket though, its nice you are trying, you\'ll get there mate
  19. The version you are playing is the experimental pre-0.14 release, it\'s not the actual release, there will be new stock components in the next version.
  20. Yeah sure Darkshadow, but it\'s not my turn yet I know what you mean by rockets collapsing, my Hopper fell apart twice so I reinforced it and uploaded the new craft file, I expect when 0.14 proper is released I\'ll have to check and rebuild all my rockets. So far there are the 2 landers but they seem to fall over whenever you get near them or they are switched to, we may have to wait until the full release before much more is done.
  21. Nah I just made them up, because I use pipes a lot I thought I\'d start a pipe factory for KSP, it\'s all completely unofficial though. Now I feel I should have a story with any new ship, it just helps add something more than the usual 'Here\'s my rocket' posts. Kigwig was just Bigwig at first, I added the K to make him Kerbally, so after that I added K\'s to Stanley and Rodger, the three are the only Kerbals working at Ker-Flow-Full pipeworks, a tiny competitor to Flooyd. Kanley is obsessed with pipes and even lives in a pipe in the yard somewhere, Kodger is obviously the brains as well as being a \'set in his ways\' traditionalist who vary rarely gets flustered, while Kigwig is enthusiastic and tries his best to run the place but really doesn\'t know how. It\'s just my little contribution along with the tiny ships, everyone else was making these huge rockets that took ages to get to orbit and slowed down my computer so I decided to see if a small rocket could get to the Mun. I thought I was doing well with a 15 tank ship until another player, Gruntzilla, showed me his 10 tank ship, after that I made the Little Sipper and the Munar Skif. There\'s talk of smaller engines and fuel tanks coming in the 0.14 release, I\'ll see what I can make with them
  22. Ok so when\'s the Mun right mate? I used to do this in 0.13.2 so the Mun always started in the same spot, I didn\'t use time warp I just went and launched.
  23. Oh yeah of course, a direct ascent is easy, just make a full power burn to about 15k, tilt over to about 45 degrees east and just keep burning till your Apoapsis is about 11 million meters. Not as easy in the experimentals though, as with persistence the Mun isn\'t always in the right place.
  24. You should see the Shamrock And my Munar Skif and Little Sipper are the smallest Mun capable stock rockets I can make with current parts.
