  1. I went into this thread expecting a sad story about how you forgot to feed your pet mouse... *Sigh of relief*
  2. What was the contract for slide 8? Abandon 3 Kerbals on the surface of Eve?
  3. I didn't know about trim. If you hold alt and a control input (WASDQE on default) you can adjust a constant level of pitch, yaw, or roll depending on when you release alt. Alt+X to reset it. (That's windows controls anyways. I don't know about other systems.)
  4. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maximum_Absorbency_Garment I found out a while ago that astronauts wear diapers...Don't tell anybody!
  5. That's simple enough. So we can glue all the crazy physicsless stuff we like off of a part as long as we consider the added drag and mass to the parent part. I was avoiding placing things asymmetrically up until now.
  6. Did you just stage a jet booster or something? I'm not sure what I'm looking at there...
  7. We need a smarty pants to clear this up. The thread jumped around a little and I want a simple definitive analysis of this stuff cuz I'm a dumb dumb.
  8. So there's no more physicsless parts now basically? If so, what's the relation of physicsless parts and their parent part in terms of drag and mass placement?
  9. Oopsie! Lol. That's how little I've played. Sorry about that!!
  10. Is crabbing in that context a word?? Never mind, I don't care. I'm gonna give you rep regardless. That tickled me.
  11. Will using the gizmo to bury the cone "spike" a little further into the rapier effect performance? I feel like if I was going to build one of those I'd feel like messing around with it a little for aesthetics.
  12. Getting back into KSP since the 1.03 update. slapped 6 Mk1 pods on a rocket with tourists paying to go suborbital, got paid, now I'm designing a rocket I call SatBom Rocket. It's mission will be to deliver 3 satellites in a single launch for a lot of kerbux. (Also test a decoupler on the way up to Kerbin orbit!) 2 will be in Kerbin orbit, and the last will orbit the Mun. I haven't seen what rocket engines are like in space so hopefully I over-engineer my rocket. Still have to make money on it though so I'm not going to build a monster.
  13. Oh okay. I figured if I experienced it, there must have been other people that did too. Also I'm not very tech savvy. Which folder is the save file in the save me the trouble of digging if this happens again? (If you know off the top of your head.) I'll take a screenshot of the log afterwards too.
  14. Humanity has a tendancy to assault itself. I feel like civilization is bound to collapse once industry can no longer sustain itself on a practical level. Unless we develop technology to deal with our need for our dwindling resources and deteriorating ecosystems, eventually the quality of life for a vast majority of Earth's population will be so poor that society will no longer have a need for it's government and anarchy will be the new world order. I don't think government will go away. It will operate in the backround seizing whichever it values and providing stability for the elite. But at that point corruption in the government will be unchecked and the very small percentage of people belonging to that system will be the only educated people left on earth capable of progressing humanity on a scientific level. They might be capable of colonization and planting the seeds of humanity on other planets, but seeing as the exploding population is earth's current most serious unchecked problem, there might not be a point to colonization once humanity is reduced to a state where the government no longer has omnipotent control over it's population. The most immediate objective will be controlling and protecting what population that it still governs. That's my uneducated predition of the fate of the planet. All that's left is horrible terrorism while humanity slowly tries to rebuild itself, and possibly an extinction event. I don't see us lasting billions of years.
  15. I think it's possible you may have adjusted the trim on your station's reaction wheels. If you accidentally touch the alt key while piloting a craft with WASD it can maintain a control input. Alt+X will reset it back to normal. Or possibly not. I don't use trim enough to know if it persists after temporarily relinquishing control of the craft. (AKA: Going to the space center or tracking station, switching craft, or exiting the game.)
  16. What's the big deal about Cresent Bay? Is it basically like El Dorado on Laythe?
  17. I don't know if this deserves it's own thread or not because I've only had it happen to me the one time. I also never took a screen shot of my the ship or cared enough at the time to pull up a mission log or anything like that. My priority was successfully get "Flying low" PresMat situations in different biomes around KSC and I'd been crashing and reverting a lot willy-nilly. I was piloting a simple lander/rocket thing with 3-sided-symmetry, radial mounted engines with a presmat and some thermometers on it. I was flying from the direction of the launchpad toward the shore/ocean. Once above the beach near the water my craft slowed down and started feeling like I had accidentally staged my parachute or something. I was traveling upwards at the time. I cut my throttle to zero figuring the chute would safely plop me down and I'd have to reload again, but instead of decending I continued floating like a cloud, upwards. (Sounds dumb, but that's the best way I can descride the feedback I was feeling from my craft.) and there was no parachute. It continued floating up for a little while then started to decend. It was basically a very cushion-ey feeling ballistic trajectory. I started my throttle again and it was having very limited effect on changing my course. my ship behaved more like it was underwater with no buoyancy than a rocket in flight. (I was above the ocean. The bug started at the shore, but I was only very briefly above it. I don't know if it has anything to do with it since rockets seem to act like they're inflatable pool toys when they go underwater, and bob right to the top.) Sort of a trippy bug. Haven't seen it since. (I haven't played too much since the update. Very overwhelmed by KSP right now with all the new stuff and less forgiving career science-wise.) Has anyone else experienced this sort of thing?
  18. I made a jet. It sucks. Weasley engine isn't particularly fast.
  19. Reduced in IVA, and turned off for external view. So awesome!
  20. I play stock because I feel more connected with other players in the community that way. If I go to the Duna using stock parts, and someone else goes to the Duna using extra-efficient engines and a mod to perform all of his manouvers for him and a bunch of cool doohickies all over their ship that do cool stuff while his kerbals starve inside their capsules if they stay out too late, then we aren't really playing the same game. I play stock for an indirect sense of comradery with my fellow kerbonauts.
