  1. You wanted out, but you can't help it.♫ So you go ham and "Friggen" land on Minmus to rescue my kerbal.
  2. I don't have a wheel, but my HOTAS works just fine. Sure, it's a bit different than driving with a steering wheel, but it definitely stop that twitchy-ness you refer to.
  3. Reactions to @AeroGav 's entry: Pic 1 - Huh. I though I over-engineered my entry... Pic 2 - OH. I didn't. Nice.
  4. I honestly don't know this for sure, but intuitively, the units of air must be volume. This is my best guess because it would also answer your question here: Consider your speed at any given time will increase and decrease the amount of air that can be taken into your chosen intakes. If the intake provides 2 units of air, surely that number must correspond with the volume of air while the craft sits still. However, if you increase your speed, a greater volume of air flows through at a time. The faster you're moving, the more intake air is captured for combustion. Someone else may come along with a more scientific answer though. Again, I'm just guessing about the units being volume.
  5. That^ was a maiden flight BTW... I almost landed on Minmus! I mean... something did, but... yeah.
  6. Not sure. Me and the forum search don't get along. Happy to check out any related threads found though. @bewing have you any thoughts on my troubles? Perhaps you've seen this before...?
  7. I apologize for my previous pessimistic outlook @Xd the great... Here's a snap of my key-bindings. In the interest of being fair and getting to the bottom of this, I'll be more open to suggestion henceforth.
  8. I'm sure a few alterations would be required to get a kerbal to orbit. Of course not! But if you could manage to "draw" the kerbal horizontally, while positioned at the Greater Flats... it might just be possible! But of course, there's this: So. Maybe Gilly!
  9. @Xd the great I would never do that. I'm savvy with setting up my controls, as I like to switch roll and yaw controls, as well as use H and N for rovers' forward and reverse, respectively. I change no other key bindings but those. @RealKerbal3x you might be onto something there. Either I wasn't paying attention to whether or not things were being added to my staging, or nothing was... I'll get back to you in a few minutes to verify. @RealKerbal3x I'm afraid it's not as you suggest. As you can see here, there's nothing new being added to the staging sequence for me to manipulate...
  10. Negative. I've still not properly used Kerbnet for that. Just ore... I was testing a little ion-powered-- thing. I set orbit at lowest safe orbit at Minmus, burned hard retrograde, then changed my inclination ever-so-subtly to match where all my other kerbals were, at my Minmus refinery. After time-warping a bit, I noticed I was still a little off course and when I dropped out of time-warp: bup! I was basically looking directly at it from orbit! I tried to wipe it off my screen and everything like, "what's that lil dark speck?" At this point, I quickly took note of the approximately 54km between my current position and the distance to target (my refinery.) After that, I reverted, switched to the rover pictured above (which was parked up at the refinery) and Val and Bob went monolith hunting! Easy enough to find, but tense to drive all that way. Took about an hour to drive it... On the way back, I decided to use the boosters and just "hop" back to the refinery and refuel. Bad idea. Splattered, less than halfway. LOL
  11. Well... I did this: ...which was awesome. I've been looking for this monolith passively since I first learned about Minmus having only one of them. The bad news? I killed every last kerbal on the way home LOL! Val and Bob (pictured above) smacked into a hill attempting to return to the refinery. Jeb and Bob managed to take off from Minmus and circularize 75km above Kerbin, but the SSTO I sent to retrieve them doesn't ditch in the water. RIP veteran crew... RIP
  12. So, I'm doing a thing. And the thing is working pretty well... but not to the end I really wanted. I built a craft which launches kerbals a huge distance while in command seats. The thing is basically a multi-kerbal cannon. Trouble is, every time I stage the cannon... all 8 kerbals deploy their personal parachutes and I don't understand why. *I have not armed their personal 'chutes at any time during the boarding process. *I have not pressed "P," which I understand to be the default button to arm the 'chutes. *I have not found any possible way to intentionally stage kerbals' personal 'chutes. *On activating the cannon, I only need to stage; no other keys are pressed. *Control focus is always on the cannon, even though I aim the camera in the right-click menu at the "cannonball" kerbals. *This save is an unmodded sandbox game (with the exception of Kerbal Engineer Redux) Are kerbals' personal 'chutes automatically armed to deploy in a freefall scenario when your control point is not on them, or have I found a bug?
  13. I'll take it @kerbalstar! I wonder if @Alchemist 's sling could thump a kerbal into Minmus orbit
  14. About 15 minutes ago, the rover litho-braked to a stop on the little fuel port on the left in my first pic. I put the base down in the wee hours of this morning... I'm not really that upset. I do most of these challenges just for the fun of it. I'll be waiting to see about the next one, whether I get a badge or not!
  15. Yes, but I do have to use the rover's power supply at night to continue refinery ops... I kinda rushed into this one LOL If it's stupid, but it works...
  16. I understand where you guys are coming from with having a bunch of the same flag, but that wasn't really what I meant. I was thinking of the ability to take different-looking flags on a mission, as opposed to a single flag, or many of the same flag. The flag-bearer kerbal could find this advantageous, I'm sure @kerbalstar, as then you could have a special "monument" for each lost kerbal, if you preferred. Me, I'd just want different flags for one mission so I'd have an excuse to create a flag-bearer of my own. That kerbal would have a different flag for every planet it touched. Or maybe just for launching multiple vehicles in constellation which could re-designate their flags based on their obejctives. Just thinking out loud there.
  17. Also, I would love to be able to plant multiple, different flags in the same mission. It would also be awesome if I could plant flags on my vessels and carry them around like a parade vehicle... So we could literally redefine "flying" our flags? LOL sounds kerbal enough to me!
  18. Okay, that only further confused me. Sorry... Are you saying a mod is required, or patch of some kind, in order to upgrade parts? Or that it's possible to upgrade parts in the stock career-- not just unlock them?
  19. What? Show me a picture? Grammar failed me pretty hard... I have a career save going and don't really understand your annoyance. Are you referring to the fact that you can see the parts that you can unlock before you unlock them, with all their details?
  20. Aww man! I almost had you with just one engine! 26:16 Glad you got it worked out!
