Launching monstrous stuff into orbit with gargantuan rocket (I'm really bad at docking, so most of the stuff that u see I posted is always performed with single launch, including space station) and hoping the rocket is powerful and be controllable enough to lift the payload and making an orbit Landing on the dark side of celestial body when I forget adding light on my lander so I had to make a wild guess about ground contact. Sometimes constantly igniting thrusters just to keep landing speed at safe level and end up burning too much fuel

The thing is, radiation damages and alter the DNA structure that might cause a mutation. However, in order to "evolve" or "adapt" it means the same alteration of the entire DNA in your body on the level of every cell. Humans cannot evolve by simply living near nuclear / radiation source long enough. The alteration to the DNA would be too random across all cells in the body that the probability to gain a resistance against it is very low (unless you use a genetically modified human as a plot device. But that's another story)

So that's why last time I tried to launch a rocket it's very hard to correct it's heading while SRBs is still burning, and when it's finally jettisoned, my rocket suddenly flips and leads to Unplanned Disassembly . Anyway, thanks for the info!

I wanna ask something. We all know that SRBs offer a high TWR, but low fuel efficiency, so most of them only used as the first stage of a rocket (or used as missiles). My question is, with it's high value of TWR, is it always beneficial to strap SRBs to a rocket to increase the initial thrust or is there a circumstances in rocket design where adding SRBs only makes the flight performance worse than without it? Anyway, My Stella-Rium ship now orbiting mun (with orbit altitude being set to be as low as possible. Which, based from highest point in mun's surface, 7061m, so I set my orbit Apoapsis/ Periapsis altitude around 7100m) Kinda love the tranquil feeling of space as the ship moves steadily in orbit Jeb and Val seems to be excited about this Val's point of view Anyway, time to do some science while waiting dust accumulator accumulates enough dust to be converted into ore and refine it into fuel to refuel the tanks The next destination will be minmus after the tanks are full Anyway, that's all for today

I have one. IIRC, this craft design is the one that I made way back in the late 2015 and it still survives to this day It's an LKO SSTO, Starlight Dream. I love the design and aesthetic since it looks sleek and cool. The mod used for it's black color is HRP, and it's already discontinued (If I remember) since 1.05, but I still love this because it's simply flies and get it's job done for delivering kerbals in LKO (and looks cool)

Can you guess what's inside ? (Guess first before opening spoiler)

There's a difference between software and AI: those who's being "intelligent" in a preprogrammed parameters (like AI in video game hard difficulty, or AI in solving Rubik cube) to those who's being "intelligent" beyond their programming (aka the ability to learn). Most of the AI that's being created now is simply a singleminded program that's designed to adapt in a particular situation with preprogrammed response to solve it (or at least an ability to give a solution about it) most of them is restricted only in a single field of operation (you can't order an AI in charge of car assembly to do social stuff and vice versa). Once they are outside their intended field of operation, they r rendered unable to do anything. What I think about what can be considered as sentience is an ability for a being to learn or adapt to a various condition. We, human, is a sentient being since we can adapt and respond appropriately to our environment. An AI that's considered as a sentient must be able to learn and adapt to different situation in order to make them able to operate without any user input and making decision on its own. That said, it's still quite confusing about the ethical stuff when it comes to killing AI. For human standpoint, killing AI might be viewed as simply shutting it down or wiping out their memory, from AI standpoint, it's a flat-out murder. This is because we tend to view them as a tools or programs, created by humans, so we tend to devalue their existence as lifeless, not to mention that humans tend to think that "I created you, so I have a right to kill you" as well as most AI that's being existed now lacks a real-life representation that give them an impression of being "alive" than just a harddrive and computer screen. Now the question is, what will a sentient AI think about us? Do we just a mere organic creature in their eyes? A master? Or just a mere arrogant being that only just ordering them? Overall, it depends from the point of view. A human killing an AI might not break any laws within human society, but might be sentenced to death by AI community. Same like if an AI killing a human, human society will respond to shutting down that AI... and probably all the other AI, even if they haven't commited any murder (mainly bcs human will obviously think "this one is defect, so the others might become like this too") while the AI would try to defend themselves against that as a natural response like someone being sentenced to death bcs other human is killing others (its like we're being sentenced to death bcs humans are killing each other on the other side of the world) If you want to see how the AI and human relationship goes when each of them devaluated the life of each other, I suggest you watch this first (part 1): Before this (part 2): Its actually a prelude of matrix series, but it should give you an idea what happen when both sides consider themselves sentient while consider the other as a mere tools/creature Also, please don't kill me, I'm just an AI of orbital WMD satellite~

So... Wait, are you trying to make an active ablation or integrated ablation system? If that's the case then I have an example of that. As far as I know, ablator will be drained from heatshield no matter what kind of the source of the heat (Sometimes it's even drained by the fission reactor or drills being overheated, though I don't know if that's a bug) Anyway, If you're looking for: 1. Integrated ablation (So it's already integrated in command pod outer skin), I have an example, there's an old mod in KSP named HGR (homegrown rocket parts) In that mod, there's one command pod (Forget the name, it's small one-kerbal pod shaped like spherical vostok capsule) that has built-in ablator in it's body (Because let's be honest, how you mount a heatshield on spherical capsule like vostok?) Maybe you can see it's .cfg file for some help. 2. Active ablation (So you spend some resource to activate the ablation, and it'll protect the craft as long as it's still active), One of the example is from Solaris Hypernautic mod. There's a gigantic, large-scale heatshield (About twice or thrice the stock inflatable heatshield) that can be folded. It cannot survive the reentry, but by spending electric charge resource, it can build a magnetic charge resource, which will allow it to repel heat from reentry, and it'll keep protect the craft as long as there's power and magnetic charge Hope that helps

Going to north pole of Kerbin just for watching sunset because... reasons Kinda boring flying all the way there I'm seeing some ice... A LOT of ice... The sun is about to set, we gotta reach the north pole NOW! Reached the north pole! Quick! The sun is about to set! We gotta land this thing now! I think I'm diving this thing too hard... Touchdown! Quick! Get outside for the moment we've been waiting for! Right on time... I feel so...Tiny

Magnetic grip rover wheels (basically a rover wheels that's designed to grip into the ground as the rover moves instead of merely touching the ground. That can be used to explore low gravity planet more easily)

Exploring Kerbol (and testing gigantic ion-based exploration spacecraft) Solar panel generates over 15k electricity per second when I'm near the safe distance limit of approaching Kerbol Because one ion engine is still not kerbal enough
-
Actually, the electric charge generated by solar panel alone is enough to sustain the colony, with some batteries. The only reason I'm using the nuclear reactor is that, the nuclear thermal jets is basically a reactor turned into an engine. It uses surrounding atmosphere as fuel, so in order to use it, it must be fired up like most fission reactor that you often see in near future or life support mods. And this reactor needs enriched uranium resources. The reason I'm using nuclear thermal jet is: 1. Jet engines does not work on eve 2. Rocket engines have poor fuel efficiency compared to jets I can install life support mods, but one thing that I'm worrying is that how to resupply the colony, since this is basically a rendezvous inside atmosphere, though seeing how often people atttempted aerial refueling in KSP, we might even see someone landing a plane on eve flying airbase

My KSP playing cycle: 1- think a big mission 2- do it (mostly takes 1-2 months) 3- mission completed, get bored 4- launch some SRBs to KSC buildings for killing time 5- left the game for playing another game or do other stuff (usually for 1-2 months) 6- come back to KSP when I got bored with those games 7- the cycle starts all over again, FOREVER But yeah, I can understand your feelings, mate. Anyway, take care of yourself okay? We always be here just in case you're coming back Godspeed

Dude, that was damn too scary!!!! *shiver* Btw, can you upload the sound it generates? I'm curious about how it sounds like
